Hey, 2 quick tips - you can strafe towards 1 direction for the spawns and they will never hit you, then just shoot them while they are stunned from missing you - you can "unload" bullets in your little pocket (like the entire box if you want), and if you move your shotgun near it, the bullet strap will be filled asap. Modding only works for PCVR, and not for standalone quest. (There is a shotgun stash in case you'd want to use it)
That's a funny thing, the sawed-off shotgun (the side by side one) has been in the game for a while BUT it's a super rare drop! It's the rarest weapon to find in the game, can't be found in stores of course, and the drop percentage for it is something super low. And it looks like you found it ASAP, that's pretty lucky, nice find! You know the other shotguns I assume, and there's 2 rare types of shotguns that can only be found as loot-- the Hunter's Shotgun (a side by side double barrel), and the Sawed-Off Shotgun which is also side by side like ya found. Hunter's Shotgun is a bit easier to find but people will still waste hours and hours trying to get one, and people can spend 10s of hours trying to get the lil' Sawed-Off. Their stats aren't different than the other sawed off and full length double barrel, so they're not better, but they might look cooler (especially the side by side awed off).
@@v-izzle6440 The side by side sawed off, to be specific, and not the over-under one we get for free near the start of the game (that's the IZh-27 sawed off I believe, and can be bought in the store, and it's the one found on our computer after the first mission or so). You could've found the rare side by side sawed off right away though! When you look at the info screen for the weapon, it'll say the weapon is simply called a "Sawed-Off Shotgun" instead of being named the "IZh-27 sawed-off". BUT, you're 100% right though, it's not a great weapon, it has the same stats as the 'normal' over-under IZh-27 sawed off. It's totally fine up close of course, or with slugs up close, but doesn't have the same range as the longer shotguns. It's real loud as well, but it handles nicely in cramped interiors. Since slugs have 100% armor penetration, even the sawed off is fine against high level enemies, but only up close, and the reloading is slow of course. The rare side-by-side double barrel sawed off IS a rare drop though, and can't be bought, so it's mainly only notable for people who are trying to collect every weapon or really like how it looks. I've never seen one on my current 50+ hour save that I'm playing on, but I've seen them in other playthroughs. The "Hunting shotgun" is also rare, that's the full length side-by-side double barrel shotgun, and it also has the same stats as the much more common IZh-27 shotgun that we can buy in the stores. The "sawed-off shotgun" and the "hunting shotgun" used to be normal shotguns in the 1.0 version of Into the Radius, but they were replaced by the IZh-27 shotguns when they did the 2.0 overhaul of the game. So now they're just able to be found as rare loot (not sure why the devs made this change but they must've had their reasons).
The shotgun challenge is totally do-able, I think the biggest issue was your strategy for spawns was way off. You just gotta strafe left or right and they'll always miss ya, but you were unfortunately always walking backwards. I recommend just strafe left/right as they're about leap, and then when they land and are stuck just either run up and slash them with a knife or machete, or just shotgun blast 'em. You can definitely do the entire game with the shotguns tho, since the slugs have good range AND 100% armor penetration (armor penetration is the main thing once facing armored enemies, of course). I think another comment covered it, but you can put loose shotgun ammo in our dump pouch on the left and then you drop the butt of the shotgun in and the ammo will get 'sucked' into the ammo loops on the sides of the shotgun. If that sounds confusing, it'll make sense when ya do it. Put like 50 loose slugs in your pouch and have the ammo loops on the shotgun empty and just dip it in, you'll hear a lil' sound and it's all filled in a split second. Very nice for doing with only one hand as well. This trick also works with the Mosin, and it's makes life much easier. The video was fun though, sorry I inundate ya with "tips"! I think you'd be able to do this challenge, no problem, if ya gave it another go.

The sawed off is rare? I just started playing and I got it almost immediately, but I figured it was a bad starter weapon so I don't use it anymore lol

I know i'm really late but the side-side shotgun is rare but the sawn-off is even more rare! I've never seen a Sawn-off side barrel before!
I recommend playing version 1.0, feels like a whole new game.

Why does the game seem so bright when you play it?
Not sure. Are you on the quest 2 version or steam VR?
