Yeah one piece would not be functional and probably not possible. You want to be able to have the pieces come apart so it is modular. Then you can swap out pieces or pack it for travel.
Correct. Everybody company selling aluminium masts gets them extruded. Lets them make portions of the extrusion hollow to reduce weight. Portions on the inside that wouldn't make the mast much stronger as most of the forces act on the outside of the mast. I did notice that the top plate has a side screw though which I think is a good idea as it stops the plate opening up. Failures should be limited to the mast only and not the top plate if I'm right. The extrusions are normally the cheapest part as the other pieces are CNC cut or if you're really lucky, forged.
Is the alloy setup stiffer that the A+ mast setup

Is their bottom bracket / fuse connection compatible with any other brand’s masts or fuses?
We haven’t tried but doubt it.
