Masterful coverage as usual. The explanations are always lucid, enlightening, and entertaining. Daniel has a gift for explaining often complex ideas so concisely, and clearly. In particular the explanation of the deadly Keymer light squared bishop (which crippled Pragg in this game) And the wonderful treatment of the Zugwang position at the end. Always a treat to view. Thank you.

A masterful lesson of bishop and queen end game! It is so difficult to play precisely in this position and Keymer has played a wonderful game!

Thjat was a beautiful game and played under extreme time pressure at the end where they were playing on increment.

Thank you for covering the best tournament of the year, excellently, as always!
Wijk aan Zee is consistently so enjoyable :D

Today, both young Indians made very basic mistakes in the opening. Even teenagers can succumb to the grinding pressure of the Tata Steel format.

Thank goodness. MC, IN, and FC have bored/exhausted everyone… chess needed an “out w the old, in w the new!” 🙏

I just realized that maybe the young generation won but... In fact they were in big majority in Wijk aan Zee. So the result in not *that* of a surprise. Beside Caruana and Giri they were all pretty young.
Glad to see the nation policy over chess has such incredible results . Congratulations to them

I fully expected you to show us the result on screen, after you said 'look away'. Maybe I'm taking things to literally 😅

It's an old expression on UK TV and I was just having some fun. I am very sorry if it spoiled it for you but you should have been faster to hit pause - I gave you warning!

I'm reminded of the last round of Candidates 2013 where Carlsen and Kramnik went in with uncontestable shared first at 8½ points... and both lost, to Svidler and Ivanchuk respectively

It is often unpleasant when your f pawn is targeted by a bishop and heavy pieces have broken through to the seventh

Classical chess is dead! It's so boring! Nothing but dull draws! The same old guys playing each other! Chess will never be like football if they don't start playing bughouse with their shirts off! Aaaaugh!
    Yeah.
They've been saying that for decades, probably centuries. (Maybe not the topless bughouse part.) So far they've been wrong every time.
    What a great tournament.
    ♟️♟️🎸. Chess rocks.
