    Well, well, well. This is legit my top 5 favorite DIYs of all time and that's strictly because the final result is so epic! I anticipated the pattern for this to be so difficult. In order to make it fit at the calf, then tighter at the ankle then fit around the boot... it seemed so complicated. It took me 1 minute to figure out and better yet, ITS NO-SEW!!!
    I will show you how you can sew in a lining, if you want to do that. But keep in mind, faux leather is fabric on the back side, so you dont really need to.
    We will clean up that back seam with a decorative detail that not only strengthens the seam but looks profesh.
    I am making 3 pairs of boots in this video so feel free to pick and choose what you like!
    MATERIALS
    1/2 yard of leather of your choice - I chose Faux
    Rotary Blade (optional) - amzn.to/45tXqYC
    Ruler (optional) - amzn.to/3L20R0z
    Cutting Mat (optional) - amzn.to/45BLh46
    Or Fabric Scissors - amzn.to/3Pon4Zn
    Fabric Glue - amzn.to/3EnNdku

    So happy to see you partnered with Factor. My husband and I have eaten their wonderful meals for two years. They are the yummiest!!! The Sundried tomato chicken with zucchini noodles is my favorite. Back to boots, I can’t believe how easy these are!! Amazballs

    I used to make similar for my son who is an actor and used to perform in Shakespeare plays. I will tell you a little secret.. whenever i would see old leather sofas thrown out, I would cut the leather from the back of the sofa.. no matter how old and run down the sofa was, the back of the sofa is always unused. Why throw out perfect leather!

      Holy Cow, those are expensive! Who spends 850 bucks on a pair of simple, black ballet flats?
      They don't look much different, than other ballet flats with a strap, though. Are you asking for a way, to attach an elastic band yourself?

    This is great for ppl like my daughter who has wide calf’s and most boots don’t fit her calf’s so now I can make her a pr!
    I’ve done this before yrs ago (literally in 1995) uuuggg shows my age 😂 but I as “leg warmers” I used an old sweater!
    Growing up in Alaska we didn’t have store’s to get in style fashion & shipping was worse than now! so I had to be creative 😊 I seriously made my own clothes that’s why I love Orly! She’s like a younger me from the past bringing the future 😊💕 But also brings knee ideas as well

    You sound like me. I'm bad about drinking my one cup of coffee, getting busy, starting to feel a bit queasy & and realizing it's 2 or 3 in the afternoon, and I haven't eaten since last night. Lol
    Really cute idea. It's not something I could get away with wearing, considering I'm 64 years old, but something I could make for my 25 year old daughter. Lol
    My mind was putting studs along the seams. Since studs can come in a variety of metal finishes as well as shapes like round, square, and star, there are so many possibilities. I was also thinking on the thinner fabric, as a sewist, that reinforcing piece on the side could be stitched down close on both edges.Thanks for sharing an easy change to ankle boots. ❤

      @TheDIYDesigner TBH, I do pretty much wear whatever I want to. No miniskirts, but that wasn't my thing anytime the style rolled around. My style is more of the Boho Hippie style. I love the long skirts made from jeans, I'll be making a few for winter since coastal Georgia's Summer and Fall are still hot and humid. Lol
      I've been looking at a pair of pull on linen pants I have that might be a good candidate though. Lol
      Thanks for all of the neat tips, trucks and modifications. ❤️

  • @Jahnndra
    @Jahnndra ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m a bit confused, around minute 6:30 you cut the slope which makes sense then you say you created too much of a point and then you say that it’s not correct, then you show the same boot covers with what looks like a smaller slope. So did you cut them to crate a smaller slope or did you cut them perfectly straight? I can’t quite tell from the video and you saying it was too much of a point confused me. I thought we wanted a point in the back toward the heel. This is why I don’t sew, because I seem to have sewing and cutting dyslexia lol.

    • @OrlyShaniShow
      @OrlyShaniShow  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, you DO NOT want a point. From the back it should look totally straight. It isn't totally straight, but it willlook that way. So if the slope you create doesn't get squared off, and creates a point, you need to shave off those edges a bit so it is more gradual

    Orly you level of creative genius is astounding! Absolutely spot on brilliant! I’d like to offer a lazy girl hack if anyone is interested. Instead of using a big and bulky traditional iron use the straightener for your hair! It will save a lot of time, fit so much better and make it much easier. Plus you can choose the exact temperature setting needed for your particular fabric to create the crispest seams! However I would recommend using parchment paper on the actual flat iron plates if you are still using it on your hair as any buildup of product could damage or stain the fabric.
    ❤ from Shannon in Canada 🇨🇦
    PS-If you have a wee bit of extra money it might be wise to pick up a very inexpensive straightener to use solely on fabric. Honestly I never use my traditional iron anymore because the $12.99 straightener is far better in pretty much every way.

    Oh this is amazing. I have a large remnant from recovering my dining room chairs. A bazillion years ago, I looked at that and thought: would make great over the knee boots....I can make the dream come true, now.

    Immediately thought “leg warmers” from decades past! I’ll have to do a pair to go over my work boots when the weather gets cold.

    This is so good for girls like me who can find ankle boots that fit them, but it's rare to find calf-high boots that fit properly
