I do not blame Oshae. He needs to get more playing time and more $'s as he does have some real talent and ability. Best Wishes to him and at least he got his ring!
Love brissy and his personality from day 1. But after all hes a CHampion now and his Value did go up! So.. more power to him . Its his privilege to possibly see where he can get more money🤷🏽♂️. Also he didn’t get much mins thru the season so im sure that plays a part into it as well.
All good. He got the chip. Now he should go get the bag elsewhere. Or play for his home country. if he doesnt find any takers out there, he can always come back here for the vet min. as for the celtics, its fine. Brissy cant shoot 3s. About time we develop walsh. There are also better options on cheap contracts/vet min out there like nicolas batum, torrey craig, robert covington, etc. I'm ok with bringing luke/tillman back but if we bring back both, we dont have space to get that young stretch big to train as Als replacement. This means queta has to go unless he develops a 3. Or unless tillman/luke get better at shooting 3s. This is what all the bigs should work on in the offseason.
He did his job now it’s time to move on for someone a bit better @ a cheap price tag.. Plus it’s time to give Queta // Xman & Walsh a great opportunity to produce off the bench next season
Dude, those guys are zero help for a "win-now" team. Tillman is gone (for the exact same reason). Queta is on a "practice player" contract, and will be for the next few seasons (at which point he will also be able to get more money from a non-Apron team, so he will then also be gone). And Walsh, although personally I believe he is a terrific talent, he has the status of a rookie second round pick (which is NONE), plus his is on a G-league contract (which takes his status even lower). Meaning: ZERO PLAYOFF IMPACT. A team's "playoff team" is it's top 7/8 contracts, period. Everyone else is just filler or a practice player. So all this shuffling is just standard business for a championship caliber team, and basically means nothing. All Stevens is doing is filling the bottom roster spots with CHEAP PRACTICE PLAYERS WHO KNOW AND ARE OK THAT THEY AREN'T GOING TO PLAY. Stevens SPECIFICALLY stated this at his press conference. This will be SOP for the Celts as long as Stevens is GM, meaning that there is nothing here about which to get excited. The draft is also now irrelevant to the Celts as rookies have zero championship impact, and Stevens isn't paying guarantee first round money to the 30th best player in the draft who will get zero minutes for at least the next three seasons. Regarding the draft, Stevens only job now is to find ways to package that worst pick in the draft (#30), with other assets, in order to bring in the ONE adequately statused contracted player to actually help the Celtics in the playoffs. For me, the draft holds zero excitement as the pick is just a piece of an ongoing inventory management daisy chain to find the one necessary piece to be playoff ready next season, and that actual end result will not come to fruition on draft day. That player movement will come later in the season, and may have some secondary movement prior to Stevens finding his man. So if you get excited about the potential of a pick that has zero relevance to the championship goal, then you are just out of touch with the NBA reality. Once a team is in "win-now" mode, their actual draft position and selections are non-sequitur. If your team is down far enough to be excited for their potential draft pick, your team is a perennial loser, and with Stevens as GM, Boston is now not in that club anymore. All that with this caveat: IF Zach Eddy makes it to pick 30, AND Stevens grabs him, THEN MAYBE Boston gets a true impact player with that pick. Any other rookie would take YEARS to become productive on this team, if ever at all.
You guys are just dumm. That guy has played less than half the games he's been under contract, just had another surgery, and has ZERO contract status even though he signed a decent deal. If Stevens did something the extraordinarily dumm he would..... I'll just stop right there because Stevens would never do something that stupid. Stevens bought low, sold outrageously high, and has moved on. I suggest you do the same.
I think ryan dunn can replace brissett. If Dunn falls to the second, we should be able to pick him up. That guy is the best defender in the draft, and has incredible athleticism. I think Walsh can be in the g-league for 1 more year to improve his game. Hauser probably leaves next offseason to get a crap ton of money in free agency. When he leaves, I think walsh would take his place.
Finally, someone gets it. Short, sweet, accurate, insightful. I've been watching his downward spiraling trajectory and he is a perfect Stevens acquisition. He is big, (not huge, but big), athletic, talented, has seen a championship level team from the inside, has the initial contract status of the number one pick, but currently has the salary of a second rounder, and after his terrible experiences with the Warriors and Pistons, he is currently disenchanted with the league (ie, he has no ego or expectations of himself at the moment, which is key if he comes to a stacked championship team). He is the perfect player from a cost perspective and from a "fit" perspective to fill the gap between Zing/Horford/Kornet this season, and if he settles in properly, (which seems to magically happen under the Stevens system), he is actually the one who could then adequately step in for Horford after next season. That's the long-game, and we'll just have to see how it rolls, but here's hoping!
