    I have to admit, I love his sense of humor. I knew that the hyena would be on the list, and not just because it's in the thumbnail. Let me put it this way: If you've ever given birth (or were in the room when your wife gave birth), imagine how much pain they went through. (pause) Now imagine how much worse it would be if your birth canal was essentially shaped like a saxophone. This just proves that Kyle Hill has a point: Evolution doesn't care about what works best. It just cares about what _works._ In some cases, it's like evolution took a look and said "eh, close enough."

    6:54 You actually weren't too far off the mark. The eagle in that vid (the one that hunts sloths) was a Harpy eagle, the 3rd largest eagle on earth. Most other species would generally be too small to take on sloths of that size, but the Amazon rainforest is home to some anomolies lol

    fun fact, cheetahs are the largest cat that purrs and can be somewhat domesticated.

      What about cougars?

    • @brigidtheirish
      @brigidtheirish ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They domesticate *way too easily.* It's kind of a problem, because the time it takes animal rehabers to get an injured cheetah healthy enough to be released back to the wild is about as long as it takes for cheetahs to get so used to people they almost *can't* be released.

    Cheetahs and leopards are both cats. Leopards are considered big cats, part of the panthera genus, and can roar, cheetahs are a part of the ‘small cat’ clade like domesticated cats and can purr.

    depending on the species, sloths get at most to just a bit under a meter in overall length, and are typically closer to 60-70 cm
    hilariously, there were giant ground sloths - like, elephant-sized - in North America up until about 12,000 years ago, but like almost all North American megafauna, they died out in the Quaternary Extinction Event
    I've seen a life-size recreation of one of those monsters
    it had claws the size of my head

    Leopards (panthers) are much more muscular with less flexible spines. The leopard's strength is what allows them to climb with their carrion. Lions have done this but it's pretty much the ritual of the Leopard. If you look at the cheetah and leopard head-on, the differences are striking. The cheetah has a much slimmer body. They're heads are flatter and their ears are small and rather far apart. Cheetahs also have the telltale black "tears" running down from the inner corners of their eyes. Cheetahs are one of very few species of large cats that can purr and meow like a domestic cat. Pumas (aka mountain lion or cougar) also purr and can make higher pitched cute meowing sounds. Cheetahs have the most flexible spines of the big cats and are smaller than their cousins. Their light weight and spine flexibility are what give them the ability to explode to speeds over 70 mph, but for only short bursts. The Cheetah's spots are just that, while the leopard's usually are more elaborate, particularly the clouded leopard. That's about all I can think of. I'm not a biologist. I just really love cats of all kinds. My favorite of all time is the lion. It's smaller than some breeds of Tigers but they are undeniably gorgeous badasses!

  • @paigeharrison3909
    @paigeharrison3909 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Cheetahs have that tear drop marking down their faces that leopards lack, the easiest way to tell them apart. Cheetahs are also much slimmer than leopards and have longer legs and a different spot pattern. Cheetahs actually have one of the highest rates of hunt success of large carnivores, but the problem is they get so many of their kills stolen from them. After running it's prey down it has to rest a few minutes before it can even it. Lions and hyenas watch cheetahs hunt because it's pretty well a guarantee of an easy meal.

    Re: Eagle & Sloth
    The sloth may look bigger, but the eagle will just kill it, wound it, knock it off balance, whatever, and it won’t stop at one try. When it drops to the ground, they can finish it off, & carry away whatever they can carry.
    The sloth, on the other hand, moves about a foot a minute(made up number), and can’t respond quickly, especially if they don’t even see it.

    Hey Kabir, always enjoying to content. You might not need a time machine, because they are planning to bring some of these animals that died recent like the Wolley Mammoth, the sabertooth, the land sloth, so we just might get to see them before we pass away!

      I don't think they should because nature choose them to go extinct and I don't think we should play god and bring them back. Bringing them back could lead to consequences that could bite us in the rear end.

    Easy ways to tell cheetahs and leopards apart - cheetahs have the "tear tracks" on their face, leopards dont. Cheetahs have solid spots, while leopards have rosettes. And finally, cheetahs are like the greyhounds of the cat world, with long, lean bodies. Leopards are stockier, like pitbulls :D
    Also, cheetahs can climb trees, though they generally don't, because its much harder for them

  • @mod850
    @mod850 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Leopards are pretty ripped, but they can't chase prey down for shit. They are almost exclusively "drop on their heads" ambush predators. Cheetahs have been adapting to their lack of abs and pecs by bonding with their siblings to make a hunting pack, therefore being able to go after and keep larger kills.
