This area is always crowded from tourism and folks off the Cruise Liners.. A sunny day especially. Its from the Royal Weddings etc!! However, walk a couple of minutes and there are peaceful green spaces everywhere.. Nice to see our wonderful London being enjoyed.. Every large City in the world is sadly full of of such people.. We don't get lucky lucky or bracelet scams though, fortunately.
If you want the full London experience by getting your pocket picked just go to Borough Market. Even the shopkeepers know it is going on and say nothing to warn you as it happens.

If you have not pick pocketed/stolen from someone or taken something that does not belong to you and you have been “stopped and searched” - you will have absolutely nothing to worry about, the Police will thank you for helping and your “reputation” will not be damaged - in fact in will be enhanced as you have proved to be a good person! I will never be fearful of ever being asked to open my bags by Police Officers because I am not a nasty thief who preys on tourists and visitors!
Pick-pocket theives operate in groups of 3-5. They have look outs and they steal and pass the waller/purse to a handler who then dumps the wallet. This person has been spotted by a special undercover squard and stopped.
When I go to places like this I try and work out how much I am going to need i never ever take my debit card , I have a little cotton purse that can be pinned inside of what I'm wearing and always have a few extra £s hidden somewhere just in case
