Education, education, education. Also a positive mind set. If you're born in the ghetto and into poverty you grow up with that mentality. It's hard to break free of that mind set (I don't have anything, it's too hard, etc. etc.)

This is what the American Dream really is: bringing prosperity not only to yourself but those around you. You are fighting for the rights, abilities, and livelihoods of your fellow community and also your country, and it is truly a noble cause if there ever was one. You are not only bringing light into the world but actively recruiting others and training others to do the same. Mr. Washington, you're correct in saying that it is just getting started. Thank you so much for spreading awareness and educating us all on these various problems in a hopeful and instructive way. Also, congratulations on the Oscar Nomination! These neighborhoods like Rose City in NLR need to be uplifted and for so long I was worried that the only way that would ever happen would be through gentrification, which would have such a negative effect on the culture and character of those neighborhoods. 25:44 this reminds me of Les Misérables. And if you pay attention, the things Valjean went through in 1830s France, are the same things we still put people through today who have committed a crime. I think most people watch the show and think how awful it was _back then_ and how much we've _improved_ ... but we haven't. It's the exact same. The only way Valjean is able to escape his persecution is to take on a fake identity. And the only reason he was able to do that was because a priest took pity on him and gave him a loan ... Just like Mr. Washington is doing here. If you give people a chance, and treat them with respect. It's amazing what they will do for themselves.

This really shows what the challenges are, and how they can be addressed. Mr. Washington is an inspiration. I wonder if he can set up training and mentoring so others can set up similar empowerment banks in other communities. Bravo!

This was awesome and thank you for helping our community be great. Also for giving the people a little snidbit of the house I grew up and raised in that my Grandparents bought, it's still standing and passed down to other family members ♥♥

This film shows that you can find remarkable people and heroes anywhere, even a neighborhood barber shop.
Meanwhile, we so many clowns and idiots in political offices throughout the country.
