- Welcome to a week in the life of a medical student! Block 3, week 8 of cardio/renal! The week before final exams ooooof but we got this✨😌🌦️
If you don't already know me, my name is Ethan, and I am a first-year med student here at UCLA. In addition to being a full-time med student, I'm passionate about community-building, public health, and writing. Also, as part of my quest to live simply and minimally, I live out of a self-converted campervan! 🚐🤠
I have three goals with these weekly videos:
1. To inspire future generations of young people
2. To reflect deeply on my new life as a medical student and grow into a more compassionate, disciplined, and intentional individual
3. To capture my experience and share it with family and loved ones back home
If you want to join me on this journey, please support this project by liking, commenting below, and sharing the video with someone you think will benefit.

Thank you so much 🫶
Hi Ethan, like your videos. May I ask if it is safe to live in a van, especially at night? Just curious, have fun in Uni🌼
Hey. Thanks for your question. Safety is relative, so my view of what is safe will most definitely differ from someone else's. But I feel safe 99% of nights and make sure to park in safe areas and pay extra attention to my surroundings :)
@@ethanliebross Hi, Ethan that's great to know! Keep on smiling have a wonderful time studying🌼
Awesome video!
thx so much for the love!!
Great video bro❤
thanks so much!!
Do you feel like with living in a van you spend a lot of time there like you would an apartment? Or do you pretty much only go there to sleep?
Hey Josh! Thanks for the question. Due to the nature of med school, I feel like I spend most of my time at school studying and yeah pretty much coming back to the van at night to sleep. But I do like going on adventures with the van and hosting ppl over as much as I can.
@@ethanliebross love that! Thanks for the response
You got this SIR or DOC
treat hyperK with insulin to push the K+ back into the cells and dont forget the D50 🙂 hyperK can cause all sorts of issues.
Thanks SO much for the tips :)
@@ethanliebross I deal with hyperK all the time at work. Usually with our acidotic septic pts
@@ethanliebross there is also Albuterol but it does not work as quickly or efficiently. In the UK they give Albuterol IV for hyperK
What specialty are you interested in ? Also it seems like a big class at your school ....do you get enough coaching and support by the school staff ??
Hi! Thanks for your questions. At this stage (halfway through first-year) I'm interested in primary care (i.e., family med, med-peds, internal med), but still not 100% sure. In terms of support, I feel SO supported at school. The faculty are all super approachable and kind. I feel like these is not much of a hierarchy here, faculty tend to treat us students as equals, which I really appreciate.
