Vox AC30 Part 2 Restoring the Output Section

In part 2 we restore the output section. The capacitors changed, the screen resistors and grid stoppers changed and some mods on the component mounting to make this amp safer. This AC30 is in a sorry state but we aim to restore it to it's former glory.

I always find it amusing when people come up with the same solutions to problems. In this case I mean using the solder spool to hold the cap down while silicone dries. I do that all the time. It’s only a problem when the spool starts getting light. Then I’m searching like chicken with its head cut off for something of similar weight and size 😊

Hello William. Ha ha yes, I know what you mean. I always think that I must find a proper tool for the job but then always forget to find one, and then find my self reaching for the spool again. Old habbits die hard.

thanks for the fast response en all best wishes for you too.
I'm working on the same type ac30 early 60 years. It was full of dirt inside (caused by beer and smoke I think:) which was not easy to clean. I replaced the valves and its working now, but still a noise (50Hz I think). probably have to replace some capacitors.
Also the vib/trem switch must be replaced, but I can't find it on the internet. Do you have an idea where to get that component?

Do you think the chinese ones sound as good as the origials? I have never played through any of the newer ones.
