I had met Mr Vijaykumar at a function. A very simple and unassuming man, dedicated to his work. Looking at him, it is difficult to believe that he would kill anyone. But killing Veerappan, when the criminal did not surrender, was a call of duty for Mr Vijaykumar.

I was seeing some TH-cam comments of videos with respect to Veerappan . Both Kannada and Tamil videos and in both the videos , I have seen some people have applauded Veerappan for his heroism, honesty and valor. Majority people don't support criminals but it's said that this guy was different and some nationalists and his region people only loved him and let's know the reason for it Who was Veerappan? Well Veerappan was a elephant tusk smuggler as well as Sandalwood smuggler who lives in the forest or western ghats borfering TN and Karnataka. For a period of 20 years, he lived in the forest and smuggled bearky 100 crores of worry of sandalwood and tusks. Just like Ravana didn't have all the bad characters and he did have some good characters , Veerappan was too the same But yes there are some who support him especially his region people and few online people. No one talks about him presently and he doesn't have a statue for that matter. He is criminal but there were so many criminals in the name of police who raped the Villages and women around the villages where Veerappan lived and no one speaks about them. They are not punished and they would have retired peacefully. Why? I don't know how many of you saw the recent Netflix series about Veerappan but it's very good and I liked it because it was more neutral and not just one side story. They have enlightened about the horror done by the forest officials and the STF there. I will just point of some good and negative things about him and the others which I saw in the series As per the series and other videos I have seen( so not my comments) 1.Veerappan is said to be non - alcoholic and also a non womaniser. That means he aware of the things he was doing as well as he didn't touch any women other than his wife. 2.He is good to good people and bad to bad people . 3.Its said that he had killed Srinivas, a STF because he was in affair with Veerappan’s sister and also she was pregnant with Srinivas child.( Even before marriage or was it rape!) 4.Some say he had killed nearly 1000 elephants in the forest but some say that the majority of the elephant killings were done by other smugglers and they had put the whole name on him. Some people say even the forest officials were doing the smuggling I am not sure of true it is. 5.He has killed nearly 120 people in his lifetime and out of this nearly 44 were police and the others were his enemies or opposite gangs. If you see the pictures and videos or even the Netflix , villagers cry for the dead men and police initially but things later turned to change. So it was not one sided thing. 5.When the police wanted to know about Veeapapan, they once burned down the whole village of Nallur near Karnataka - TN border.l and raped the women and some of them of killed! Are you telling me we can justify the police actions- The people who did this are roaming freely but the leaders were killed by Veerappan later. ( in the series it's told). When the interviewer asks the retired police officer in the series ,he tells that he doens't remember anything now . How can a person forget that was did by him and his friends? This is not only about the Karnataka police, even the TN police led by Rambo Ramkrishnan did the same as those times there was no phone and as the villages were near the hills and separate, these people were able to do all the nonsense. 6. It's said that the later these police established workshops where they used to give villages shock treatments and all. In the video , you can again see that police officer telling that “ Whole TN used to get nervous when they hear the word”. Is that workshop for the criminals alone or for normal people? Sadly even normal people had to undergo the treatment. I seriously don't know what the villages had to endure. All these made the villages to support Veerappan because he never harmed any innocent people as per the villagers. He used to help them with money when they had problem financially. 7. During the investigation time, they had taken some 10 innconcent guys and killed them in the Forest .This is also shown in the series. So if the police were proper, people would hate veerappan but here it was quite opposite. 8.Its said that Veerappan was also a fan of Rajkumar when he kidnapped him and Rajkumar was held hostage for nearly 90 days or 3 months and when Rajkumar was released, they both hugged each other and cried. They had developed friendship and this is also told by the relative of Rajkumar was with him for 90 days.( see the series). They used to sleep next to each other and Veerappan was so causious about not to harm Rajkumar by his other men. 9.One person says , that if government has given them proper jobs ,they would have not taken up smuggling. The 90s is when TN started to develop but still Dharmpuri district is the most backward district of TN but now it's also improving. He was a smuggler, killed animals and harmed people who harmed him but it's said that he supported innconcent people and didn't give them any problems. That's why some people and his villagers love him. That's the reason , its important to know the whole story.
Both sides of the same coin it's just the point of view of people but even if everyone loves or hates him,we all cannot reject the reality,if he did good then it's great but if he did bad then he deserved death

Perhaps it was his abiding interest in his chosen subject that had not just enabled him to come out in flying colours in the Geological Survey of India (GSI) examinations but also leave no stone unturned in his quest to weed out those involved in crime! “My father felt that the family tradition of serving the police department should be carried on. So Shakeel eventually became a policeman, although he was so brilliant that he had even passed the IAS preliminary exams,” explained his brother Jameel Ahmed. Shakeel`s postings took him to Chikmagalur as also the State special branch, Bangalore and eventually Mysore. In 1988, he was made part of Lashkar Mohalla police station in his hometown Mysore. Mysore Aug 31: For the young and upright police officer, Shakeel Ahmed, the icy arm of death must have felt even more cold when it reached out and grabbed him on Aug 14, 1992.
By all accounts he wasn’t afraid of death. But dying at the hands of the one man whose extermination had become his maniacal obsession - brigand Veerappan - must have been quite galling.
Much water has flowed down the Palar river in Veerappan`s bastion since the day Shakeel fell, martyred by a hail of bullets from the muskets of
Veerappan and his gangsters. But his selfless deeds live on.
His father Abdul Kareem`s “bitter fight to the last drop of my blood,” is what has now galvanised the Supreme Court to directly intervene in la` affaire Veerappan.
Shakeel Ahmed joined the Karnataka police service in 1981, armed with an M.Sc in Geology. A no-nonsense police officer, he was the scourge of many.
Perhaps it was his abiding interest in his chosen subject that had not just enabled him to come out in flying colours in the Geological Survey of India (GSI) examinations but also leave no stone unturned in his quest to weed out those involved in crime!
“My father felt that the family tradition of serving the police department should be carried on. So Shakeel eventually became a policeman, although he was so brilliant that he had even passed the IAS preliminary exams,” explained his brother Jameel Ahmed.
Shakeel`s postings took him to Chikmagalur as also the State special branch, Bangalore and eventually Mysore. In 1988, he was made part of Lashkar Mohalla police station in his hometown Mysore. It was then that Shakeel went hammer and tongs putting the junkyard (Gujari) mafia on tenterhooks. They were just not allowed to breathe freely.
It was towards the end of 1989 that SP Bipin Goplalkrishna, who knew all about Shakeel`s acts of guts and gumption, drafted him on sporadic missions to make inroads into Veerappan`s territory.
Shakeel first encountered Veerappan in 1990, during the Silvekkal operation, which resulted in the seizure of ivory worth over 1.25 crore. It was one of the biggest tragedies faced by the Karnataka police - the killing of four sub-inspectors and the injuring of a few more - by Veerappan near
Hogenakal, that made Shakeel rush back from Panjim and dive headlong into the operations of the STF.

sorry bro- he was not a robin hood at all, he killed many poor people too who didn't obey him and did his dirty work and he was kind to only those who obeyed him without blinking an eye and opening their mouths and using their brains and listening to their hearts-as simple as that.
but your second point is right, these dirty and criminal politicians and rich guys groomed him, supported him till he was useful to them once they felt threatened that he is getting out of control and challenging their supremacy then they devised plans and killed him (they didn't catch him alive and try him in the courts because they knew he would definitely expose them). How you think he survived for over decades hoodwinking 2 states police, crpf etc? only due to the support of politicians from both states irrespective of any party , criminal and corrupt businessmen and police officials too.
