    ABOUT THIS VIDEO
    Finding barefoot shoes for kids is tough. They can be expensive, and if you're a new parent, you don't really know what you're looking for. The key is to find a blend of value and durability since your kids' feet are going to keep growing. I've found that having a good mix of shoes for my toddler maximizes the performance and life span of minimalist shoes. It also means I don't have to spend as much money on barefoot style kids shoes.

    For those in the UK I’d recommend looking at Conker Shoes, based in Totnes. I don’t have kids so I’ve only bought the adult styles, but they make shoes with a natural toe-box and the option of barefoot tyre soles which have super grip. There is a good choice of colours and all their children’s shoes can be resoled up a size by them. They don’t do sports shoes though.

    Thank you for this video! My 2.75yo is a full-blown walker, runner, climber, explorer and the Softstar ramblers are amazing. I would've never found these shoes if not for your video. They're exactly what I want for her. We're on the 3rd size. She'll be in these for the foreseeable future. Much appreciated!!

    My 3 year old daughter has been wearing keen sea camp ii CNX sandals. Not sure about the barefoot/minimal aspect, but they’ve been a really great all around shoe, especially as her school takes her out to climb around in forests and through creeks. They dry off really quickly, while being a good balance of flexible, lightweight and protective. They also have really good traction so I’m not worried about her slipping on wet rocks etc. Been holding up great for about a year, plus you can just throw them in the washing machine :)

    We are on our second pair of Vivobarefoot Primus Toddlers, they seem to work great for almost anything. For rainy weather or garden, we've been using "gigididi" rain boots from Amazon. They seem to have a wide, anatomical, nontapered toe box and zero drop. Not as flexible as I would like, but they do flex. We also bought the Unshoes Keota for summer sandals but she doesn't want to put them on yet. :D

    I have three kids and I've kept them all in Softstar mostly but recently branched out to Xero for my older sons who are now teenagers because they look more "normal" and they don't want to draw too much attention to themselves. My toddler and I wear only Soft Stars. Even my skeptical husband has noticed how strong and agile our little one's movements are in them.

    I've tried to find "mainstream" shoes that work as barefoot style shoes for my sons because they tend to be a lot cheaper. Ive recently found saguaro. They're watershoes on amazon that are wide and thin and only like $30 but my kids use them as running shoes too. They're super flexible, have a good tread and they have an elastic lace that they don't need to tie. They've got them from toddler size all the way up to adult aswell so its easy to get more when they grow out of them. Definitely made in China though.

    😂 My kid has also worn away his shoes using them as brakes while riding his scooter! Not good when they are expensive. We’ve used lots of brands of kids minimalist shoes: Softstar, Splay, Wildling, Feelgrounds, Xero sandals. It can be a challenge to keep 3 kids in barefoot shoes!

    My kids are mostly barefoot when the ground isn’t cold. I keep flip flops in the vehicle for them to go in stores or on hot pavement. Figuring out a solution for school coming up because they need all the shoes. Thanks for the video.

    • @billyfowler9423

      That's the problem with keeping kids barefoot all the time is there will come a time when they need shoes and socks and they will not be used to them. Flip flops are bad for kids feet, closed toe shoes and socks should be the norm once they are walking.

      Be careful with that. A lot of kids never get used to shoes and socks because they go barefoot and wear sandals all the time. Kids need proper shoes with socks as they get older, gotta start young getting them accustomed to wearing them.

    I'm surprised no one is mentioning Xero shoes? My son and I both wear Xero Prios. Maybe not the best looking, and they're pricey for what they are. But they are legit minimalist, super comfortable, and bulletproof. I would highly recommend checking them out.

    I let my 17 month old go barefoot as much as possible. If we go out, he just wears a fleece slipper booties coz it is winter now. But now that he is walking more and more, we invested on a Robeez early walking shoes. It has really flexible soles and non slip soles too. It is expensive but so worth it. 😊

    • @billybassman21
      @billybassman21 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The problem with that is when he gets older he isn't going to be used to shoes and socks and will default to sandals and bare feet. I let my son go barefoot sometimes, but tried to make shoes and socks the norm at other times just so he wouldn't mind them as he got older. He now wears sneakers and socks all day till the night, would sleep in them if I let him!

    • @crystalgale15
      @crystalgale15 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@billybassman21 my son is now 2 years and 4 months old and we never had any issue of him not wanting to wear socks or shoes. He doesn't mind wearing shoes at all as long as the sole of the shoes is not too stiff (unbendable soles are a no no for early walkers anyway so this is not an issue for us). He even likes his winter boots (Jan and Jul makes flexible sole winter boots). So I think it will really depend on the kid. Everyone is different. Do what you think is best for your kid. 😊

    My 16mo isn't walking yet, so shoes are rather pointless. When she's a confident walker, then I'm going to the fancy kid shoe store and buying whatever pair of zero-drop, soft shoes with a wide toe box that the salesperson recommends. She'll be barefoot as much as possible.

    My son doesn't wear Crocs, slides, sandals, flip flops, slippers or shoes without socks. Always shoes and socks even in the summer. He wore Stride Rites and now mainly high top sneakers. I made shoes a daily routine for him early on so it would be normal and he wouldn't mind wearing them. He wears them all day and they come off in the evening. He goes barefoot sometimes in a safe environment, but shoes are the norm. Not a fan of minimalist shoes, millions of kids wear sneakers and do fine. I think we focus too hard these days on trying to reinvent the wheel. Past generations did fine wearing Nike's though some do restrict the development of kids feet. Kids need the wider toe when they are toddlers. The problem with bare feet and sandals is they never really get used to wearing real shoes and it will be a struggle throughout their life. I know because I was that kid.

    • @Uprighthealth
      @Uprighthealth  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not to make too obvious a point here, but Nikes and today's conventional sneakers are very new to the human body. Thousands of generations of humans lived WITHOUT thick soled sneakers. Was there a reason to reinvent the wheel there? Wearing narrow shoes deforms your feet. That leads to movement issues.
      If someone starts selling gloves to protect your hands that deform your fingers and hands, would it make sense to keep using them just because everyone else is using them???
