Beautiful. Really liked “Melancholy” and “Darkness Prevails.” I love B&W imagery, there are times when there is more emotion in monochrome than in color. One of my early teachers had us shoot only in B&W. He said it would help us learn composition and balance. He said, color images are preferred because: “color is color is color is color.” He was pretty eccentric... RIP Mr. A. And, dude. Get some 👖 already! 🤣
🩳 👍🏻👍🏻. Many thanks Jim and I agree with your teacher it definitely makes you work harder on those areas and improves your eye for composition- the morning definitely leant itself to exploring bnw and I had a great time even with the frozen fingers - the legs are well adjusted to the cold now so no worries there 😂
Great shots Andrew. The first with the tree was my fav. Really beautifully compared. Wonderful location mate. Thanks for sharing the video enjoyed watching 👍🙏
Only freezing on the fingers after I'd been flying the drone with no gloves. - the legs are always fine and hardened to any weather ha ha !! Thanks as always Russ :)
What a great opener...feel as though I am flying by the seat of my pants attached to your drone! :-) We just had hail yesterday evening...one moment the sun was shining and just a couple minutes later everyone was heading for protection! So many great areas to explore...even in the cold...nothing a good pair of heated gloves couldn't take care of...lol...You get back home, have a nice hot cup of tea, and look forward to a fantastic weekend!
A pair of gloves would have been a good idea for sure ha ha and glad you enjoyed the fast paced opening ! Definitely some very changeable weather around at the moment for sure which does make for great photography if you are in the right place at the right time - big thanks as always and stay safe 🙏🏻
Fantastic video, Andrew! I love black & white photography so it was wonderful seeing how you took these scenes and created B&W works of art. I especially liked Quest at 5:49. The movement of the clouds coupled with the placement of the folly really stood out to me.
Great comments that are much appreciated Walter and thank you kindly. I really enjoyed making the film and using the folly as my subject and the weather dictated that bnw was the best genre to shoot. I don’t do much monochrome but I do like these images and was pleased with the trip. Thanks again.
Hello Andrew, awesome photos and location. I missed this video, I have been so busy this spring. The warm weather here is so inviting after the long winter. There is so much to do and enjoy outdoors this time of year for me. Enjoyed your video very much. 😊
Thanks Sandra 👍 No problem and I think I have one of yours to catch up on too ! With the better weather (and longer days and less restrictions) it's time to do more outdoors and not stuck on a PC ha ha ! Appreciated as always and take care :))
Thanks Andrew, I hope you had/are having a great long weekend, a very interesting subject, I think if it was close to my place i would visit it on a regular basis' Did enjoy the first image best, but enjoyed the others as well, the most flattering view point is the drone shots especially the last. Thanks for sharing I always enjoy your videos
Very kind words Tony and thank you for the continuing support - it’s a great spot and interesting to explore such a small area and create different compositions of the same subject which the conditions helped with of course. Many thanks again and take care
Andrew- really lovely drone images- pretty colors. Using black and white makes a nice moody photo of the Solomon’s Temple! (I would be so cold in shorts!)
Hi Jennifer - thanks so much - black and white really reflected the mood up here and it was my fingers that were dropping off after flying the drone with no gloves !
Hi Andrew! Beautiful location, lovely to see your black and whites! The tree image is wonderful with the leaning branches, and I really enjoyed the light in the next two images, especially the light on the escarpment and the tower. I hope you had a relaxing getaway and warmed up with some hot chocolate! Big like! 👍
Ah bless you and big thanks Jennifer. So glad you liked the images and it was a great break thank you in a beautiful area. so much to explore and some great trails to walk with our dogs too . And yes a big breakfast and hot drink was in order when I got back to the caravan !!
Well done for sticking with the shorts Andrew, despite the 3 degrees temperature! 😂 I thought that first composition was great - really moody. The blurred clouds just provide that extra element of movement which really adds a lot to the images. I've never tried Lee filters, but I've heard good things about them.
Thanks 👍 It was the fingers that were chilly - the legs were fine !! I'd been flying the rone with no gloves so they were dropping off as I filmed the intro !! Yeah Lee or Kase are good ones to compare and contrast - I'm happy with the Lee ones and they worked just AOK for these shots - Enjoy Wales !!
I liked quest and melancholy. Nice long exposure on Quest. Sorry not commenting last episode but have been very busy preparing for my travels coming this weekend. Have a good one Andrew.
Great video. The long exposure really does bring out the motion in the images. Your a braver man going out with shorts on. 🤪 bet it was good just to get back to the car.
