    I own one and it’s utterly fantastic. I’ve been driving M5s for a long time and only got it because it’s a convertible but it is absolutely amazing.

      I ordered one a few weeks back. Just went into production.

      @@ThatKevinErnst an exciting time for you, anticipating its arrival. I got mine in Dravit Grey with the Yas Blue seats with yellow detailing. It was an amazing car. The M models just get better and better and I’ve had an M3, three M5s and two M4 comp convertibles.

      I've had a '24 G83 since September. It's a little bit difficult to explain the experience of owning/driving it. There isn't much it won't do, so you have to be very careful what you ask of it. There isn't anywhere on a public road you can wring one out. This isn't my first convertible, but it's the fastest one I've ever had. The first half of the throttle will make you giggle; the second half will strengthen your relationship with God.

    • @reversoworld5348

      @@jonathanshores yes, the performance is shattering, even after M5s. I adore the G83 and it’s so competent at everything it does. The grip in particular is staggering.

    I'm a fellow convertible convert, nothing better on a warm summers eve or a sunny crisp winters day. The V8 F Type was something else with the roof down, pound for pound the Boxster platform is hard to beat!!

    We loved our old saab 9-3 convertible, roof down and heater up on a crisp day was nice.
    We are getting too old to get out of a low car now days,but a fast ,well handling rag top seems a great (price aside) combo.
    Does it let you lower the roof while it's on the drive,using the key?

    Great review. I’ve just chopped in my 840i convertible for an M440i convertible. Always love a convertible and I actually prefer the confidence that XDrive gives you and the car feels so much more agile and pointy than the 8 series. For me the M440i provides all the performance I’ll ever need for substantially less cost than the M4, but generally I think BMW have absolutely nailed the 4 series.

    • @colinhardy7203
      @colinhardy7203 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I went for the M440i Convertible over the M4 for pretty much the same reasons as you. Also I want it to be a long distance European GT and the extra mpg range is important for that.

    • @rdvideoclips
      @rdvideoclips 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the M440i looks like an excellent compromise. Do Dinan do packages for the M440i. I had a Dinan stage 2 on my 135M Sport track car , and on my X5-50M. Made significant performance improvements to both.

    Great Review…Covertibles have certainly come a long since the days of compromised dynamics and heavier bodies to in an effort to compensate for the missing roof and you clearly enjoyed this one…especially given it’s all weather tractability…but..in the end…I would still take the keys for the all wheel drive M3 Competition..I just feel it’s the better package all round…but then again..that also subjective…which would therefore mean that I am simply biased🤣🤣…Ah well..to each there own😅👌🏽

  • @gtsussex3467
    @gtsussex3467 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    It’s a nice car. Problem is it’s not worth double what we paid for an F83 this Feb with only 300 miles on (actually through your friends at Hendy). It’s a better car no doubt but not £45k better. Time was when you waited a bit and your M car would be available with 20ish percent off (as with most BMW’s although my 7 was £40k off list!). That would then make it affordable as depreciation pretty savage. Obviously, currently BMW not doing any discounts but settlement values haven’t reflected market shift. I would suspect a lot of potential repeat M owners are waiting to see what happens. Fine to pay higher prices but BMW need to grow a set and put higher final residuals if they are wanting to shift the market to no discount but higher residuals. Until they do, only mad people will pay full price.
    PS Interesting to hear your comments on its relative stiffness. F83 is very disappointing on that front - was biggest disappointment. But hell, wife’s happy!

    Great video Pete. When I used to have my MG Midget, some 35 years ago, it didn't matter what time of year it was, if it wasn't raining or snowing, I'd have the roof down.
    Though in really cold weather, and I mean freezing cold, putting the roof back up was always a problem as it like trying to unfold sheet metal. It had become that cold and rigid 8-))...
    Wasn't it the old axiom that the only convertibles you should buy, were ones that were designed as convertibles? Not ones made convertible by removing a fixed roof. 8-\\...

    Blue seems to be a real good color for this car. But comments: who would spend $90,000 and put dogs in the back? Launch control times are meaningless imho, not something you can utilize outside the drag strip. Flooring the throttle at a stop light is what is really meaningful. Which brings me to turbo lag, no mention of that but it is a really important subjective and objective finding.
    I am a previous BMW owner 4.4TT V8, but keep considering trading my current Jaguar V8S convertible for the M4 xdrive Convertible. Maybe to get the extra space. But the Jag, being supercharged is such a beast, sounds like a beast, and a great drive here in Florida in the winters. What to do, what to do.

    £80K plus I’d hope it would be good. That aside I’d certainly do the North Coast 500 in the Summer under blue sky in it. Perfect mix of performance and able to feel connected to the Landscape. You’d have to be pushing it round a track to probably feel any difference Coupe and Conv. I’d take the Conv every time. Who hasn’t watched the like putting down the roof on a summers day at lights and think flash ……. but wanted to be them in the Car😁

    Not for me I'm afraid. I'd wait for the M3 Touring or the ever cooler Alpina B3 Touring with a panoramic glass roof....

    I think what the car can do is amazing and I loved the review as always, but let’s talk about the elephant in the room. The grille, I’m sorry but for me it’s absolutely hideous. BMW M cars used to be handsome and now it’s as though they’ve designed it hungover. Maybe I’m just getting old lol

    Great review. If you take the roof off a car you will ruin the dynamics. This car is designed from the start to be a convertible, so it will be similar to the coupe.

    The reason you Brits buy more convertibles than any other country is because for the one day a year that the sun might poke its head out of the clouds for 5 mins, you folks don't want to miss it and then spend the rest of the year being shamed by your relatives for having missed it.
    I'll let myself out now.

    I’m sure it drives well, however, this type of car is all about style & the styling lets it down. It could be so much better. We have a Autovogue 428i convertible & in my eyes the styling of this M4 is not as good.

    Great video Pete thanks.
    I'm glad they still make RWD cars, because Xdrive ruins the whole experience for me. You might as well buy an Audi, or any one of the other AWD super-performance cars.
    The whole point of a BMW performance model for me, is because it's different, and a large majority of that difference is because it's RWD,
    But each to their own, and if Xdrive takes sales away from Audi then BMW marketing department are obviously making the company more profit.
    It's still ugly to my eyes, I wonder if they will do a 'westbrook special edition' !

      Dude...you can still RWD mode with the Xdrive version..

      @@Ivan-bg1jp Yes I know.
      It's not the same as a pure RWD car though. All that extra weight, loss of steering feel, etc.

    Sitting in pitch black watching this. Power off all over Aberdeenshire due to extremely windy night. Glad I don't have an EV 🙂
    Not an ideal night for a convertible.

      See that converted farm house, yeah that one a few miles away you can see with the lights on and not running a generator and didn’t even notice there was a power cut as the lights never even flickered - They are quite happy with the EV and power wall that could keep the house going for a week 😂👍without the grid.

    Hmm…Peter, I was able to buy four new BMW’s between 1985 until 1994 and so I am aware of how they drive back then and since have enjoyed many others owned by my friend including his new M5C. However…I just cannot like this one..that dreadful front, that terrible sub gloss paint looks like a cheap body wrap, the dated body design…of course it drives well..But I would never want one and at £81,000…more like £95,000, it is a crazy price. It is a good car for somebody else! 😬😬😬😬 (I’m sorry..)…and good work if you like it..a replacement for Ruby..12 months old and £49,995 would be good!! 😃

    You don’t need electric, as it might be a red herring, hydrogen could take it.

    Might have over 500bhp but with the UK legal speed limit of 70mph its all rather wasted !!!!!!! Me, I prefer my MB convertible with its 260bhp!!
