Editorial is related to the acquittal of 121 tribals who were arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act by a National Investigation Agency (NIA) court.
In my opinion:- In the year 2017, a very unfortunate incident took place at Sukma in Chhattisgarh in which 25 Central Reserve Police Force Jawans were killed in an ambush attack which was planned by the Naxalite/Maoist groups. After the attack, when the ruling government realized that the incident was happened due to its own failure, it gave direction to the security forces to arrest the tribals those who live near the sphere of the incident. After that, 121 tribals were arrested with the help of security agencies, alleging that they were involved in the killing of jawans. Now, a National Investigation Agency (NIA) court has acquitted all of them, saying they were not involved in executing the incident. The tribals were booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act which has rigorous provisions and now the court has considered that tribals have little connection with Maoists. In this article, writer suggests if the government wants to defeat the Maoists, it must ensure that tribals should not be harassed. If the government bothers tribals, Maoists will be benefited and tribals will also consider them as their well-wisher. Maoists can be ended, if the government supports to the tribals and ensures availability of all the basic amenities in their spheres. At present there are many parts in the country that have been still struggling to control the Maoists’s dominance but due to political issues, they are unable to control it. Generally, security forces are made scapegoat and when the incident happens, the ruling government condemns and gives assurance for concluding the dominance of the Maoists but everything remains in same condition.
