It’s always surreal to see people you follow being local and going to the same events you do 😂
I wish we had those in the Czech Republic. The only way to experience anything even remotely similar to ren faire is to find a castle/city that is celebrating like 800 years since its foundation or the first written mention and hope they splurged on the historical entertainment. Fortunatelly this century is quite filled with these big anniversaries, and I had the luck to once see a 13th century royal procession almost half a mile long making a circle around the historical city center. It was magical and absolutely unforgetteble.
You can check similar thing in Poland (it's kinda close :) ) - Anniversary of Grunwald battle, Festival of Vikings and Slavs in Wolin, some smaller parties in Cracov. They are varied in time periods :)
But it's so cool that you have actual castles!
@@LadyRebeccaFashions Yeah, my friend had a pagan wedding in a castle ruin, they could even sleep there in tents. They had the whole place for themseves for a whole weekend and no one bothered them there. (And no, he didn't have to sell his kidney to pay for it). It is cool to live in a country where you can basically throw a stone from a castle wall and hit another castle. Or just walk in a forrest and literally trip over one. :D
I've been to events in Czech and Slovakia and Germany. You need to dig into the castles that have tours. Many times in a year there are events held that they invite the acting troups and organizations like the SCA to come and add color. So the event coordinators can put in touch with those groups

I am so happy that my local (Maryland) Renn Faire is mostly in the woods! I am so hoping to get there this year.
Yes, the Santa Fe Ren Faire is in a very wooded location and even though temps are still toasty in September here in New Mexico, it is quite tolerable.
You can always tell when people have been to the Faire. Renn Faire sunburn lines-the struggle is real! You looked great!

I was at the faire that weekend as well! We camp though. Day tripping is fun, but its so nice to not have to stand in the entry line, have a place to cool off or change, and a place with food! There were so many rapunzel costumes the whole weekend. My best friend wore my rapunzel faire disney bound as well! It's a fun little event.
I'm just gonna keep living vicariously through you. Because I MISS REN FAIRE!!!

It's nice to know that Broon is still around! The last time I saw him was many, many years ago at Bristol Ren Faire in Wisconsin. He had taken a fairly bad fall from a fairly tall height, and no one was sure how well he would recover. I'm *so happy* that he recovered and is back entertaining the people!
He's been doing this faire for years. He has such a fun show!
If you EVER get the chance, you should attend Kansas City Ren Fest. It is in a wooded green area. It has a permanent home in Bonner Springs Kansas, lasts for like 7 wonderful themed weekends, has tons of amazing shows and musical acts. It runs from Labor Day weekend to the middle of October.

I've been working for the California Renaissance Faires since the 90s! I was actually thinking of relocating to Washington but there is the only one Fair up there 😞

So much fun! We saw Sirena at one of the Florida Renfaires in February. One lady couldn’t decide which of their CDs she wanted so her husband bought all of them. So they may actually be real sirens, lmao.
We use to have a Faire in Tum Tum Washington just NW of Spokane... haven't seen it the last 3 years... hoping it will come back soon... we usually have a few others on a smaller scale too in the summer...

I recommend you check out the Bristol Renfaire if you have the chance to travel for it, it's worth it

Every time someone from the PNW complains of the heat, I laugh in Mid-Atlantic State. When the temperature drops to 82 here, we turn off the AC and open windows.
Umbrella/parasol is a necessity!
Haha, when we had a medieval festival here, it was always the hottest weekend of July and we'd be out in full plate armour chasing each other around with swords and trying not to get heatstroke, cause under my 65 lb of steel, I'm also effectively wearing a winter coat...... It really is fun to get people who want to take pictures with you though.
I'm actually quite sad I didn't get to attend the faire this year, the one here in Colorado is a Big Deal, but it's so much fun to live vicariously and see you have fun!

I really hope that they are able to accommodate the crowds and lines in the coming years. Wasn't able to make it this year but I did hear all about the crowd. Growing pains are tricky, but these events are so much fun and I'm glad so many people were able to enjoy it despite the crowd. Looking forward to next year!

Yeah, I heard the day before we went was a total mess.
The third weekend was MUCH improved, and other area events did not create such traffic chaos thankfully.

There's actually a small local ren fair in Kennewick, Wa where my parents live! I've been only once before in 2018 because I had just found out about it right before I moved for college but it was pretty fun.
When is that one?
Our local Renaissance is in May and about 2 miles from my home.
What a smart idea to pin the hair to the bodice! My granddaughter and I made a rapunzel cosplay about 6 years ago when she was 16. I took the opportunity to teach her how to sew. It was for Yukomicon up in Whitehorse in the Yukon. The hair was a problem but it was solved by a bunch of little girls who helped carry the hair. They were enchanted by the opportunity to be part of the cosplay.
I hope you enjoyed the second weekend of faire... I was there the first weekend of faire at vendors camping gate.... I work for pickles! I hope to see you there next year.

