Master class work as always-- and I love these cute little dragons! Great coverage, man! If we didn't already have it, jeez, I'd be sold from this. - G
A favorite game for me and my sister-in-law! We both love games that have tons of decisions to make that also create cascading effects. We have played this six or seven times and I still feel like we could play it so many more times!!! Great video, thank you!
Great review. Sadly, this was a miss for us. Production quality was top notch but the gameplay was just okay. The real reason it left our collection so quickly though, was that it was a surprisingly fiddly and AP prone game that took way too long for what it is. Had this been a light, quick and fun game that matched the cutesy theme and art style (and played well at 4-5 players) it might have found a niche in our collection. Unfortunately, it was apparent after only two plays that we would never play it again at 4 players (let alone 5!) and we have many, many games I'd choose at two or three players over it. (We played it 3 times total FWIW.) It is already only a 7.6 on BGG and falling, despite the incredible component quality. I would personally rate it around a 7.2 or 7.3. We have many worker placement games already rated 8+ (personally and on BGG) and we realized we would never choose to table this. So, we sold it right away for full value. YMMV
Ahh man that was my worry with this game too!! Too fiddly and rules / text&symbols heavy for newer gamers, but not enough game for me playing w my core group. And I wonder how it would rank on BGG for just the retail edition alone, without the appeal of the extra components! Thanks for this!
Really enjoy this game with the family. Always get my butt kicked by my v2.0 and v2.1. And never felt like we needed extra surprises at the end as we usually get a good mix of sun and moon fancy dragons. Very good replayability as you said with the variety of shops. Alongside Everdell, this one has become a keeper here.
Flamecraft is pretty for sure. I enjoyed the name of the shops and dragons though the gameplay didn't back up the art for me. We did play with the shop powers, don't remember which deck we used for enchantments.
I am not a fan of the art. I've been watching a lot of reviews to see if the gameplay makes this worth it. It seems like the art or cuteness is the "best" thing about this game. Thanks for your review. Best one I've found.
Great review, Tim! Not sure I agree with your endgame scoring criticism... Many (most?) of the moon-type fancy dragons already offer points for ending the game with a certain number of leftover resources. Getting extra points on top of that probably would be OP.
Ah thanks for sharing Jon!! Maybe I need to stockpile more moon dragons during play 🤔 but I did that and ended up scoring less haha. I think overall-if there was a little more secrecy to the endgame conditions, it’d keep people more antsy/excited to see how that last set of scoring conditions play out 🎉

I wanna grab this game, really mostly for that art - but the gameplay looks fun as well
The frame in the middle of the bottom row is not fully horizontal. OCD kicks in hard 😂 great video btw 👍
