Hello , I,ve liked this vid , & you,re obviously an experienced & knowledgeable chap , but , we have got problems seeing just what you,re doing for the most excellent view of the back of your right hand , your vid covers issues that I,ve heard a lot of us out here have got problems with , myself included , so you are potentially solving a lot of problems , worldwide , but could you do it again from overhead ? I,ve learnt from watching your vid how to do some myself . Best Regards .
Hi, good vid very educational, I'm trying to remove the spool on mine(990, same chest) do you have to remove the small screw from the side of the chest to allow the spool to be removed, if your looking from the front it's on the left side (two of them) many thanks
The spool valve is the piece on top of the valve bolt with the two nuts . If this is what you are after you just remove the nuts , I’ll attach a interesting read with a lot of info on for you , give this a read the diagrams are very useful to understand how it all works . vieux.tracteurs.free.fr/pdf/David_Brown_selectamatichydraulics.pdf
Always first with old David browns get the rear hydraulic filter under the back axle changed this can make a massive difference and were well know for clogging up
Hello, I have a question, do these two nuts counter or it somehow aligns this section or just the first tactile is tightened to the op and the second is counterattached? Sorry, I translated with a translator. Regards
Hello sir. I'm having a problem with my Case 380 CK the 3 point isn't working properly. It raises when started but won't go down. But if you shut the engine off you can force the 3 point down by hand. I surely would appreciate your advice. Thank you
Too much oil flow building the pressure up and not allowing it to go down . When you cut the engine and it’s not pumping it allows the pressure to drop down and allow it to lower .
How precise does the adjustment need to be on the spool valve? I have a 996 with the hydraulic arms not going down im pretty sure the spool valve is the problem although I don't have a manual to tell me the settings and im scared if i take it out the I could mess with the adjustment.
Yes a manual is needed to tell you the clearance of the valves and a dial indicator to measure the clearances as they need to be with a very small tolerance
@@JFFarviewFarm Hi again I changed the Valve chest but im still having the same problem with the arms not going down would you know any other potential causes?
@@JFFarviewFarm Yes, I can only push the arms down if I loosen the bleeder screw in front of the piston housing or by removing the dumb valve, but when I start the tractor the arms lift straight back up.
@@JFFarviewFarm good to hear. We got 990 with lift problems slow lifting sometimes lifts ok. . Over 2000 psi on pump. Spool valve seems to be seating down . Cleaned bypass and hold valve. There is the small ball bearing missing in hold valve. Plenty oil flowing in back inspection plate. Flow stops when lift arms are rising. Any ideas ?? Thanks dave.

Good job
Do you know where I can get injectors pipes for david brown 885
All brown parts are hard to come by now , if you have Facebook join the David brown group it’s great to find parts and info out 👍🏻
I wish to find a mechanic with your knowledge for my 990 selectamatic 🙁🙁

Restoring a 1967 David Brown 770. It was parked for 15 years. At first it had 500lbs of hydraulic pressure, no it has none! Any advice?

@@EpIcGeAr21 is the pressure too high not allowing it to come down ?
@@JFFarviewFarm Yes, I can only push the arms down if I loosen the bleeder screw in front of the piston housing or by removing the dumb valve, but when I start the tractor the arms lift straight back up.
So after stripping chest did it work perfectly?
Not the first time due to age related wear I had to alter the clearance to compensate but after this it works fine and goes up and down like it should
