    Hello Pierre,
I live in Mexico and have my own restoration antic car shop, I am specializing in the Mercedes Benz brand. When I was a teenager, my uncle had a w111 fin tail that I loved, I dreamed about this car and asked myself what a pleasure must have been to drive these beautiful engineered cars. Fast forward in time, my uncle gave me that car because he knew that I was going to restore it to its former glory. The car is in beautiful shape and every time I take my uncle for a ride, the smile on his face is worth all the effort that took to restore this car. I have always admired the 300 Adenauer, and a few days ago, I received a call from a friend and he told me that his mechanic had an old Mercedes in his shop and that he thought that it might interest me. Being the car nut that I am, I called this person and he told me that he had a 1957 3000D Adenauer that belonged to his grandfather, he said that it had been with the family for almost its entire life, so it’s a second owner car. I went to see the car and he had every part of the car classified and stored. I am now the owner of this beautiful car that I will restore. Thank you for the information that you provided in this video, it has and will be very helpful.

My high school science teacher in the late 1970's owned and drove a 1961 300 daily to school. Mr MacGilvray raved about how practical his big old Mercedes Benz was and once used it on his farm in South Australia to plough the fields when his tractor was broken down. Thanks Pierre for bringing back some great memories.

The filming of this piece was absolutely epic. The use of sunlight and shadows in the opening was amazing. Then you are treated to Pierre explaining the car at length. It isn’t pristine or show quality. It’s a damned good driver! Exactly as it was intended to be. Thank you Pierre and Thomas!

One of my all time favorite automobiles built by Mercedes Benz. I have seen many of these cars in person, but never worked on one hands on. Pierre in Pierre fashion delivers such a complete and comprehensive overview of the vehicle, that the next time I see one at a event I will have an even deeper appreciation for the 300 Adenauer. Thank you so much for sharing Pierre Hedary !!!!

What a beautiful car. Your knowledge and appreciation are impressive. When I was in high school ('65-'68) a Mercedes 300 Cabriolet lived a half block away. A half block in ther other direction lived a Jaguar XK150. It down-shifted in front of our house each time it came home. Our family car was a '60 Cadillac Seventy-five Limousine. Since I've always been a car nut, I knew that was a special neighborhood even then. Keep on filming. You make me happy.

All these Mercedes classics are wonderful. I've had a 1963 220S, a 1963 220 SE Coupe, a 1966 W108 250S, a 1976 450SE, a 1977 W123 250, a 1987 W126 420 SEC and now a 1993 W124 300E. I have always lusted after a 300d Adenauer but I will just have to be happy to watch your informative video. I certainly would never have had the ability that you have shown in restoring this magnificent vehicle. Thank you

After listening to all too many podcasts, where the young journalists constantly use the word “like” every 2nd word, it was a real pleasure to attend this TH-cam seminar by Mr. Hedary. I have to wonder if there exists another Mercedes enthusiast who could deliver such a passionate and entertaining presentation. Much enjoyed, sir. And, I might add, what a magnificent Adenauer.

What an absolutely brilliant video! Such a beautiful car especially in that peachy hue which is very Florida. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom, I’ve never wanted to drive a car more from seeing a video on YT than this one.
Need to watch this one again I think as I was distracted a couple of times from what you were saying due to the beautiful lines of the Benz.
It must be such a pleasure to cruise around in one of these. However, if you are going to cruise around, may I suggest a wardrobe enhancement? Perhaps the following would suit the vehicle:
    Smoking jacket/blazer
    Cravat
    Pair of slacks
    Bruno Magli classic men’s shoes
    Oversize Persol classic sunglasses
Would love to see some sweeping shots of Florida/Miami at sunset with the chrome and paintwork gleaming.
    Thanks again

I would prefer to own an Adenauer like this over any SL or Pagoda. That direct overhead shot in the first minute of the video was taken with the sun at such an angle that the shadow of the star splashed onto the hood. And the tilt of the grill makes the car appear to be in motion even when it’s stationary. I’m in love.

