“Fallen Angel”… one of Poison’s more serious (but still rocking) songs.
Yes they have ballads. “Every Rose Has its Thorn” is the most popular.

I've wondered the same thing, I mean its probably their most famous song I would think. "I Won't Forget You" could also be listed as a ballad.

Not one of Poison's biggest hits; "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" literally was Poison's only song to hit number one on the Billboard singles chart.

Poison was the band that the term “hair metal” was primarily invented for. The drummer, Rikki Rockett, was actually a licensed hairstylist.
Did you guys already see the video for “Nothin’ But A Good Time”? (EDIT: just checked; you did!) That’s the ultimate Poison anthem! As far as ballads, “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” was a gigantic hit for the band, and is still an excellent power ballad.

where do people just come up with complete nonsense from like it´s the truth lol hair metal actually started in the 1980´s, ever hear of kiss? They called it hair metal back in the 70´s but the phrase didn´t catch on until the 1980´s, mainly because it wasn´t until the 1980´s when record shops started having different metal categories on their shelves. But come on, hair metal term was made for poison hahahaha eveb alice cooper was considered hair metal in the 1970s´...stop making up nonsense.

"Every Rose Has It's Thorn" is a great ballad; "Something to Believe In" will likely make Amber cry - it is a very powerful song, not something you would expect from Poison, much more mature than the party tunes that made them popular (it's also from the Flesh & Blood album from which "Ride the Wind" comes - one of their best non-ballad tunes).

Don't bother. They are really ignorant when it comes to... everything.

  • @keithmurphy5356
    @keithmurphy5356 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Arguably the most polarizing "hair metal" band of the '80s. Their debut album was HUGE and they were all over MTV...But they also drew backlash from the hard rock community. Guns n Roses had major beef with them (among others). Slash, who auditioned for Poison before they made it big, called them "Posers who represent everything wrong with rock and roll." Mike Judge tapped into the heavy dislike for the band. His characters Beavis and Butthead (who wore Metallica and AC/DC T-shirts) HATED Poison..lol. What's crazy is Poison is now known today more for their global hit ballad "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" than the over the top hair metal they became infamous for.

I was living with a friend of mine, back in the 80's, and he bought a Poison album. I'd never heard of them. I saw the album and said, "Those are some hot chicks!' He said, "They are guys, you idiot!" And he made me listen to the album, and I LOVED it. Been a big fan ever since! So, I'm offering my sincerest apologies to Poison for my abject stupidity. I've already apologized to Paul, and we've been friends for 30 years!

I saw Poison in Hollywood well before their first album. They have always been a great live band. Their biggest hit was actually a ballad. Every Rose Has It's Thorn. It was a #1 Song on the billboard charts for weeks. If you ask most people who listened to Poison in the 80's to name their biggest song you would hear Every Rose Has It's Thorn from a lot of them. It was HUGE. Their drummer Rikki Rocket is one of my all time favorites. Little fact: Poison actually took off on their Debut Album with their SECOND single which was Talk Dirty To Me. After that all of their singles from that album were hits. I Want Action was their 3rd single. Another ballad was their 4th single I Won't Forget You.

I did a report in high school on poison, in 1995. I found a book called The Rock 'n' Roll Encyclopedia, and it gave a list of each of the member's personal requests to have the dressing room. One was Reese's pieces, another was shrimp, and I forgot the others… But… But I specifically remember they ran through 782 condoms across a three-month summer tour in 1992. The teacher was less than thrilled that I included that in an oral report.

Saw Poison live in 1988 and they rank at the top at sounding as great or better than their studio records, esp C.C.'s backing vocals and guitar licks. I've been to 400 concerts from the 80s's through now, so this is saying a lot. I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't like wild fun music. Songs don't have to be serious all the time. We rocked and had a blast in the 80's!!

"Every Rose Has its Thorn" is not only one of the best 80's ballads, but its one of the best ballads of all time. Bret wrote the song out of true life experience, and he sings it with heart. You guys need to react to it. Poison was a huge, huge band and their legacy still lives on as they still tour every now and then, and their songs are timeless. The guitarist CC Deville is one of the best. Thank you for this reaction!

