- Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Mdm Ho Ching were conferred awards by the Sultan of Johor on Friday, with the award investiture ceremony held at the Istana Besar in Johor Bahru.

The timely award for our PM signifies the recognition of his successor. Johor, through centuries is on the pulse of Singapore. I read with interest when Johor sent troops to quell the Sepoy rebellion in Singapore, time immemorial indeed.
The Sepoy rebellion is more of a massacre than anything else. Something that the Singapore government is not proud of no matter during that time Singapore is under British rule

For some reason , Singapore respects the state of Johor more than the Fourth PM of Malaysia. Johor trades more with Singapore than with other states in Malaysia. Not only that, Singapore and Johor are also very much invested in each other's economy.
Singapore, even though an independent country, still has legacy laws and protocols that she has to honour in relation to the state of Johor, dating back centuries before the formation of Malaysia, when the Sultanate of Johor was a kingdom itself and Singapore island belonging under the sultanate. There are still patches of land in premium areas in Singapore that belongs to Johor in perpetuity, and cannot be sold or developed even by the government of Singapore, it is enshrined in the Constitution of Singapore. In some sense this is like the UK and the commonwealth countries of Canada, Australia and New Zealand, where they still retain the heritage of the British like having the King as head of state and previously the face of the Queen on their money notes. Singapore and Johor's relationship is somewhat akin to that.

@@adamfaidzal when someone has recognised and honoured you with one of the greatest award. the least you can do is to humble yourself and repay that kindness with kindness. if someone were to feed you food with his bare hand. do you repay that kindness by biting his hand?

Because.... Malaysia is ( MUSLIM MAJORITY NATION / COUNTRY ☪️ ..about half over population in Malaysia ,are MALAYS MUSLIMS
You know ? Malaysia have ( 13 states ) .
ALL STATES in Malaysia, MALAYS are majority ...especially in Johor ! Only in Penang chinese are majority

Singaporen might not comfortable that Mr Lee and his wife bow to JB sultan.
Bowing is actually sign of respect (It's normal)
as a Singaporean. i dont see why not? PM Lee and the Johor Sultan family are very familiar and friendly to each other. its done out of courtesy and respect which both hold on each other. i hope Johor and Singapore friendship to last for many many years to come
