Bintaro has 9 sectors, sectors 1 and 2 of this city are located at Ciputat of South Jakarta, and sectors 3-9 are located at Pondok Aren of South Tangerang. it is about one hour's driving from central Jakarta to arrive in Bintaro.

The name Bintaro is derived from the Bintaro Village, which also takes the name of the Bintaro plant, whereas Jaya came from the name of the developer.
