Does anybody know The History of this Station? I have photos, but cannot pin a Time to when it was taken? Locos in the Photos are in Steam. Kalahari still SAR Black and other Kalahari has a Name "Star King" and other one "Granny Smith". If anyone can help it would be much Appreciated. No numbers on Cab of Black Kalahari. Almost like it sits to be Scrapped or taken away somewhere?

The line was started in the very early 1900's. That shed area would have been developed at the same time (1903)
      The kalaharie's came from South West Africa when their line was upgraded to 3'6", in the very early 1960's. There were 21 Kalahries. Numbers 17,18,19 , 117, 118, 119, 120, 121, 122, 123, 124, 132, 133, 134, 135, 136, 144, 145, 146, 147, 148.
Number 124 was painted green when she last went to Uitenhage shops in 1986, and named Granny Smith and 122 was painted red shortly after and named Starking. The very last Kalaharie's to be steamed at Humewood in the middle to late 1990's , were 117, 119, 122, 124 and 145, along with NGG16 garrett number 131 who joined the fleet, coming from Natal around 1986/7. The narrow gauge lined closed in 2011.
Twenty 91 class diesels arrived in Sept 1973, replacing the Kalaharie's from the top section. ( Assegaaibos to Avontuur)

Back to the stone ages. That's where we're going.

The South African class NG loco's are (were) something different from the rest and were beautiful! Rumors say that the Apple Express will be back on track again soon...probably not with steam but with a class 91-000 diesel.

Whaaat? This is the Staccatos from the 60's. You must be tone deaf.
