Davvy, love the channel and your thoughtfully structured lessons. Couple of inaccuracies on this one that need to be addressed. (1) When you demonstrate the verse, you're missing two beats after "him" and "like I told you". The song stays in straight 4/4. Because "him" lands on the third beat (on Emaj), you need to wait two beats to start the E maj riff. I know this from embarrassing experience. In a band situation, it will cause a small train wreck. It's a subtle thing that tons of people miss and I've even heard a recording where Jerry spaces it. (2) On the chorus, the "oh" in "oh he's gone" and the "bring" in "nothing's gonna bring him back are E7 (not B). Same during the F#m instrumental. This was a struggle for me to figure out, too as I thought the chord was D. RUkind.com gets this half right, but jdarks captures it correctly in his tab. Apologies for being critical, you are really doing phenomenal work here and I've learned a lot from you - please keep 'em coming!
Yeah, you’re right. Thanks for this. I realized this after putting it up. I felt really stupid for leaving it out. I’ll pin your comment to the top so people can read it. I really appreciate stuff like this. Thank you.
Hey mate. 10-9-77- It’s got a pretty good end scat. It sent me here looking to add he’s gone to my repertoire and I saw your comment about your buddy. Easter’s coming, All the best to you and yours and set aside the day to remember our brothers and sisters we’ve lost along the way
Hey , I was just lookin' to see if I was playin' this right and I was. Now you have a new subscriber to deal with HA! Peace from Southwest Michigan. 💀👍🧠🌌♾🎸🎼🎵🎶❤🌹 How bout Wharf Rat?
At the end of verse when it goes from B back to E you gotta hit the high E notes then hit the low E starting the riff instead of just hitting the E as one, its like half a beat off or something
You mentioned, "John Bartlett," do you mean Johndavid Bartlett? I'm doing some reading and wondering more about this guy. There isn't much info. What do you know? What do you mean about his relationship to the dead when you mention him as a poet alongside Robert Hunter? I'm very curious.
Back in the 70s the guy who sold me my weed was a deadhead. He always had an album spinning. So many times I asked him "who is this?" After a while it became a running joke. No matter what song we heard he would say it was the dead. I was confused in those days. But, 50 years later i get it. What I wouldn't give to see D&Co at the Sphere.
Just so you know, Mickey did not HAVE to leave the band, they actually preferred he stay. He was embarrassed by what his father did, and other situations that he left on his own and returned for their last show of '74
@@TobyDavvy I like your style of teaching and explaining the chords and the rhythm pattern in a simple easy for us to learn way! Also the funny entertaining way delivery helps!. Looking to learn from you more my friend! Thanks
Theres 2 musicians no one should play. Thats Neil Young and Joni Mitchel. They both are too Royal to have them condescend to Earthlings.. Play Jerry All ya want! We love to see him laugh! lmao jk

Start with E major
