We're visiting the area for the 1st time this fall 2024 from Ontario, Canada. We have great respect for all those protecting this amazing natural wonder.
Thankyou so much for this upload!! This video has inspired me a lot! Growing up in Lake County as a child I barley knew how special central Florida was. I visited the springs mentioned in this video in Seminole forest and unfortunately the staff there are trying to gate keep the springs. A state forest employee I met at sulphur run said they don’t want visitors here and think too many people already know about it. I’m happy for positive education like yours that help future generations enjoy gods gifts. Thankyou again for the info!!
I fear the development and sprawl will outpace the springs and we will lose them completely. I wish Florida would reel in its development and dense it up more.
Love the springs. I also fear FL isn’t doing enough to protect them. They’re selling out to big money. Ironically, the big money doesn’t bring in any more money than tourism to springs does but, its alot easier for big money to donate to politicians.
How is what you are saying true? Most springs now have been taken over and protected by the Florida State Parks network and are not for sale to any big company. I know of only one spring that was privately owned and sold to the Nestle Company for bottled water. That fight went on for years but has not been an issue with other springs.
@@beboboymann3823 There are plenty of springs which are not part of the Park system and are not on privately owned land, I know of three specifically on the North edge of Lake Monroe, which need to be protected by government entities but are not….random pvc pipes running up to a private business and Yes the water management agency was contacted….zero cares
What about all the springs through out Florida that were clogged up by land development, Road Construction, Railroad. When heavy equipment is used near a spring the ground shakes causing rocks and other obstacles to fall ito the springs clogs it and stops it from pumping water. Hudson Spring was a big spring that stopped after major development was done near by including major land reclaiming that now has 100's of water front homes built on land that was not there 15 years ago.No one will take responsibility for doing construction work near by a spring and then suddenly the spring stops. They say oh the spring dried up bull Shit. Gravel or fill dirt makes it into the spring because of negligence from the Contractor or Subcontractor.
The Ocala National Forest springs are being operated by a private management company. They used to charge $2 per vehicle, now its $13 per person. A 2,500% increase for a family of 4. Totally unacceptable. These are National Forest public lands, not a profit generator for a private company. We need the springs to be more accessible not less. Ive not been able to visit the beautiful restorative Ocala springs because on principal i will not pay $13 to a private company to access my National Forest public treasure. Its a sacred place. My brother died so i moved up to heal and restore my spirit at the springs, but i cannot access them now so my spirit is struggling big time.
When I see claims of Silver Springs turning into a "Mud Hole" in 15 years, I cringe. Why not just say they need continued protection vs the sky is falling route? As a 4th Gen Floridian born in N Central Fl, I've been many times, do not care for the grandstanding.
When this film was made Silver Springs was falling from 900 cubic feet per second to 250 cubic feet per second, the doc say “ if current conditions continue.” Just facts.
Romans 1:22 Context 19Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. 24Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

I have scuba at many Florida springs. A wonderful experience in one of the best places on the planet.

I’m feeling for you and all the locals in your same position. Greed is upon us at all levels.
This reminds me of the Eyewitness Science Videos.
The springs don’t look like this anymore , they are loosing flow rate and becoming stagnate
Governor DeSantis is no better than Rick Scott. Florida’s springs, the Keys, the Everglades are declining fast.
