From a American-Norwegian, thank you so much for this video. I haven't been to Norway since I was a baby, but I hope to visit before I leave the Earth.
You must take a trip in the summer - we having a fantastic time. What is the problem - there are many flights to Norway directly from the USA. Most Norwegians have been to the USA, Asia and most European countries long before they turn 30
Now you have been in Norway so long that you must have figured out the reason why Grandiosa pizza is the most-eaten frozen pizza. It's first and foremost because kids prefer it because of its mild flavor. The vast number of Norwegians would rather eat real pizza, but in Norway, we are close to always putting our kid's wishes before our own.
Hearing you call «lompe» a potato pancake cracked me up! But it’s true, though!😂 This is fantastic, thanks for making these points about our country so fun; your positive energy is contagious!
I’m an American of Italian and Norwegian descent …predominantly Italian 3/4 and 1/4 Norwegian…but I know nothing about my Norwegian heritage just that my grandmother was 100% Norwegian..her mother was an immigrant here
Born and raised in Norway, but i only tick 3 of the boxes: I have atleast 10 backpacks, I make my own sheepheads, pinnekjøtt and lutefisk from scratch, and i always say thanks for the food. Even at restaurants.
1 - I have three flags. Two big flags (One for inside and obviously one hanging proudly outside to welcome anyone visiting), and one small one to wave around in celebrations. Or I could just get another big one since they are light enough for me to wave around^^ 2 - I'll definitely go skiing next season!:) I just barely missed it when I got here. 3 - Got one. 4 - Thank you for the tip! This is helping my language study:) 5 - Thank you for the tip! - I was saying 'Ja Takk' or 'Nei Takk' to say yes and no thanks. I probably embarrassed myself there, haha. 6 - I usually do this by reflex because of my second language being Afrikaans where 'Ja' also means yes and is pronounced the same way too:) 7 - Of course. Norway is the Best! Obviously. 8 - Thank you for the tip:) I'll make use of this if I visit there one day (I'm enjoying Norway too much right now and wouldn't want to go anywhere else). 9 - I'll have to stock up for Wednesday the 17th:) 10 - Of course. 11 - I'll try get one when I manage to move here one day soon:) 12 - I have two rucksacks. Big one and a small one for whatever occasions. 13 - I am always honest when I say that I am well here because I have been happy every day since I got here. People who lie will always be caught out anyway. 14 - Thank you for the tip:) 15 - Thank you for the tip:) I sort-of do this already. 16 - I never go a day without Kvikk Lunsj. There is ALWAYS atleast one in my fridge. I usually buy them in bulk packs. 17 - I never stare. 18 - I already do this reflexively ^^ 19 - Delicious! I'll go buy some! 20 - Adding it to my shopping list. Been wanting to try some of the pizzas here but wasn't sure which to pick. Got the perfect grill plate to cook them:) 21 - I live in my cabin at the moment^^ I have a beautiful view of a lake to enjoy every day:) 22 - I already eat most of it:) 23 - Adding it to my shopping list. 24 - Another thing going on my shopping list. 25 - I do every time I enjoy the lake view from my balcony. 26 - I'll give it a try. 27 - I'll try this while exploring:) 28 - I always drink a lot of coffee. 29 - I always say thank you when receiving something. 30 - I'm prepared and waiting happily for the 17th this week:)
Allværsjakke (all weather jacket) og vinterjakke (winter coat) is all you need. Winter is way too cold to use allværsjakke if you're outside for more than a couple of minutes.
Your videos are very informing and also funny. Came across your videos because my family and I are planning a trip to Norway in 2024. Keep up the good work!
Norwegians love to shop in Sweden. And we love to be in Denmark. We love Scandinavian summers." Det er dejlig å være norsk i Danmark." It is for sure. Secretly norwegians love Sweden. And they love us cause we spend alot of money there, shopping. Better prizes on alcohol. In Denmark too. Long love relationship between the scandinavian countries. Long history together. Languages. But dont always understand eachother. Like married couples. 😂❤
Guilty of many things in this video. One you didn't mention which a lot of Norwegians do: sleep with the bedroom window open, almost all year round. Need that fresh air, you know 😅. Must be a thing we bring into adulthood after sleeping outside as babies in the baby pram 🤣
I know this is an older video but do you know if there is any place I can purchase that hat and gloves online? Thank you. Cute video. I've never been to Norway but I plan on going someday.
Hi anna i really love norway since i giving up on norway and now I want to live there because I have canada and I love canada so much as norway now it's calling me my attention to norway again I'll buy a norwegian shirt with norwegian flags on it but how can I move to norway because I'd like to study in canada as an american citizen of puerto rico with us passport
Love this! ❤ You nailed it! Though... Grandiosa and sheepshead are... imho... disgusting! (I prefer salmon, reindeer and whale! (Yep, I am from Finnmark))
hahaha! So true, Sweden will never be better than us in anything! If they are... then i guess we don't really care about it as much as they do.. The cross country skier Northug always picked on Sweden, but actually, he was more populear in Sweden than in Norway, in good or bad. He brought the Norwegians and Swedes to the slopes to root for their athletes and to the TV screens. We love Sweden and the Swedes, but as their little brother, we have to be better..
