Sorry for the late reply, missed the comment. It gave me one Bolen and many zanders this season already :) I personally do not make or fish vertical Asp lures - no speed retrieve neither. This one I'm retrieving at normal speed, however my favourite Asp fishing technic is top water :) with WTD lure - sadly this season all the attacks were empty :(

I've had other BPM baits th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 before and they've pretty much always came through for me with the suskie smallies here and even with the walleye and pike, but I realized I didn't have an "in-between" pattern so this junebug one fills that role in no problem. it pairs up magnificently with a junebug Zoom Z-craw Jr that was trimmed a couple millimeters before the hook slots and rigged sideways for that fatter panfish side profile while still being a nice'n'compact presentation, a real power-finesse bait. Hell, it was so pretty I even bothered to fotosketch the pic into a watercolor painting image just to show you it's beauty! Even the blades are really well made, sure, they're not of Hildebrandt-level exquisiteness but look at the bead's reflection on the colorado blade, definitely well-made! The only "problem" spot it had was a bald spot in the skirt but it was nothing that I couldn't easily fix with a but of tuggin'n'shiftin' with the strands for a couple of seconds, besides that it is pretty minty!

Well, the only way is to check yourself how it looks on the foil and than mark which direction is you lure head - as I showed on the frame of the tool 😉
My go to size for aspius was 7cm, only in the summer when they feed on newly hatched fry 5cm... This is the first fish of the season and took this 9cm lure 💜 so I think I'll give a try with bigger baits this year 👌

Hi 👋 I see we're thinking alike, cause I was planning to made the 7cm version for myself this summer. I lost both the original and the one from the video already, so I'm not sure about the weight 🤷 it was very slow sinking lure, nearly suspending. The angle of the bib was at 45°, the size difficult to say 🤔 I also did 11cm version, which was highly successful for asp 🎣 I will recreate it for the video in July, then I'll make sure to include all the measurements 👌

Nice catch ! Two weeks ago got one similar size, unfortunately lost it under my legs when i was trying to catch it with lip grip, treble hook snaged into branch that was sticking out of the ground and he riped of splitring 😞😞 Later that day got one that was 54cm 2,4kg. I will try to recreate both of those lures, only i don’t think second one would work for me since i fish in prety shalow water with a lot of underwater structures like big rocks, grass and alge.
@@maidsuho3337 it's a shame that you lost it, I always carrying folding landing net on my back, once the fish is landed and recovering in the net, I have all time in the world to sort out my selfie stick and the phone for the photos 😉 yeah cykada type lure, most likely not going to be the best choice in shallow water, although this one with the fast retrieve swims 30cm bellow the surface. Sure, works well, for the cheapest thing on the marked it does it's job, to shots of 99sec and the resin is solid enough for the paint, foiling or whatever. For the final curing I always display the lure in the sunlight on the window.

The thickness of the balsa sheet was 7mm, the length of the lure if I remember correctly was 10.5cm 😉
