If I were ever elected to congress (either House) I would make it a point to tell a witness or nominee that if they ever thank me for a question I would tear them apart with rapid fire difficult questions. I know it’s considered decorum but, DAYUM!, it gets irritating after a while.

This guy had zero guilt over what he has done wrong. He just saw the dollar signs and did what he thought he needed to do to get the money. He didn't once even acknowledge the responsibility he had to protect the girl.
And at the end said to ignore this case completely.
Sadly, it wasn't his job to protect the girl. As the school's lawyer, it was his job to protect the school and that's what he was trying to do. @Dwight Currie even still it was a hearing nothing more, not a trial. So in Court there is a judge that presides over the case, in these hearings there is no judge. So if you want to call it court, it is a kangaroo court at best.

Well done Sen. Cruz on holding a lawyer to account. The lawyer decided that the pay cheque was sufficient to cover whatever moral & ethical reservations he may have had. Instead of attempting to demonstrate that the school did everything reasonable to protect a child in its care, he decided to go after the victim - a child. Is this the sort of behaviour that should be rewarded? Rejecting his appointment on this basis sends a clear message to the legal community and may give others cause to think.

What I don't understand is why this guy (and these other nominees) just don't say "It was messed up.....I was working for the school, trying to protect them and I didn't think about the poor girl. I failed her and failed the system.....but you know what? Unfortunately, we have far too many worthless attorneys in our Government.
And if it doesn't bend the way they like, they just lie. If they get caught in their lies they claim they "mis-spoke" or were taken out of context.
