Doni Harvey's bass playing on this song makes me do a happy dance...

I worked at a record store when this album was released. Most customers didn't buy it because they didn't understand it. We returned several unsold copies to our distributer. I scooped a copy up though! I was impressed echos of Jimi Hendrix fused together with Todd Cochran's (Bayete) futuristic approach. When "My Pearl" made the Hits List the album received some attention but didn't really catch on. I believe this is an important album that still influences many musicians, like Prince for one.

This was my dad’s account before he passed. We made this video (me and my boyfriend at the time) in our early twenties. My dad was adamant about making this song available and so stoked we got it on TH-cam. And now it has 29K views he would be so excited. Passed on 3 years ago on Dec 6. Love you dad ❤

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!! I NEVER THOUGHT THAT I WOULD HEAR THIS BAND AGAIN!!! This is a totally rare group and just on a whim i typed it in and i never thought it would pop up. I've looked all over the place to find Automatic Man these days and can't find it anywhere. You are a true collector of fine music my friend. When this album first came out i bought it just because i liked the cover and was astounded at how far ahead of it's time it was. It was a hit at many of my parties!

Bought the original vinyl when it was released. Start to finish - incredible. Years ahead of their time. Had this and 20 other vintage vinyl stolen from a storage unit 30 years ago. Still pissed.

Such a shame that both their albums are only available on "from vinyl" CDs. They deserve to out in remastered form!

One of my absolute favorites of the band--damn, the riff is so wicked that Pat plays! Love it! Plus the potent space/funk groove that Shrieve and Harvey lay down under it just kills! Superb keys by Bayete too---What a band!