Hi Andrew Really enjoyed the vlog, the shots looked very striking in monochrome. Great subject and I loved the movement in the clouds. The Peak District is a wonderful part of the world. I’ve been there myself a few times but a few years back now. Best Wishes Tim 😊👍
Many thanks Tim and it was a great wander around and trying out the LE with the 10 stop I felt really worked well in the windy conditions. Much appreciated and thanks 😊
Another exceptional video. The drone video continues to be outstanding. Love the shorts at 2 degrees. Loved the dramatic B&W tree. I think the Second image works is the strike of cloud off to the right. The third shot was also interesting. I personally don’t care for the Ghost affect around the building. I really look forward to your videos. I get a lot out of them. Travel safe. BTW, I am standing in 40 mph wind trying to capture a shot of light moving across rolling farm land. It’s a good deal warmer but I am bundled up like it is the middle of winter. 🤠
Hey Shawn that was a good spot on the ghost which I tried to edit out but failed ! I didn’t want him in and only realised he was there when I got the image home but hey ho ! Sounds like you are in a right storm ! We are heading off today on a trip and our destination weather forecast is for similar winds and rain ☔️ Could be interesting 😂😂 Safe travels and enjoy your journey and big thanks 😊
Solomon’s Temple.....I have a plan for that folly later on in the year. I’ve not actually been up to it before though, always admired from a couple of hills over (which will be where my planned shot will be from). So thanks for the show up close. Excellent video Andrew, brill drone work mate and hope you had an ace weekend away just 👍🏻
Does it involve the moon by any chance ?? And thank you Dave we had a great time , the dogs loved walking the Monsal Trail and I’m finally getting the exercise to shed a few of the COVID pounds gained 😂😂 Much appreciated and hope Blea Tarn delivered ! Have a great week 👍🏻
@@AndrewHamiltonPhotography haha yes it's pretty obvious isn't it.....well the moon or the rising sun - I will certainly aim for both over the course of the coming year........as you know though, timing will be everything and so much can go wrong even with the most precision planning, so if I get either I'll be happy. Blea Tarn was excellent - but you were right - the midges were everywhere.......even this early in the year! Have a great week :)
LOL looked liked you couldn't get out of there fast enough at the end, its a week of winter here in Australia and today is 24 degrees. The first image was my favorite with the temple framed in by the tree and the cloud movement. Another fantastic video mate and drone skills are getting really good. thanks Andrew and have a great trip/holiday
Ha ha thanks mate and appreciate the awesome comments. It was a great little explore and a great spot to shoot and I think the folly would make for a good super moon shot from a neighbouring hill also. Thank again and have a good week
I thought that you would know this spot Oliver ! We had a wander to Millers Dale on the Monsal Trail which was beautiful and such a great place for walking
Great video Andrew! Loved the drone footage of the beautiful surrounding area to start off with! I think it's interesting that for some a blanket of clouds facilitates hitting the snooze button, while for me I run for my camera bag and am out the door. I think that comes from living in the Western U.S. for many years where there is nothing but cloudless skies day after day. I'll be honest, I've never been a fan of B&W photography, especially in landscape photography, I just don't understand not wanting to capture the colours of the landscape BUT I honestly thought it worked really well in this instance! "Quest" and "Darkness Prevails" were both outstanding images for their moodiness and I'm just a sucker for clouds being stretched out from a long exposure. Great stuff. Really enjoyed this one, as always. Crazy weather over there this spring. Just watched Chris Sale's new video and looks like a lot of the trees don't have their leaves there quite yet. But fear not, summer and relative warmth is right around the corner! Looks like a lovely time had on your long weekend in Buxton! Hope all is well over there, chat soon!
Ha ha I knew there wasn't a burning sunrise to be had hence the snooze but I get where you are coming from ! The morning definitely leant itself towards bnw (which to be fair I don't often shoot - waterfalls sometimes and coastal daytime images) but as a rule it's colour. That said there's some heavy wind and rain forecast over here so all the colour gets washed out and bnw does suit the mood - we could debate for hours ha ha !! It was a bit tough flying the drone with the High Wind Velocity warning going but I'm glad I did and the wind played a blinder to capture those clouds. Glad you enjoyed the images and the film and yes everything is a bit late blooming this year - full of a heavy cold btw and with a bad cough and high temp I did take a test but thank goodness it was negative - just good old man flu ;) Off to Cornwall tomorrow in the caravan so hoping to shot a few images and make a few vlogs while we are away for Mrs H's birthday :)) All the best mate and big thanks :)
@@AndrewHamiltonPhotographysorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Hope it is short-lived and hope you feel better for your trip to Cornwall! Travel safe!

@@AndrewHamiltonPhotography shame about the coat hindering the mic... But on a ten minute video it was tolerable! Gotta keep that core warm. Cheers buddy.
Need to get a decent mic - the dead cat keeps coming off so I tend to wear it inside and I didn't realise how much it interfered with the sound this week :( Leave that one with me !!
Nice landscape photography tips.

amazing footage)
Thanks a lot!
Always wondering how to train myself to see interesting landscape around.
The best way is to practice, look from different angles, different heights and perspectives. Just get out with the camera and shoot and practice :)
