Quick note to Joy & other doggie parents. I’ve had dogs for 45 years, and my daughter is a veterinarian in ER/Critical Care. Never feed your dog table scraps or bread, as Joy mentioned. If you only knew the damage that’s being done, with potentially serious effects. Being overweight for a dog really takes a significant toll on their organs. My own vet, as well as my daughter, recommend giving small amounts of steamed broccoli or zucchini, or cut-up cucumber, fresh raw green beans, carrot, peeled apple. All in small pieces to avoid choking, and all unsalted and unseasoned.
I agree, October is a terrible month. Two years ago my mom’s husband died and I got in the worst fight I ever had with my wife. This October my wife’s grandmother died, both of our cars suddenly broke down, our dog contracted a potentially deadly infection and required a large vet bill, and my daughter had stomach flu on top of everything
