I have watched this a few times, and each time Kevin doing his thing hits me. It's official, I am never going to get used to a beatboxer extraordinaire beatboxing to a country song. Yup, that is another one of my sterotypes laid to rest by PTX. On a side note, I saw Dolly live a few years ago and I was blown away. Not just by her voice and energy on stage, but by the fact that she plays 11 instruments proficiently.

We had actors and writers though instead of musicians and enough of them that everybody just treated each other as run of the mill town residents. I remember buying her original version back in 1974, and this version is just as amazing as the 1974 version. I love it. As mentioned before, they won a Grammy and was it was named the year's best country music duo/group performance that year. This collaboration also earned Dolly her 8th Grammy. they are like a horn section, there's bass, baritone, tenor, alto, and soprano. they all known the interval of the chord because of where they sing in the scale. so, one always has the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and lead tone. It 's a well organized vocal section. All lead singers too! You're right, that's perfection.
Dolly is a country legend, Barry. A real southern belle from Tennessee. She had hit after hit throughout the years. (My mom was a big fan) So many songs you need to hear. Where do we start? She had a hit w/Kenny Rogers "Islands in the Stream" Excellent. A number one hit. She wrote "I will always love you", and I think it is just as good as Whitney sung it. Beautiful. (Dolly was famous for writing love songs, be it break up or falling in love kinda songs) Oh, a good one. "Romeo". That could be your theme song, Barry. It came out in the 90s when Billy Ray Cyrus was the new hunk in country music. The video was so fun. "Coat of many colors" is a classic. Dolly is one of my favorite country singers. I grew up listening to her. And I have followed Pentatonix since the beginning. So to have them do a song with Dolly is just heaven! Their voices work so well together. I love the way they back her up and then do a section the Pentatonix way. This song is too short so I’m glad you play it twice!

Thank you for reacting to this one - a short but very sweet cover that won them all a Grammy. So many little nuggets about this performance! Originally Pentatonix had prepared to be Dolly's backing group as far as the performance went, but Dolly - like the queen she is - said "nope, you guys need to have your moment in this song as well!" And Dolly was also delighted by Avi's deep bass voice, and had great fun after the performance listening to him hit some super-low notes. Mitch is bald in this video because he'd been dyeing his hair many colours in rapid succession in the weeks/months before then, and was unhappy at how it was destroying it, so he shaved it all off a few days prior in a Superfruit video with Scott.

I wish I could find the clip, but it's hidden in one of the many PTXperience videos - a short behind-the-scenes from their filming of "Jolene". Dolly and Avi enjoying a quick sing, where Dolly attempts, futilely, to replicate Avi's low notes. They have a great laugh about it and have a lovely hug (many of us can speak from experience that Avi Kaplan gives quite excellent hugs). Very sweet.

As mentioned before, they won a Grammy and was it was named the year's best country music duo/group performance that year. This collaboration also earned Dolly her 8th Grammy. they are like a horn section, there's bass, baritone, tenor, alto, and soprano. they all known the interval of the chord because of where they sing in the scale. so, one always has the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and lead tone. It 's a well organized vocal section. All lead singers too! You're right, that's perfection.

Dolly is one of my favorite country singers. I grew up listening to her. And I have followed Pentatonix since the beginning. So to have them do a song with Dolly is just heaven! Their voices work so well together. I love the way they back her up and then do a section the Pentatonix way. This song is too short so I’m glad you play it twice!

I KNEW, KNEW, KNEW, you would love the combination of Dolly and PTX singing "Jolene" That is one of the best, my most favourite songs of Dolly's and your reactions had me laughing and crying at the same time. This was my second PTX reaction and I cringe when I hear myself saying “the Pentatonix and Pentatonic" 🙄 but I’m obsessed with them now and that’s all that matters.

So many little nuggets about this performance! Originally Pentatonix had prepared to be Dolly's backing group as far as the performance went, but Dolly - like the queen she is - said "nope, you guys need to have your moment in this song as well!" And Dolly was also delighted by Avi's deep bass voice, and had great fun after the performance listening to him hit some super-low notes. Mitch is bald in this video because he'd been dyeing his hair many colours in rapid succession in the weeks/months before then, and was unhappy at how it was destroying it, so he shaved it all off a few days prior in a Superfruit video with Scott.
Very well deserved Grammy. This is amazing! Dolly is delightful and PTX are as I say Pure Perfection!

I wish I could find the clip, but it's hidden in one of the many PTXperience videos - a short behind-the-scenes from their filming of "Jolene". Dolly and Avi enjoying a quick sing, where Dolly attempts, futilely, to replicate Avi's low notes. They have a great laugh about it and have a lovely hug (many of us can speak from experience that Avi Kaplan gives quite excellent hugs). Very sweet.