Poison is the ultimate party band. Sex, drugs, rock & roll were rampant in the Decade of Decadence. Women owned their sexuality and gladly used it to get what they wanted contrary to what is said today that say they were sexualized objects being taken advantage of...NO! Give the women more credit. They held all of the power and they knew it.
There is light heartedness and good fun nature to this music that understood that none of this was to be taken seriously. Sex was sex and it was meant to be enjoyed. Drugs & alcohol were the life of the party, albeit we were excessive and many paid a price. But it was the music the drove us. The energy behind it. After all - DON'T NEED NOTHIN BUT A GOOD TIME. Have seen these guys well over a dozen times live. They have opened up for so many bigger bands - Motley Crue, Def Leppard etc and they were always amazing live and often times were better than the main act. They also toured on their own bill and were crazy good. This band is as excellent live. They just exude energy and have a genuine love of entertaining people and it is all on full display. Their videos just convey how crazy & fun they are.
Yes, you have done one poison ballad - "Something to Believe in". Their most popular song that hit #1 was "Every Rose Has It's Thorn"

Hahahahahaha....... My Daughter and I recently laughed about this. In her very early teenage years when she knew everything already, she was absolutely in love with Lead Singer Brett Michaels. She had his posters on the wall, and T-shirts. I really wasn't much of a fan of the Glam Metal and Hair Band stuff. Although there were a few songs from some of those bands back then that I still listen to today. Met Rikki Rockett, the Drummer a few years ago. It's funny because they are all getting old like me.

You reacted to "Something to Believe In" from Poison already. That is one of their power ballads . "Every Rose Has its Thorn" is another power ballad from them. They were a nice group for a hair band. Catchy and fun. But most of these hair rock bands were a little corny but popular in the '80s and early '90s..

As for ballads, you totally need to put "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" at the top of your list now for that epic Poison Ballad.

He’s a huge supporter of the troops and veterans. Please do more Poison!! We need more Creed too like What’s this life for, One, Faceless Man, My Own Prison, Are you Ready?, What if, etc!!

Poison is awesome. "Every Rose Has its Thorn" is one of the best rock ballads of the 80's. "Fallen Angel" is another great song by Poison.

Poison r actually a fun time rock n roll band... Anybody who expected their brand of hard rock music to be more "meaningful" clearly missed the point. Back then, they were trashed by the press because they were popular w/ women and girls - there was a jealousy factor... 🙄
No one can say that Poison did not work hard to make it successful... They were meticulous w/ their image... They had a stage show worked out... and they toured extensively in the 80's and early 90's... The moment they actually made a deeper, serious album in 1993 ('Native tongue'), the guitarist C.C. DeVille had been fired in 1991 and replaced briefly by stellar guitarist Richie Kotzen (who was apparently soon fired for having an affair w/ drummer Rikki Rocket's then-fiancee) and no one gave Poison credit for their music.
Poison actually had a #1 single which was a ballad - 'Every rose has its thorn'... which singer Bret Michaels wrote after he discovered that his then-GF was cheating on him (Not that he was faithful either...) and other ballads included - "Something to believe in" ... "I won't forget you"... 'Life goes on'.... 'Stand'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥

Do they have ballets... only a #1 song every rose has its thorn that there's no way yall haven't heard it, also something to believe in (which will make you cry), I won't forget you, life goes on which is criminally underrated with a killer solo

I so miss this music! Everything could be going wrong in your day, but then you put on some Poison and you got the headphones blaring and life was good! Check out Poison's "Fallen Angel " and a remake they did of "Your Mama Don't Dance". Thanks for making this 50 year old woman smile today while I'm sitting home sick! Gotta get back to some more Guns N' Roses, too! Try out "You Could be Mine " (You'll love the video, just saying) and another song by them is "Civil War".

Poison in concert will blow most bands out of the water. Saw them on their last tour with Motley Crue and Def Leppard. The other two were a bit of a snooze fest, which hurts my heart to say because I LOVE them both. I don't think Bret stopped jumping around the entire time Poison was on stage.

There is nothing like 80’s music videos. You got introduced to so much great music. The videos could be funny like this one, quirky, thought provoking, heart wrenching and just plain fun. I sure do miss watching them. Like everyone else has mentioned, you need to check out Every Rose Has Its Thorn. Great rock ballad.

Some sad news. Myles Goodwyn, the lead singer of April Wine, passed away last night at the age of 75. He had retired from performing back in March.
An April Wine reaction would be in order this week. You could try "Could Have Neen Lady". If you want to go into a softer direction you could try "I'm On Fire For You Baby", "You Won't Dance With Me" or "Lady Run, Lady Hide".

Their best power ballads for a broken heart are "Every Rose has its thorn" (it reached #1 in 1988) and "Life Goes on" (the best guitar solo ever)
