any newari to help me answer this. can you tell me if newar are kirati or licchavi?
as far as we know now, newar are either descendants of kirat or descendants of licchavi. this is the reason why newar are both mongolian and some newar are aryan looking.
so which one does newar belong to? kirat or licchavi?

Well, Newars had been existed long before both Kirati and Lichhavi conquered Nepal Valley. Non of these both dynasties established Nepal valley. They just replaced earlier dynasties. And they joint into already existed Newar Civilization. Kirati does not mean only Rai and Limbu. They inherited the word but it meant HIMALAYAN PEOPLE then. Newarswere and are HIMALAYAN PEOPLE.

@@NiranjanMalakar Another thing. Now I agree why Pasupathinath temple should have a Kirati caretaker. As long as the Indian Brahmins are the main caretaker of the Pashupatinath temple, it symbolizes racism at its finest in Nepal.
The history of Indian Brahmins at the Pashupatinath temple goes back to the 14th century during the time of Malla King.
Jayasthiti Malla invited the Indian Brahmins to Nepal and appointed the Indian Brahmins to be the main caretaker of our Pashupatinath temple.
Thus started the process of Hinduization in our country started. Jayasthiti Malla and the Indian Brahmins formulated the complex caste system in Nepal. This tradition still exists today. That is for the last 600 years, Nepalese have been falling at the feet of Indian Brahmins.
The Brahmins got a special place and recognization due to the policy made by Jayasthiti Malla.
Nepal must now replace the Indian brahmins at the Pashupatinath temple and let the Kirati priest be in charge of the temple.
The Dalits and Madhesis should help the Kirati priest look after the Pashupatinath temple.
There is no place for RACISM in Nepal or the World in this modern.
Just to let you know that there was NO Hindu caste system in Nepal during the Kirat time. This Hindu caste system entered Nepalf from norther Indian after the Licchavis invaded Kathmandu. The Licchavis defeated the Kirat and thus the Hindu caste system came to exist in Nepal.

I mean not all newars are kiratis but those I have listed are kiratis.
Jirel people are the first traces of Kiratis moving out of Kathmandu valley after Kirat rule came to end at the hands of Licchavis. Today Jirel people mostly inhabit in Jiri regions. Meanwhile, those Kiratis who have stayed back in the Kathmandu valley are identified as mahajan,dangol, awale, suwal and prajapatis.
