I've got a video coming up where I do a lot of compares between the Osmo Pocket 3, and an Osmo Mobile 6 + iphone. One thing I noticed but didn't remark on was that the Osmo Mobile 6 was much smoother with active track than the pocket 3. Pan Tilt and Zoom was also much more precise with scaled controls allowing you to control speed. Overall though I always reach for my Pocket 3. The setup time / process with the Mobile 6 just keeps in inside my rucksack. I also attach a RODE shotgun mic to the pocket 3. You can adjust external mic gain, independently of the wireless mic and onboard mics.
Thanks so much for this video. Helped me a lot. Let me ask you, what is the difference between dynamic framing and the framing you can manually do when you are on active face tracking and you move the joystick to position the tracking?
good question - you would use dyamic framing when you want more control of where you are in the frame, a good example would be a cooking video, using normal active track, it puts your face in the middle of the shot and keeps it there, so nothing your working on, on the counter is in the frame, with dynamic you can set the framing and get you head above the middle of the frame, so the counter and what your working on would also be in frame. hope that makes sense?
@@YoukayTV thanks for your response. It makes sense. What I don't get is that with regular active track, I can still move the position of the object being track on a any part of the frame. I see that Dynamic tracking allows you to do the same via the 9 spots. Wouldn't that make these 2 features virtually the same? That's what is confusing me as I am trying to understand the difference if there is any. Thanks again!
awesome! yea i was pretty annoyed with the basic face tracing / active track until i started playing with the dynamic framing, its still a bit fiddly but youo can get great composition with it for moving things!!
Very handy tips, thank you 😊
most welcome!

Good tips that I never heard before
Thaks have a good one!
Excellent guide. I’ve been using my OP3 to record my year old grand-daughter using the active face tracking feature and it’s flawless👍👍😄
its SO GOOD! haha, best camera i've ever purchased in this price range, by a mile!

Didn't know about Dynamic Framing and the gymbal kept facing above my desired image. Cheers.