Norway better than Sweden in everything isn't really a thing in Norway. It's the Swedes that says Norway is better than Sweden 😂 Most Norwegian part of me. All steriotypes. I eat fried fish tongues. It might remind of French snails. Jelly-ish sea food.
My wife and I were in Norway this Spring and visited four cities. Norway is making a grave mistake with its allowance of so many migrants from certain undesirable nations to enter and to place themselves on Norway's welfare system. It appears to us that this behavior by Noray is very self destructive. As the old saying goes, you people will find out the hard way.
Hi, Norwegian here. It sounds like we're making an even graver mistake by letting undesirable racist tourists like yourself come here. Apart from that we're very happy Cheers.
Everything. I read and view about Norway screams for me to have a proper visit. In my research the topic of antisemitism comes up. It’s been said that Norwegians have little knowledge about Judaism and many with negative attitudes. It’s also the only Scandinavian county that sold out their Jewish population to the nazis. What have your experience of attitudes towards Jews and if I would ever wish to live their would I face discrimination and or social isolation? Also I enjoy your videos. I enjoy your perceptiveness and interesting insights. Thank you
Norway was neutral under ww2 nazi didnt care. They took over king and government fled. A guy name quisling got in charge with his men working with hitler deporting jews. War ended quisling and his men got executed. So whats your point?
Your claims about Norway (during WW2) has nothing with reality to do ....so the only one who shows "little knowledge" is you. If you have an issue about WW2 ....you should talk to the Germans..... The Norwegian King and legal government was in exile in London. What the Norwegian government did there was organising resistance against the occupation and organise the most important Norwegian contribution to the outcome of WW2. It is said that no one wins a war without good logistics. Norway was one of the world's biggest shipping nations ....and that fleet of ships were the nazi-Germans never able to lay their hand on ....since it was spread all over the world. Norway had the largest and most modern fleet of oil tankers. Over 1000 ships were put under the exile government's control. They crossed the Atlantic with all sorts of supply to Britain and to Soviet Union. Around 60% of all fuel that Britain used during WW2 was supplied with Norwegian ships. It's said by the British that without the Norwegian shipping fleet Britain would have lost both the Battle of Britain (nazi attempt to invade Britain) and the Battle of the Atlantic (the supply route across the Atlantic). The British Navy nor their air force couldn't operate without fuel. Norway lost over 500 ships and thousands of civilian sailors. Their contribution was essential for how long the war lasted and the outcome of WW2/destroying the nazi regime and how things would look like in Europe. .....and it probably saved the lives of many Jews. If there is something the Jews should do than it would be to thank Norway. Norway was occupied by the nazi-German regime for 5 years and around 60% of all Jews in Norway were able to escape to Sweden ....that thanks to voluntary help/transport/guiding from Norwegians....and that with the risk of their own lives. The border region between Norway/Sweden is a large area of wilderness of forests, swamps, rivers and mountains .....and it is an area many times larger than the area of Israel today. Sweden on the other hand was not occupied. They even cooperated with the nazi-German regime. During the WW2 did Swedem let over 2 million German soldiers ....plus all sorts of supply and weapons.....be transported on Swedish railways ....to and from occupied Norway and to and from the northern front where the nazi tried to take the control of Murmansk (in Soviet union). One of the main reason for nazi Germany to invade Norway was to get control over the port of Narvik ....and thereby the control over iron ore that came on train from the mines in northern Sweden. The Swedish did not lift a finger to help when neighbouring Norway was invaded/occupied. Instead they throughout WW2 supplied the Germans with iron ore exported over the occupied port of Narvik. Not in any way trying to diminish what happened to the Jews it must be said that WW2 in Europe was about a "little more" than just them. Large parts of Europe stood in flames ....ruined, nations traumatised and estimated over 70 million people lost their lives ....and the majority of those were civilians. Soviet union alone lost over 25 million people. Instead of coming with fake accusation against a nation ....that came with significant contributions to get an end of the war madness you should try to inform yourself better. Let ma also say that critique against Israel's behaviour does NOT equal antisemitism ....that only show absence of rational thinking.
We had traitors during the nazi occupation, but it's important to understand that Germany at one point had 400,000 soldiers stationed in a country with 3 million people. They would at times randomly pick Norwegians out of the phone book and have them executed just to send a message. I find it difficult to judge people living at the time. It's easy to act tough when you're not actually faced with torture.
@@Dan-fo9dk Damn, son! Well said. Obviously, you are more informed. Seems to me the people who scream about racism and more are always looking for it because it’s always on their mind. Best to let scars heal instead of constantly picking at them.
