The OR sounds like such an amazing place to be! Sadly I didn't get offered the position...me never being in an OR before probably didn't help & I know they did at least 3 days of interviews so I'm sure it was competitive :/
@@KiaraMadisen dont give up! OR nurses. are in short supply and hard to find! look for a peri op 101 program. i promise the hard work is worth it! maybe try a PACU or PRE OP spot to get your foot in the door!
@@KiaraMadisen it is tough to know the role too if you have never been in the or. i applied never having been in either but hen i saw a c-section in L and D rotation i knew i wanted to be in the OR! make sure you have a time you were a patient advocate example, a time you were pressured to not follow policy but made sure you did anyway, a time you made a mistake...questions i have been asked in every or interview. please dont give up i think you have a great personality for the OR!

@@KiaraMadisen they do! part of my interview for my peri op 101 program was shadowing for a case to see if we liked it! reach out to an OR educator or perioperative educator. even if you pick a different speciality to start out in, the unit educator you end up with can help coordinate. as circulators we have so few minutes before bring the patient back we have to give a good impression and make them feel safe in a short time. i advocated for a patient by asking to position them while awake before their surgery because they had hip problems that the surgeon didnt know about. it doesn't even have to be OR related...but knowing what a circulator does is very important because it ISNT bedside. its entirely different. its reading surgeon preference cards, checking equipment, making sure the room has what it needs and that it is safe to bring the patient back. are the implants in the room? assisting anesthesia with intubation, collecting surgical specimens properly, prepping skin for surgery and watching the sterile field to see if there are contaminations. you need to be able to speak up and do the right thing for the patient, even if nobody else saw a contamination. we are the final safety check. its very scary starting out because it is all new but it is so much fun! nowhere else can you jam out to a playlist and watch surgery happen! you can scrub in and touch a brain or a heart, run your hands along bowel. so. fun! you get to be in the secret part of the hospital that everyone else wants to be in but isnt sure how! ;)
My favorite gifted items this year was a tie between the art I got framed for my partner, and the membership I gifted my mum to the Portland Japanese Garden! I focused on gifts that add joy to their lives!
The best present that I got this year is like a 4-way tie between my new blankie, my slippers, my ice cream Squishmallow, and the book Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer, which I really wanted! I was so excited about my Squish because I thought for sure my parents would say I was too old for stuffies, but my mom got me one and I was so happy!
My dad surprised me with Ray-Ban sunglasses years ago and I have cherished and cared for them ever since (as someone who also runs on $10 sunglasses)! My best friend has always wanted a typewriter and even the most run down antique was out of budget so I ended up finding on that my office was about to throw away and the amount of joy it brought her made my whole Christmas. Here's to 2023!

I'd suggest you use a hair tie before the claw clip. I've heard way too many stories of nurses doing CPR and having the claw clip fall out, so their hair then dangles all over the patient and through any fluids that may be present.

Also, that darn hermit (lol, I’m kidding) Keegan comes up with some good content that just leads me away and astray Kierra haha! Those Tony’s bars are so good. I buy them at New Seasons. I didn't realise that I've seen so many of these vids - I knew a tech gift would be coming from Aunt and Uncle, buddy gifts would be spot on (especially Ms. Mack lol), papa Doug with cute yet practical gift collection (shout out to dads fr) and your mum with the clothes haul is always impressive. The Hawaii ninja trick is hilarious! 😂My lil brother finally moved out on his own, without flatmates and I got him an Always Pan, it's kind of tradition as I got one from my older brother when I bought my place. He sends pics of his meals on the fam group, I'm so proud!!! Also, side note: Wooosahhh on the job hunt queen, it's so competitive out there 💜😭, I'm doing my master's and finally got a paid psychology research assistant (ClinPsych is the long-term goal and this will support my PhD app!) It took easily 6 months of sweat and tears to find this perfect one. Yours is out there 🤞🏾and it's going to be ✨*BEAUT*✨

I have an AirPods case from baggu! It’s made out of recycled materials and I can clip in to my keys or jeans, but also take the AirPod case out easily if I need to charge it. I love it. Merry Christmas Kiara!! My best gift I think was the blanket I crocheted for my dad. I was working on it since October so it was a labor of love for sure.

I actually really like casetify airpods case. I got one of the sustainable compostable cases and customized with my initials.
DOUG! DOUG! DOUG! My dad would smack me if I called him by his first name. Hahah. In some cultures or families, it's disrespectful if a child refer their parent's by their first name. Maybe that doesn't apply in your family. Do you call your mom by her first name? Even though I don't like my mom because how she raised me, I still call her mom out of respect. The only time I called my dad by his first name was when I introduced him to my boyfriend.
