Mine will forever be Chrono Trigger, favorite game of all time. Sea of stars was nice to have something similar in more modern times, but I really wish something could come close to the Chrono Trigger experience.
Hi Brandon, thank you. I recorder more videos on this topic, now just have to edit them. Pixel art and retro games are ideal for learning game dev principles
@Frankslaboratory question how would you go about optimizing the tilemaps? Is there any way to optimize them? draw them using open gl? use chunk system? is or make biger tile precomponents? that are created from multiple tiles? so its drawn as 1 bigger image? what i mean is does canvas reduce draw calls by drawing all the tilles at the same time as single draw call? Another idea i am thinking about is it possible to create a tile map editor that after the map is done for example 100x 100 tile maps, into 10 chunks. and those chunks are saved as seperate images insted so only 10x 10 biger tiles would be loaded? would that be more efficient? or is it better to load more but less weighty tiles then , less but heavier tile chunks? I am thinking about multilayer tiles for more details, optimization apperoches are welcome :) any advice? :D
Awesome!! I'm building a pokemon like style game on canvas I already got the city I use a camera system too. now it's time to put it to work. you're awesome!!
Congratulations, I'm Brazilian, I really like your work, sorry for the bad English, I'm still learning, I would like to know if there is any way to prevent players from cheating, and is it very easy to modify values in browser games?
Hi, yes, that's one of the best ways to detect collisions. If I was making this pixel art game into something like Vampire survivors I would probably use circle collision detection. If all characters stick to a grid then grid based collision would be the simplest and the most effective option.
You can do something very similar I just did with this video but for a collision map. Too much for a comment to explain. I will get to that in this series
@@Frankslaboratory The idea is very simple, but the realization is quite complex. I think it is hard to make a beginner friendly coding video for that. But the concepts fits perfectly.
What's your favourite pixel art game?
the sims bustin out for GBA my favorite childhood game and urbz in the city GBA.
Ugh!

Xenon megablast and Shadow of the Beast
@@mrchibi7879 There is pixel art Sims. Never knew, thanks :D
The pixel art series is going to be amazing Frank, thanks for taking the time to teach us about this.
Hi Jesus, thanks, I'm having a lot of fun making pixel art games now, still choosing which one will be the final project of this series
I linked some alternative sources of free tile maps you can use, if you know more I will add them to the list
Pixel art is awesome! Glad that you published video on this topic, Frank!

Greate tutorial as always
Now that I have the basics down, I'm ready to remake dark souls in javascript.
It's been a while since I played a new soulslike. Looking forward to the LambChomp version
Excellent, works perfectly.
Thanks for letting me know. Nice to meet you Franz
Very interesting and clear headed teaching!
Very kind feedback, thank you
Great video as always! I always learn so much from these.
Hi Timothy. Glad you found some value
@frankslabiratory Are you planning to prepare a video in which you will discuss isometric tilemaps?
Thank you, Frank! Thank you for your hard work!
I'm here to help :D
Your so cool man i wish i have the talent and skills and hardwork like you, anyways thank you for this i really love pixel art designs for games
Hi Ryujin, very kind to say, thank you. I love pixel art as well :D
Excellent! I also checked it in Udemy. Frank we should have a video on best practices to package , minimize, protect and deploy js code
Another great video!

Hi Joseph. Nice work. Are you using a library for the camera or did you write the logic yourself?
@@Frankslaboratory I wrote the logic myself, no library or whatsoever.
@@josephcieplak8920 Awesome
I still have difficulties with this, thanks for the teachings! 😊😊
I hope my explanations help, it can be a challenge at first yea
Weee, thanks a lot Frank!!!!!
Happy to help :)
Awesome as always! @FranksLab - What would be the best place for a complete beginner to start, from your TH-cam videos or which of your Udemy courses?
Terrific!! Thank youuuuuuu!
Thanks Javi
Amazing

Next one: using wave function collapse with tiles to create generative maps
That would be interesting to explore
Do you take this challange Frank? I'm really hope so
Nice 🔥🔥
Thanks 🔥
Hey Frank I have a question, can we make circle collision detection through (distance between their center points

Welcome
How can we add collision detection for every tile. ?(I only know the basic rule you have given)
You can do something very similar I just did with this video but for a collision map. Too much for a comment to explain. I will get to that in this series
Coming up next: Wave function collapse level generator
I need to check how people do that, I think that last time I checked I thought it was quite complex to implement for a beginner friendly tutorial

@@markuszeller_official Yea, I think we agree on that, I'm looking into it
I bet you will love it.
This would be great! We need this 😊
You are the best you are amazing
Plz can you make ninja turtles game by js
I would love to do a classic arcade Beat 'em up like that Ninja Turtles game I show here
