Instead of refreshing the remnant, wouldn’t it be better to just restart the game and get a better chance, so that you don’t spend any souls? It doesn’t cost anything to exit the game, even if I refresh on the remnant.
the file I'm running on has a significant amount of soul essence stacked up and I reset the file every run for various reasons which also includes keeping the essence count high

It doesn’t cost anything to exit the game, even if I refresh on the remnant.
we reset the file after each run so soul essence isnt a problem, its just faster to refresh

for essence either play spiritual assault or just do runs of the highest difficulty you can consistently complete