    Stunning. Really.
I did not know the rear quarter windows were removable. Kind of makes it like a pre-war touring car, just with the top up. Not sure if it was intentional or not, but if you squint your eyes, you can see some similarity between the 300d and a Stude Hawk...they would have complimented each other in the showroom. I love love the 600, but to me space is luxury, where you have a light, airy feeling, and this 300d has space in abundance. The 600 is more closed in, and of course anything of today is downright claustrophobia-inducing with consoles, plastic angularity, low rooflines, and electronic doodads coming at you from every direction.

Quite a fine car there! The Adenauers are beautiful machines. Yours is especially interesting, though, as it looks to be an end-of-series vehicle with the W111-style steering wheel. I didn't know they were still making them in 1961. Was that the year they were replaced with the W112 air-ride Heckflosse?

the 300se was first produced for the 1962 model year...a small number of adenauers were made in 1962, and a handful of examples left the factory at the beginning of 1963.

    Congratulations on this beautiful car.
And surprisingly the gear shift knob is white along with the steering wheel (usually you see people putting in a white steering wheel, but never change the shift knob with it.
I hate to see how you cut up that radio face plate, just to put the Short wave add on, which , I guess was where the A/C sits now.
On future classic car videos I would not mind hearing that motor run before the music kicks in.
That amazing, distinct and unique sound that all Mercedes had in the fifties and sixties is abeauty to listen to and most museum cars or even car shows you never get to hear them run.

I am sorry. It was wrongly assumed, that you did that.
      The previous owner must have.
But the face where the radio is mounted is the original, you can see somebody altered it.
I actually think that there was a bigger (more rare and expensive) radio in the car with the preset radio station buttons underneath.
I can send you photos of mine, which is what I think you had before (original to the car).

I owned a 1960 300d. Unfortunately, it was badly rusted. The guy I bought it from had not taken care of it and in Northeastern, Ohio where winter salt was used to the extreme the unfortunate 300d did not fare well. Again, the guy I bought it from was unable to sell it and had it sitting in his barn, but he asked if I would be interested, and I was. I remember telling him that if it ran I would buy it. If you could imagine (this was in 1971) that he wanted $400 for it (this car had sold new for around $16,000.00, which was big, big money in 1960) I told him that if it ran I would pay him $200.00. So we went to the barn, and literally chased the chickens out of the car, he put his boat battery in it an some gas from his lawn mower in the tank and attempted to start it and nothing. Being familiar with Mercedes I asked him to lift the trunk lid, and he asked, "why would I want to do that?" I told him that the electric fuel pump was in the rear and if it was running you would be able to hear it when he tried to start the car. He tried starting and I heard nothing. So, we took the inspection cover off in the trunk put a voltmeter on the leads to the fuel pump, he turned the ignition key and there was voltage, but no turning of the pump. So, we took the pump out, and found that it was all, "gummed up" at its impeller. He cleaned it and put it back in. Hit the key and the car started immediately! He, myself, his wife and two kids piled in for a test drive and the car for having sat for about two years ran and drove beautifully! I paid him the $200 and came back a day later to pick it up and drive it home. I really wanted to keep the car, but the frame was so badly rusted that I was afraid that the whole car would collapse on itself, so I sold it for $500.00. But it was a fabulous ride and quite a conversation piece regardless of all of the rust. It was grey with a beautiful red leather interior.

Really disappointed to hear how high the cost of ownership must be, especially after seeing jaw dropping 600 w100 running costs. the w189 is stunning inside and out, And so under appreciated. aside from the 5 digit repair costs and difficulty in finding rare parts. I hope to be able to afford this one day.

Gilles, if your looking at a 380 with such high mileage you should be aware of several things- the condiiton of the timing chain, whether the head gaskets leak oil or not and the level of oil consumption. If the engine is dry, no oil is burned and the chain is ok, and of course the paint and interior are nice, then I would say go for it.

One day Pierre will give us a wider taste of the vehicles that he showcases. That’s a production issue to solve. E”e.gba A Couple of Burnouts. A pull or two. A fill up at the gas station. Exhaust burble at idle puts me in the car. I don’t remember seeing the cars height rise and fall! I did hear the bullhorn loud and clear

Nisi dostojan niti jednoj sitnici na tom autu da se podrugljivo smiješ. Možeš mu se jedino nakloniti i to dubokim naklonom. Vaša auto industrija za ovakvo njemačko remek djelo je kikiriki....
