For some reason the water gets locked in the espresso chamber and does not pull the shot very well. Any tips? I just use ground espresso from starbucks?
Hello Alicia, Thank you for your support to Gevi. We will try our best to solve any problems you encounter. Reasons why water remains on the filter after making coffee: 1. The coffee powder is too fine 2. The coffee powder is pressed too tightly 3. Too little coffee powder 4. The small holes of the filter are blocked, and need to be cleaned. The specific operation method is to first soak the filter in the descaling agent for a day, then use a brush to clean the holes of the filter, and finally wash it with clean water. Please check if the above reasons are causing your problem. Hope the above can help you. If not, please contact us via our official email: gevi-home@gevi-home. Hello Victoria Vredevoogd, Thank you for ordering Gevi products. We will try our best to solve any product problems you encounter. From the information provided so far, as we don't know your real situation, but as there are 7 main factors that can affect the taste of your espresso,so you can troubleshoot and resolve by following the instructions: 1. Roast Degree of Coffee Beans For making espresso, medium- or dark-roasted coffee beans are well-suited. If you use light-roasted coffee beans, the final coffee will be lighter in both its color and flavor. 2. Grind Size To make good espresso, a fine grind is a must. Coarse coffee grinds can make the extraction too fast and lead to an under-extraction. But also note don’t use too fine grinds to avoid water blockage that causes overflow from the portafilter 3. Grind Dose Add a proper amount of coffee grinds to the portafilter, the dose of the double cup is around 14 grams but does not over the MAX line. 4. Tamping Force Tamp the coffee grinds firmly with pressure around 10-15kg but not too hard to avoid water blockage or overflow from the portafilter. After tamping, make sure to wipe away any excess coffee grinds on the edges of the portafilter before installing it on the machine. 5. Water Temperature Before brewing, make sure the knob is in the """"START/STOP"""" position and the temperature is suitable, at this point, the espresso function indicator illuminates green, and the MILK FROTHING button is not being pressed down. The espresso function indicator is the only correct indicator for brewing coffee, and the thermometer gauge is only for reference. Take note of the below 2 cases of misoperation: CASE 1- Low Temperature The machine is just turned on and in the process of pre-heating, so it has not reached a suitable temperature for brewing coffee. Before brewing coffee, make sure the pre-heating process has finished, at this moment, the espresso function indicator illuminates green. CASE 2- High Temperature The suitable temperature for brewing coffee is around 92 degrees Celsius(198 degrees Fahrenheit). If you accidentally press the MILK FROTHING button or immediately brew coffee after steaming, the temperature will be too high, and it is not suitable for brewing coffee. What to do? If the MILK FROTHING button is being pressed down, reset the MILK FROTHING button to its initial state and wait until the temperature is cool down to an appropriate temperature for coffee, at this point, the espresso function indicator is on then press the BREWING ESPRESSO button for brewing. Here 2 ways for cooling down the machine: 1-Wait for the machine to lower down to a suitable temperature, but this will take some time. 2-Press the BREWING ESPRESSO Button to pump the hot water into the boiler, which will help to cool down the machine. Wait until the steam function indicator is extinguished and the espresso function indicator is green on. Now, the machine is ready for brewing coffee. If the machine just finished steaming, do not brew coffee immediately. Make sure the MILK FROTHING button to its initial state, you can follow the above for cooling down the machine till to the suitable temperature and then brew coffee, otherwise, the machine will release high-temperature water from the group head and cause the coffee to burn. 6. Cups If for 2 shots with 1 cup, it is recommended that the capacity of the cup is about 100ML. While for 2 shots with 2 cups or 1 shot with 1 cup, it is recommended that each cup is about 50ML. The cups without pre-heating or too large will make the temperature of the espresso drop quickly, resulting in a poor flavor. 7. Shot Volume Around 40mL per cup is recommended. For you to better understand the above, we have made videos for you to show how to make good espresso, please view the videos via the links below. What is the actual difference in taste between a 15 bar machine and a 20 bar machine?
Hello Bruno Santos,
The difference between 15 bar and 20 bar is that the pressure of extracting coffee is different. The higher the pressure, the faster the coffee can be extracted. But it's not that the more stressed the coffee machine makes, the better the coffee. Generally speaking, it takes the right pressure to extract the stronger coffee. How to match the pressure is related to the following six elements.
In fact there are 6 main factors that can affect the taste of your espresso:
1-Roast Degree of Coffee Beans
For making espresso, medium- or dark-roasted coffee beans are well-suited. If you use light-roasted coffee beans, the final coffee will be lighter in color and flavor.

3-Grind Dose
Add a proper amount of coffee grinds to the portafilter, the dose of the single cup is around 7 grams, and the double cup is about 14 grams but not past the MAX line.
4-Tamping Force
Tamp the coffee grinds firmly with pressure around 12.5-30kg but not too hard to avoid water blockage that causes overflow from the portafilter. After tamping makes sure to wipe away any excess coffee grinds on the edges of the portafilter before installing it on the machine.
5-Water Temperature
Before brewing, make sure that the pre-heating process finishes.
6-Shot Volume
Around 40mL per cup is recommended.
These six factors will affect the taste of coffee, so if you want to make good coffee, please follow the above six factors. So you can have a good cup of coffee.

Hello there,
Thank you for your comment.
Do you mean you contacted our after-sales service team and haven't gotten the refund as they promised, right? If so, could you please leave us your email address, and we'll check what happened and help you out? Tks.
