Thank you for your review. I just picked up this board and rode it a few days ago. I love it. I really agree with your comment about it wanting to be on rail. This board just wants to turn. I'm riding it as a quad using Noel Salas' fins. It's fast and highly responsive vs the many other mid length boards I ride. Even though it's a 7'2" I don't feel the length at all. Instead it feels more like a short board. I love it. This will take my surfing to the next level(s). Thanks again!
I love my Chilli Mid Strength! The thing paddles like a dream, catches waves so easily, and it turns really well. It is such a fun & easy board to surf! I feel like it is good from 2' to 10' surf so it has a huge wave range too. I have been riding it as a thruster. I am going put some twins in and give that a go soon too just to how it rides as a twin.
Hey mate, I love your review. I had the mid strength epoxy 6.8 it was amazing. I just felt the epoxy wasn't right for me in choppy conditions. Very responsive and manoeuvrable on the tail, I surfed it as a twin. I'm hesitating between the same in pu or the CI mid length. Which one is more high-performance, and which one is more all-rounder?
Hey bud, my top lock for all rounder is the CI with the 2+1 fin setup - absolutely love it. The Chilli is great for chunky and powerful surf, especially as a quad. I am waiting for a CI mid twin to try out. Thanks for watching and engaging.
Needs a lot of wave to get going.. more of a big guy step up. The difference is night and day conpared to the ci mid. Ci mid has way more drive. That Chili midstrength will excel in 5-8 ft long period indo waves, where you would have too much speed on the ci mid
Wow thanks man. They both great boards. If you going for a more performance based mid then the Chilli will tick the box, if you want something a little more cruizy and rail ortientated then the CI.
@@TheRegularGuyReview thanks so much. just bought a beat up old mid strength and have tried it out once in very small waves here in Bali. wave count is already increasing and one day I'll rip half as well as you (only started surfing 2 years ago and I'm 52 so this is gonna help me eventually get back on my 5'10 dumpster diver which I love). swell is back in 3 days then I'll get a chance to try to step on the (yellow) tail. I'll decide how I feel about this board vs my Chilli Miami Spice groveller. Any thoughts on groveller (6.0/22.5/39l) vs this board?
Shame you couldn't get a Dutchie Twin Pin Mid. I've recently got a 7'2" with channels and its something else. Never thought I'd ride aboard that long let alone it be the first one in the shed I'm reaching for. Great series, keep up the awesome work.
This board looks sick. Did you go custom? I've been wanting to get one online. Chilli recommends to go custom as they don't know when the stock model will be available. Thanks for sharing it.
Hi great review, thanks, size 7'6, chilli midstrength, ci mid twin, js big baron, pyzel mid crisis, which do you prefer? Or another best ? Can chilli work well twin? Thank you in advance
Hi, I never surfed it as a twin, but preferred it as a Quad, so I reckon it could work. We don't get JS in SA, would love to test the Big Baron. My favourite is still the CI Mid, I am waiting on a Mid Twin and very excited.
@@TheRegularGuyReview Ohhhh. Right. When you say nets, you guys have nets around the beaches to keep sharks out? I remember seeing something like that for Australia. I'm in SoCal and lately there have been tons of sharks here. Like, it seems more than usual.
Hi, I am using some custom Quads by Maisch Fins in SA. They are a slightly bigger outline than standard Large fin and have a bit more rake. Similar to the Mick Fanning outline in a quad.
@@TheRegularGuyReview Cheers for your reply I’ve only had mine for 2 weeks and have tried futures legacies tri set and Machado 2+1 upright fins & the board feels really hard to turn for me with both those sets . Mines 7,2” feet I’m 100kg but been riding shortboards 35 years . I will definitely put quads in for my next surf and hopefully that will loosen it up a bit ? maybe it just me not being use to Mid,s quit yet loving how fast this board goes through soon as I get it turning easily I think I will live on this board through summer. hmmm quads hay Thanks again 👍🏽
Kai between you and Torren Martyn I'm sold on the whole mid length movement. It's just undignified for a almost ballie like myself to still be flapping around, it's time to get my cruise on. Btw way the camera work has been pretty darn tasteful too my compliments to the man behind the lens
@@jksinorbit haha they rad for the average days or when its crowded. I still like to blaze a short when its perfect and not to many people out though. The boys say thanks.
I’m 5”4 and 63kg. I presume the 6’6 would be my only option as I am so small and light ? I’ve been a 5”6 short boarder all my life but I’m not enjoying surfing as much due to my degrading fitness and generally poor waves where I surf
You could definitely go shorter, but work with them on getting your volume right. I would go at least 5-8 litres higher than your shortboard. I surf 42L shortboard and my mid 52/54L - having said that I don’t like going to short on the mid as you lose the glide factor. Hope that helps
@@TheRegularGuyReview yep makes sense , another reason is i want to smooth out my surfing and get my technique dialled in more , understand where my turns are coming from . I’m not sure they make them less than 6’6 though lol. I’ll check around to see what custom orders I can get. Thanks buddy , your videos are awesome 😎
These new Kids have very thin tails and rail lines into the tail, which makes them much easier to turn, without losing paddle power. Just plant the back foot right on the tail and boom!

I agree, loves good waves, much like the Pyzel. For me the CI is the best all-rounder. I am excited to try the CI Twin Mid.

HAHA, The rock under the assymetric tail
What was the lifeguard signaling for around the 6:20 mark?
I see you say they closed the beach. Still wonder why.
Flood water, very brown, along with the sardine run, so fearful of shark attacks and they pull the nets and close the beaches.

How’d u get that cool fade color? I don’t see it online in custom orders
It was a special spray for the show. So bleak I broke that one.
Great review Kai. Which do you prefer between the Chilli Mid Strength and the CI Mid?
Very tough call but I prob lean towards CI
@@TheRegularGuyReview What differences do you see between them?? I´m looking to buy a midlength, prob one of those
@@davidareitio3249 same! Would love to hear the difference between the ci mid and chilli mid strength. :)
@@TheRegularGuyReview why the CI?
Yeah?
How does it compare to the ci mid?
Both are great Mids. I found the Chilli a bit better on the paddle and very good on the rail. All round performance I would give to the CI.
i likes midlength but dont like thick rails.. u need to be 190lbs plus to use them.
