I'm becoming a fan of your channel bery quickly.
Thank you for all you do.
2:40 It took my a few tries to do this simple thing.
I kept naturally making a full fist when trying to curl only the fingers and without a fretboard to rest my fingers on, I could barely space them out in that curled position.
It was an actual hand workout doing this.
Maybe I should stop hitting the heavy bag at the gym.

I also just bought a Gibsons Les Paul junior Talent guitar and it has a narrow neck so when I press down on a string the string below it hits my finger, I had to use my index finger holding it straight up and down in order to tune my guitar I'm not using a digital tuner I star out with a pitch pipe and tune my low E string then I do the rest with just my finger.

My pinky wont stretch far enough to the 8th fret… I have a crooked pinky but it’s always been that way.

What do you do if you have such short fingers that you can't get to the top string without bending the wrist because there's no space underneath the neck?

Hi. Go to 8:51 in the video. Thanks for watching!

Oh I somehow missed that on the first view. Ok so even if it's less easy to apply pressure with fingers that are less curled, that's OK?

@@artax9683 There is nothing wrong with a slight bend in the wrist. When playing a scale it's okay to straighten the fingers since you are only playing one note at a time. If this is uncomfortable then it could mean the guitar is to big. Perhaps a 3/4 sized instrument? Go to your local music shop an try one out.

Dolly Pardon played guitar and she has long finger nails, so does Charo she too has long finger nails. How in the heck do they manage that? My finger nails are short and when I push down on the strings I can feel my finger nails hitting the guitar neck, I also don't have callous because I haven't played guitar in over fifty years, I am 70 now I also have poor circulation so when I push down on the tips of my fingers they just go flat and don't bounce back into shape very fast.

Sometime style trumps substance. Charo is a freak on the guitar, that being said.... she would benefit from losing the nails.

Ya so I can't play any chords well except a few like D,Dm,G.