It's hard to go to one when it's that hot even with plenty of shade! The one in my area runs September to mid October, and there are plenty of trees. I got too hot last year because I didn't bring enough water and we didn't want to wait in line on the way out. I bought bodice chillers since then to see if that might help. They only lasted about 15 minutes for me when I'd go walking in the sun this summer. I'm taking extra water this year for sure.

Looked fun and hot. I have only been to a fair once at Lake Tahoe 🙃. A hot day in summer ☀️. I went in shorts and a tank top and had puritans harassing me for being in my under garments. 🤣🤣. Good fun.
If you get to the east coast please come to the NYS Renaissance faire in Tuxedo, NY. It is my home faire and I’ve gone most years since high school. Lots of shade and permanent buildings. Don’t forget to buy an ice cold pickle! 😆 the pickle vendors are hysterical.
I haven't been to that one, but my favorite faire is Sterling in upstate NY. I love all the permanent buildings and that it's all in the trees!
@@LadyRebeccaFashions I hope to go to Sterling next year. Tuxedo also has lots of shade and because it is later in the summer/fall it isn’t usually too hot. I’m putting together my autumn fairy costume and plan to go my birthday weekend at the end of September.

I hope you had fun at the Renn Faire! One of my favorite vendors is there...Redwolf. Love the pins he sells. One of my favorites, if you can find it in the jumble, is Semper Gumby. Always Flexible -- the motto of any event manager/team.

So, you needed Shade Potion, which fortunately is available to muggles. Look for Bullfrog SPF 85 Waterproof. Here it’s in drugstores. But this is the subtropics and 82 F is a cool lovely day. Skiers use it too.
When I was training on the bike in 90 F + temps it was like bringing a big tree along. Sunscreen will keep you cooler.
Don't worry, I was wearing spf 100!
Too bad it was so hot and sunny. Crazy thing, here in Texas, we have at least three Ren Faires, and they are all in the trees. Totally backwards that yours is in an open field :).
I know! The thought of all that sun just bearing straight down...There's a reason Scarborough's last weekend is Memorial day. Waxahatchie in August is something even the natives don't want to see.
Yeah, I definitely don't remember it being this hot when I've been to see Scarborough! Though both times I was there, a tornado came through the area that night.😳
As always, you are beautiful! So, how hot was it? The last time i got to a Ren Faire, was some years ago, when I lived in Phoenix. It was the last weekend in February. It was also a warm(ish) day - 102, with not a tree in sight. I'd go again in a heartbeat! Thanks for taking us along! 💕

Looks like a very different experience from the Bristol Ren Faire (my only Ren Faire experience, being a foreigner from across the sea) which I made myself a new Elizabethan suit for - not realizing until I saw the pictures that the colour choice made me look like a raw-sausage in a silly hat, and the style really did no favours to my plus sized shape... ah, the costuming mistakes we only realize later!

@@kimberly2310 I do - and it was exactly ten years ago I was there (I saved up my leve from work to take a six week trip to the US to avoid the disruption of the Olympics being here in London in 2012)

Thanks! And yeah, anything over 80 is relatively hot, though this summer, although we haven't had a ton of incredibly hot days (over 90), almost every day has been over 80, which is unusual. I'm so ready for fall!
So jealous! My bro and I were on the way (2nd weekend), traffic going there was so crazy, hot weather, 3 little kids with us… almost half day was gone sitting in the car so just had to call it a day. On a normal day, it would’ve taken less then 20 minutes to get to there.

I loved everything about your costume, except one thing. Why didn't you make your hair longer?
There's only so much you can do when it's attached to the wig itself. At Disney, for example, her braid is actually a separate piece that comes from the shoulder area, and is attached to her costume, with a short wig that rests on top of it.

I loved this! (I'll admit, once you started showing the footage of the faire itself I panicked after suddenly realizing I might spot Chris, my ex who had emotionally manipulated me for months. I had to stop and carefully scrub the video real quick but once I saw that he didn't pop up, I was good to go back and watch properly. 😅) I always feel SO BAD for my WA friends having a Renaissance Faire in a field with no shade in *August* but despite that heat, everything I see of this faire every year makes it seem like such a great one! Thanks for sharing some of it with all of us! 😊