No maam, he is actually VERY GOOD. There is just no minutes for him on this stacked team, and Stevens can't, and is not willing, to pay him his open-market price for him to just sit on the bench. If he gets adequate minutes on his next team, he will excel and a bunch of idi0t Celtic's fans will be screaming that we should have kept him, even though that is not possible. (Just like they are screaming about Blanton and Nesmith, who were both really good, but similarly there were just no minutes for those guys either.) There are a lot of exceptional NBA players who just don't get any minutes so they move around the league in secondary situations. But if/when those players get adequate minutes, they "magically" become good, when in fact they were always good, but there are extremely limited minutes to go around.
@@qt3dot14ish You make some very valid points, Sir. I've watched Oshae since college, as I've been a huge Syracuse fan, since I was a little girl. Those orange uniforms mesmerized me, just like the Denver Broncos unis did in that Super Bowl against the Cowgirls in 77, and I've been a fan of each time, ever since. After being used to so many Syracuse greats, going back to the early 80s, I never really saw Brissett as anything that stood out, although I readily admit, it's been hard watching the Cuse, for the last 15 years, as they're basically a Division 2 team now. So I guess I didn't watch him as much as guys like Derrick Coleman, Billy Owens, John Wallace, Lawrence Moten, and obviously Hakim Warrick, and Carmello Anthony in the 2003 title team. When I said he was nothing special or easily replaced, I was comparing him to other prominent reserve forwards from Celtics championship teams, like Scott Wedman and James Posey. The current team is deep, and obviously Brad Stevens knows what he's doing, so I do believe he'll be able to replace Oshae Brissett relatively easily. I really believe had Danny brought Posey back for two more seasons, we would have 3-peated, winning in 08, 09, and 2010. What do you think about Drew Peterson possibly replacing Brissett. I think Drew has some real potential. Thank you for the conversation, and feedback, Sir. I really appreciate it.
Big loss for us from a value for money standpoint! Best of luck to him - loved his hustle and energy. Hopefully we can see the emergence of Queta and Walsh this upcoming season. Svi is the player I'm most unsure about in this squad. Is there a place for him? Should there be?
@@nicholaseaster58 He was. But he just got a ring. Someone, somewhere, will think he has some of that Championship magic and give him twice what he is worth.
Nooo…this guy is a dawg!😭Loved him on the Celtics…but I can’t blame him for chasing the bag and more playing time. No hard feelings…wish him all the best!
First I want to say I don't blame him. I'm glad you got your championship O, now go get your money. The two things the Celtics absolutely need to do ASAP is extend Jayson Tatum, and give Derrick White an extension. Al Horford has one more year, and then he absolutely will retire. This is another reason why I think if I'm the Celtics, I keep Xavier Tillman, who is also an unrestricted free agent, and I also keep Neemias Queta and continue to let him develop to be the next big man to step up. The other free agents are Luke and Svi. I think I would keep them if I'm the Celtics, because they won't have to pay too much ( around 2 to 3 million for each ). I would also start letting Jaden Springer have way more minutes leading up to the start of the regular season, because I think he could be a special player, particularly on defense. And of course this would be a good time to have Jordan Walsh step up, now that Brissett is going to be leaving.
It's not his actual statistics that mattered. He was an outstanding practice player on a cheap deal, and who was ok with knowing that he was getting no playing time but who was still willing to be a great practice player. He’d be crazy not to bet on himself. He can get a better deal where he gets more playtime with another team and the fact that he now has championship experience will add value to any contract he signs as well. Good luck to him.
There is no lesson from Tom Brady. The only reason it appeared he took less money is that his wife made TEN TIMES THE AMOUNT OF ANNUAL INCOME as Brady. The Patriots used his marriage to Giesel to circumvent the salary cap. Had Brady been married to a non-superstar model, he would have taken every dime he could have, just like every other player in every other sport.
Good for him and all that, but Nemis has better hops than Brissett? Brissett is probably the best overall pure athlete on the team, on the level of Jalen Brown but quite a bit bigger. That said, the man needs to work on his game to develop his own shot. Right now all his points come from put-backs and random dunks when he cuts. On a weaker time, he will get more playing time to develop his game.
Nothing but love for Oshae. He is a true celtic, if only for a year or so.

He’s betting on himself. Good for him.
