I wish this show was on longer than 3 years. I enjoyed watching it. I thought that it was a great game show. I do enjoy the reruns. It is still great 👍. I wonder what some of the contestants look like now.
Well the ABC version is going into its sixth year, and even if new shows only appear a handful of times each year, its still fun an exciting to watch. But its like the difference between the MLB and the NFL in terms of how many shows are played, but it does make those ABC episodes more exciting. That said, to have such an exciting show on Monday-Friday back then along with countless others, we'll never quite have anything like we saw back in the 1960s, '70s, '80s, and early '90s in terms of the amount of different daily game shows we saw on the air, both network and syndicated (and even cable in later years).
When i return home i will check the quality of my master copy to verify this but i am fairly certain this is the issue. if it is not then i will repost the episode as soon as i am able. Again I apologize profusely for misleading you to believe the eps were DVD quality. It was not intentional. I try to do my best in posting the highest possible quality content and endeavor to continue doing so. I hope this answer helps and i thank you for your continued viewership.
The software i use (nero 9) allows for an "automatic fit to disc" option which adjusts resolution to the best possible settings when authoring. Obviously if i stretch it too far (try to put too much on one disc) it will downgrade the resolution in an attempt to fit everything on the disc. again i think this was the case as i usually was able to fit 4 to 6 eps per disc. there are rare occasions where i saw 7 or 8 to a single layer dvd. again i will check the eps in question and let you know.
Well i am essentially uploading VOB files straight from the DVD file structure. No recoding or conversion of any kind. so essentially what you are seeing is straight from the DVD and the file size is pretty standard (0.99 GB i believe). again there was a time when i was experimenting with how far i could stretch things... seeing how many eps i could fit on DVD without signifigant loss of quality. I just checked the episode in question as well as a few that followed. The file info says the resolution is 704 x 480. this might be the reason why it is not giving a 480 option and is probably due to the way i authored the DVD some years ago. I might have attempted to squeeze to many eps onto one disc resulting in a slightly lower resolution. at the time i originally authored the DVDs i was something of a nube and prob messed something up. i apologize for this. OK Sean Martin, have you recorded any PYL episodes from the green ball-era GSN years, or you just didn't get GSN then when PYL was seen in the GSN green ball-era years? Also, some people would fit in 4-5 episodes per disc as the DVD can hold up to 2 hours if they want to keep the quality pristine. Do you know when you first started recording these PYL episodes from GSN?
Also the first episode with the "France" prize, which by the retail value, probably doesn't include Paris. And its remarkable how so many contestants would choose London over $2500, not understanding how weak the Pound was at the time (it was pretty close to parity over the Dollar at the time).
You are correct about 4 in 5 spins. - A contestant named Cre earned $500, then hit four whammies in a row. [Tony / Dan / Cre] - Kasey hit three whammies out of the gate, then $4,000 and a spin, then whammied out. [Kacey / Chris / Skip] To my knowledge, nobody has ever hit 4 in just 4 total spins.

I think it is more about the size of the file. If the size is not enough to be within the quality of 480 then it will go to 360. Just my assumption.
