    Disappointing to see so many people questioning why Amelia is trying EMDR in the comments. She clearly said she knows it's a method used against trauma and she needs help with that herself.
    Trauma is not competitive. It's not our business to know what her trauma is or for strangers on the internet to decide if her trauma is traumatic enough. People can be so unkind.

      People can be so sensitive and out of order. Just because someone’s social standing is different to others, doesn’t invalidate their feelings. What happened to “be kind” and more importantly, mind your own damn business

      It’s hard enough to share you’ve faced trauma. Be vulnerable, also you judge yourself thinking is your situation that bad . So having strangers adding to that doesn’t help

    I've done EMDR it was very helpful. It's nothing to be scared about but it is very intense at the start and gets better over time. Probably wouldn't recommend doing it on a packed day of work and take time to wind down in the early sessions. Hope it goes well for you❤

    I have had EMDR for a traumatic experience. I was very unwell and never thought I would ever not feel traumatised. EMDR worked. I would say that we are all individual as are our experiences. However, I think it is important to give yourself time pre and post EMDR appointments especially after a session. It can be extremely draining. Lots of self care. I needed at least a couple of hours but my experience is not representative of all. If you struggle to follow the hand movements I know psychologists successfully use hand tapping during EMDR.

    Am I awake at 5 am (U.S.) watching this? Yes. Yes I am 😎 Also, everyone has different levels/interpretations of trauma. No one should judge or question why she’s in therapy. I think what’s important is someone with her platform is talking about it and working to better her mental health. 😊

    EMDR? Highly recommend it, it helped me a lot. Essentially what it does is it helps the brain reprocess trauma from the emotional side of the brain to the logical side of the brain where you can actually deal with it. It’s hard, first because you have to relive the trauma, second because you have to try to examine your trauma as you relive it. Theory is that each time you relive it, your brain transfers more and more of the memory from that emotional side to the logical side of your brain. Therefore, each time you re-examine the memory the less emotional you’ll be about it, and the less harmful it will become for you. Sort of like internal exposure therapy. I found the process both exhausting and elating all at the same time, and I mean that in both the physical and emotional sense. It is not a therapy that should be performed without a trained and licensed professional, because that professional is your guide and they are best equipped to handle anything negatively impactful that might occur. I highly, highly recommend, but again only under the guidance and supervision of a trained licensed therapist/ psychiatrist. Best of luck Amelia, be kind to yourself during the process. It can be long and hard but when you’re done you will realize that you’re stronger and more resilient than you ever thought you were.

    I’ve done EMDR therapy for almost a year now and it has changed my life. Sorry, I know this is a bit of a late comment but I think it’s great that you’re doing it. I love hearing/seeing more people explore different kinds of therapy! I hope it’s working as well for you, as it has for me 😊
    Also, I hope this is not me overstepping in any means but as someone who suffered severely from IBS for many years, through emdr and other forms of therapy, I learned it was mainly due to my trauma. I know you struggle with IBS as well and was wondering if you had looked into your stomach issues possibly being a factor of previous traumas. Again, so sorry if this is overstepping/assuming on my part. I just wanted to share because it was something I was unaware of for so long and has helped in my recovery journey! ❤️❤️

    • @charlottecharliechaz
      @charlottecharliechaz ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah that's absolutely right! My therapist mentioned EMDR and when I researched it, realised it was for trauma and PTSD. That was absolutely NOT me and as much as my issues are my issues I was NOT thinking of this as trauma compared to why others should use EMDR, exactly as your story explained. I hope you are doing well and sending good vibes xx

    • @Ariel-oi2zg
      @Ariel-oi2zg ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@charlottecharliechazsuper interesting you say that. For some reason I feel like EMDR is just now used as this hip/tendy thing. Super dope that people are looking into their mental health and looking into other options. As a mental health practitioner, it just frustrates me that people throw theses ideas around without really taking the time to stop/pause and research what they are getting into

    I have seen other people say this on other videos and clearly you have decided to ignore it, but it’s worth putting out there. Kanye is a very good reason to boycott skims. You seemed to get this. In fact, you were one of the first people I saw speak out about it. So your stance now is really disappointing. There is a massive difference between you, a person with a significant public platform, continuing to wear and even buy skims while keeping it to yourself, and repeatedly telling the world how great their products are while giggling about how you know you said you were boycotting them. I mean, you were talking about a bra today ffs. Literally nobody would ever have known, but you gave them positive publicity anyway. It’s very sad.

      Exactly, trauma is very individual, but also, she was robbed with knife held to her so please be more respectful about other people’s mental health❤

      yes a knife attack is traumatic but she did survive & thrives in life so no its time for society to stop using that word & as far as I can see, she doesnt overuse it either. Please be respectful of other peoples opinions & views. Perhaps consider the trauma the 9 year old kids just experienced in the US ?

      @@Ericthegreat1483 theres many forms & levels of trauma but honestly it is used all the time by young adults, as a child psychologist this overuse places obstacles for the genuine victims .

      She is naturally dramatic, I’ve noticed. Possibly very insecure especially when around other bloggers. Possibly why guys are put off. I do like her though.
