I would argue that C++ would make a great first language bc if you can rewire your brain to think like a computer and be very analytical and have high attention to detail it will make learning other languages a breeze not to mention greatly improve your debugging skills thus making you a much better programmer. Even learning Assembly as a first language wouldnt hurt either. You will gain a much better appreciation of how languages evolve but more important how using a specific language will greatly depend on the use case. For low level programming like game engines, IoT/embedded systems, drivers, launching space rovers, Blockchain core, etc you will use Assembly/C/C++. For higher level coding where performance is not as critical you can use C#/Python/Go/JS, etc.
Learning Python as your first language is a terrible mistake many newbies make which is why many give up on programming. You have to start with the more complex to be able to fully understand whats under the hood so that you can then derive solutions to many problems. Not knowing how to debug at the Assembly level puts you at a great disadvantage

The reason why I think this is flawed is because this can be said about literally anything. “If you learn this advanced or more difficult thing first, you’ll find the less advanced things in the same category to be easier”.
Sure, but there is a reason why people don’t do or recommend that. If you start straight from the more difficult stuff, you’re more likely to end up frustrated or give up. Incremental growth in anything in life is more beneficial.

I have a hell of a time just getting my IDE to work half the time, or figuring out how to take the code and make it into something other than just a console app stuck in an editor haha

Its a good thing to start learning after moving on from Python if you just find it too boring or not very useful. You dont really have to learn about things like frameworks straight away like with C#, you can go straight into programming C++, but you do need to first learn that it is a compiled language, not interpreted. Syntax and such is really not a difficult thing to learn for me.
Plus, once youve learned it, thats a career right there. C++ is literally fantastic for everything, use it everywhere. Programmes written in C++ run really, really fast, but its not as difficult as straight up programming with C. Honestly, with some use cases you might even find it easier than Python, which becomes really difficult to use if you try to push it too much. You might appreciate the increased control you have too.

i will be kind, so will warn anyone that has planned to learn c++: if you're not willing to spend at least a couple of yrs on it, becoming more difficult every month as u will delve into pretty advanced low level concepts you better not start learning c++ at all, it is nothing compared to python, you will encounter concepts that requires you to go learning other concepts which in turn will require you to go learn OTHER concepts and so on, so keep in mind, either you willing to spend days and night for a couple of yrs on c++ either u don't start learning it, otherwise you will end up just like the 90% of other c++ beginners that tried to learn it a aborted at the beginning even tho they thought they were almost mastering it, if you think you learned c++ in a couple of months or even a year, then you didn't learn it as you think...

Probably is the best as a first starting point for a programming language, includes C and also Object Oriented Programming. Yeah you could say it's more in depth, more specific, which will help you understand how programs/computers run. Nobody says that you must be an expert of C++, if you understand it enough, but still don't like it, than the passing to a language like python, java is gonna be a bit easier. And also the idea behind a language like python is that your focusing more on the actual functionality that you are creating and not so much for the rest of the things, which is great, that's how it should be, different things for different creations. I hope makes sense :)))

Start with C++. It will be easier to shift to HTML/PYTHON/JAVA anything.
Its a-bit-difficult syntax would make you scratch your brain but once you start with something tough it will be surely helpful for you later.
C/C++ plays at the memory level easily as it is a Mid-level Language nearer to memory management. You get to know the internal working of data structures.
It's a terrible mistake to start with python and then shifting to java/c++ (if required). Other than that, if you wish to continue with python only, it's great.
It's a myth that C++ can't be used for development. People who say so are just afraid of the language's syntax.

C++ not as hard as people think or imagine i think is a good starter language because once you learn it other programing language will be easier to master i would recommend to people chose C++ as their first language i started woth python but once I started uisng and learning C++ found it more fun.

i think people should start with c++ or c instead Of Python And js that is built in c & c++, we dont need a market full of mouse devs a programmer needs to know how to think and these 2 languages are a must, it is difficult i know but a person who learned python in 3 month and someone who plays with pointers in c or c++ is totally diff thing

As I have a Arduino project in the work I have no choice but to learn C++. C++ is actually pretty simple at least in my view but I only understand a few basic structures and you do need a really good memory which I don't have. One problem I am facing that is finding a good way to learn how to make C++ code and I only have a computer a smartphone and three Arduino boards so I got all that I need to practice and work with it, but finding ways to learn how to do it surprisingly difficult and it's very much unlike Python where you could just find anything anywhere anytime and so far I haven't seen much of that from C++ so if anyone can help set me a direction that would be very nice!

A large reason c/c++ is so good is because it is memory efficient - no need to worry about that. Pretty sure arduinos website has pages upon pages about c/c++

    • @timothydebord892

Btw, c++ is mainly manual memory management except for smart pointers, so it’s only as efficient as you can make it to be

I’ve worked at several tech and HF companies including Netflix, Palantir and Citadel.
When you say C++ for websites, I’ll assume you meant using C++ for the backend, but the fact is 95% of the tech companies don’t use C++ for their backend as there isn’t any really good backend framework. Instead, most of them opt to use Java. Citadel uses lots of C++ for its speed performance, but still no backend is written using C++.
You might be influential, but do your research before creating video like this. Stop spreading misinformation.
