I think it’s a killer album I hope they get along enough to make some more bangers like this! It deserves a Grammy a great backstory’s no album in 15 years to come back with this! ❤
Flesh wound is an awesome dance tune and fits perfectly on the album which I love top to bottom. I recently saw them at the Fox. Personally I wanted to hear the whole album as a first set and then the classics in the second set.
They both come off as a bit unlikable on a personal level when you read from Gorman's perspective and it seems they did him dirty on a business and bandmate level. But the body of work, the great albums and songs and live performances over the years, really speak for themselves and to me, stand apart from the eccentric personaties of the Robinson Brothers who created it.
@jmacc9876 I understand the "jaded ex" perspective from Gorman, but Chris and Rich just seem like a bunch of bitches to me. I dont deny their brilliance of making great music but they seem to have zero loyalty except when it comes to.looking out for their own personal finances.
Nice review,bro..solid edition and top tier release from the band. In case anyone hasn't heard them, check out the Toronto based band - The Commoners. Heavily influenced by the BC's,Stones,Humble Pie,etc.. THey have one album 'Find A Better Way' and a second one due in June. Another great roots rock band! Rock on, T
Don't believe these reviews, I must b missing something, if ur a crowes fan from the start imho this is a very poor impersonation of a once great band, only 2 songs r even half decent, big big letdown👎
Short and sweet album, a couple of fifty year olds putting out better music than most artists half their age in 2024. It's got a lot of great riffs and fast movers, Chris still has some killer pipes and the 2 slower tunes are absolute standouts in my opinion. My only complaints are: 1, the electronic drums on the breakdown on Cross Your Fingers, they should have just kept that one as a more 70's style sonically with just acoustic drums. 2, Lainey Wilson should have actually been featured More on the track Wilted Rose. Her voice needed to be mixed louder on the chorus, and they should have even given her the second verse, this song could have had a lot more cross over appeal with a country audience. 3, although the album ends after a brisk 38 minutes, which I like and find very refreshing, still maybe 1 or 2 songs could have been a little longer by a minute or so and could have been a bit more developed, specifically Dirty Cold Sun and Follow the Moon, I don't know, maybe a longer and better guitar solo or a different breakdown or bridge or something could have made them feel more fleshed out. And lastly, in general although the guitar riffs are top notch and Rich is in fine form just laying down the songs, the sounds and the textures as the foundational guitar work, the solos are pretty weak and not super memorable on this album, not saying they sound bad, just not memorable or standout. I have no reason to believe the lead guitarist isn't capable of something better but I think the Robinson brothers and the producers let this one out into the public without any sauce on the solos and they feel a bit more bland than I would like. The guitar solos will likely evolve over time in the live setting to something way better.
I have only heard it twice, but so far it's bottom rung. No standouts like Locust Street or Greasy Grass River. All but the 2 slow songs sound the same to me - so far. They rock but there is no space to them, the sound seems too mushed together. Good bass though. At this time I would say it is better than High Water II, but maybe not as good as High Water I. I will keep playing it to get my monies worth and will probably come around to liking it. I thought 3 Snakes was weird at first, but it became my most played BC album ever. This new album though is just so... Basic sounding. Not much to it.
@@chaddynski2299 I listened to it for 3 days straight and it got better, but far from their best. There are 8 fast songs and all seem to have the same pace and feel to them and they flow together well. But the old days of Mark and Luther soloing are not being reproduced by the new guy. It's like they want Rich to be the star of the show.
Great album.

Great álbum.
Love the song Bleed it Dry...short but sweet.
Agreed. Good tune!
GREAT Album!!!!!! All 10 tracks are great
Agreed 👊
Silver Arrow records is the Crowes own label.
Ohhh gotcha. Good call
They're coming to Montreal in April, should be a good one!!!
That’s awesome! Enjoy! 🤘

If you look at the album cover, you can see they (Chris's wife) painted over Southern Harmony - you can see other earlier album art painted over too
Read Steve Gorman's book. It will put ALOT of perspective on Chris and Rich and the Black Crowes
Definitely. It’s on my list for sure

Their first album is " No Stranger" (2016). But this is not so good.
thanks for the referral - they sound great
Totally agree here… both the Stones’ Exile comparison and that it’s the best album since By Your Side 🙌🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🎸
A cool raven? Do you not think it might be a black crow?
😂
Beware, Silver Arrow puts out some Bogus pressings on colored vinyl. Love the Album sir!
That’s funny, “Flesh Wound” was the first song that grabbed me. And I’m someone whose favorite album of all time is Southern Harmony 🤷🏻♂️
Art work is okay except no track list on front or back or inner. That is frustrating.
Best Crowes album since Moneymaker
Stop
@@earthsucks9555 Nope
You can't be serious. It sounds pretty phoned in, to me.
@@randycunningham7318 Sounds great to me.
Some great songs on the album. but damn some songs are so polluted musically. Just lots of noise from differents instruments.
I agree, there is no space to be heard, it's all mushed together. Nice bass though.

@@JohnSheppard-o1oI think there is a conspiracy to push this album. You're not missing anything!
listen to the new Priest. That's my pick for best rock album of 24
Love the new Priest! That’s my top metal album so far for sure

Is it a cool raven...or a black crow?😂
Pipien!!!!!! Not Pipin

It is effin killer
Totally agree, probably the worst album I've heard from them. Its not the same Crowes album as past ones.So disappointed in this

Flesh Wound sounds like a cheap trick song to me
If thats the album of the year music is in a sad state.
The best? Not at all. This band is dead without Gorman.
He wasnt the original drummer. Get over it.
Bullshit.
That said, it is not their best although a solid album.
I call BS. This album is not that good.
Sorry you didn’t like it
