Love the way the teacher admire his art of applying the varnish on the instrument indeed lovely video Thank you! AV Daniel Violin your teacher is a true Master
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot my password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
@Anthony Cohen I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@ 10.54 .. the giggles of delight as the maestro's craft comes to life through colour. It's so wonderful to witness.. Thank you for making this video and sharing your craftmanship … I have got so much pleasure from watching you create something so beautiful. :-)
I appreciate the skill it takes to apply color to wood and make it so even. Skilled hands and a skilled mind are so valuable to watch. I liked your brush technique, instead of using the tip of the brush you flowed the color on with the body of the brush, I will try that the next time I want to apply colored varnish. I am not a violin maker, but am an avid woodworker.
What do you think about the effect of vanish that you apply to your instrument? Is it only the color? I think the vanish is the most important work for the sound of the instrument. The wood itself is good vibrating material but when the very good finish, not vanish, is applied, the wood is not wood anymore but becomes another fantastic resonant. A good and beautiful looking instrument does not sound good always. Good luck to your job.
You mix your self, is easy ebay sells violin pigment, use zinnser clear sandable clear coat 100% wax free, to mix the pigment with, amber, or red or brown, and or combination of red brown, you need different colors if restoring, different areas of the violin.
HI! Daniel Olsen! I'm from Brazil, Congratulation by video, I'm Luthier and like to much your Chanel! Well I found way to varnish natural, use just natural ingredient, can be root, resin, flowers and etc...Thanks so much !!!
I really liked your first color coat that you applied! What was the color that you mixed with the clear varnish! Thanks so much! Very nice way of applying that color!
Sanding in circles is fine, if done lightly with fine sandpaper and always finish ,by sanding straight with the grain .The idea behind circular motion sanding is to flatten the surface of raised grain etc. But always finish with the grain .I hope this helps .
+AV Daniel Violin Hello mr. Daniel. firs of all i really like your videos. Your varnishing hethod is very good. Thanks for your videos. i would like to ask you about the oil varnish. How can i make it? i will be happy if you give me some examples. Thank you very much
Fabulous instruction, but I would greatly appreciate details: What specific varnish are you using? What grit of sandpaper? What specifically is the product in the tube you are using for the second part of the coloring? Thanks very much.
I got a guy teaching me each step and how to mix the colors, what to use what not to use, he is getti g his appraiser license so he knows hit me up I'm about to restore several old violins, I need the finish to be right.
Get pigments off eBay, 5 colors dry or 5 colors with a sac gum rosin, which gives an elastic nature. Zinnser clear 100% wax free sandable clear seal coat, I found at local hardware. But this is the best to work with, you'll need a few baby food jars to mix color in, amber, red, brown, for the finger board first black liquid shoe polish, followed by, a couple other steps to be super smooth
if you please sir tell me the kind of varnish that you used in your video is that an normal varnish or special one it will be a kind of you if you could tell us the kind of all materials
thank you Daniel, your video helped me, I am only on my 12 violin and being self taught I am always looking for information and different ways of doing things.
I tried to paint a piece of raw pine tree with organic virgin coconut oil. The result seems to me amazing. Professionally, from the sound point of view, I have not any knowledge if it can be used succesfully on violin wood. What do you think about it? If it may be used because of good sound response, It should be used on the outside and inside of the violin to avoid stress development. Is it possible to try it ?
Salut Daniel. quelle couleur vous appliquez après le pinceau de vernis? est qu'il est l'huile couleur tempora vous appliquez avec vos doigts? comme pour les peintures de peintre? Merci beaucoup ! great thanks for your video !! Hello Daniel. what color you apply after the varnish brush? is that it is the color tempora oil you apply with your fingers? as for painter paintings? thank you very much !

I'm not a violinist (I play guitar) but if I was ............ the colour of the bare wood at 0:25 is what I would have to have, to me at least, it looks absolutely stunning.
Hello Daniel! A very good video! There have been several questions asked, but I can find no answer. Could you tell us if this is oil varnish or spirit varnish that you use for this violin? Thank you!

What about cooking resin and coating violin with it? Will it result in pleasant resin smell from violin?

Thanks for the video how long do I leave to dry the finger color you applying on before putting the clear.
just like oil painting, when you finish the color, let it dry for a couple of days, better for a week, before you apply for next coat of varnish.
