i remember declaring i was gonna watch this during the stream that all the cole fans appeared, and i am NOT disappointed. this show is genuinely good and funny!!! edit: i made that comment around when they were almost done with the challenge and im gonna add another trait, WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
I'll be honest, with how many repetitive plots and cliches the OSC has, my expectations for this show was low. I was just looking for something to watch and saw this was over an hour. The cast of 10 also felt underwhelming. Safe to say, my expectations were ABSOLUTELY BLOWN OUT OF THE WATER. This genuinely has the potential to be my 2nd favorite object show (nothing can beat BFB pre split). Couldn't help but feel the need to rank all the contestants so far: 1. Envy. The show is never unfunny when she's on screen, she's already very important story wise and, while she's not as good as shuri and captain, she can fight. What's not to love? 2. Jotty. She's a level-headed character and has one of my favorite designs. Always knows what she's doing and is always able to keep Slice in check 3. Shuri. He's the strongest fighter, and we don't know a lot about him yet. I want to know more about his backstory as the show progresses and maybe see more of what he's capable of 4. Sparks. When I saw her first scene at the start, she looked like one of those characters that most people would like but I wouldn't care about much. She grew on me as the episode went on though! While she's kind and shows a lot of humanity, she's also determined to win, which I think this episode does a good job at showing. 5. 8-Bit. This was super close between him and flames, but I have to give him a position in the top half. He's a casual and collected contestant, which I respect. 6. Flames. It was close, and flames is an entertaining character. But ultimately, while it would be sad to see him go, I do think that other contestants could fill in his role, while the same can't be said for 8-bit 7. Crispin. And the lowest ranked contestant of the trio is actually the one who probably got the most lines. My issue with Crispin is that I feel like he doesn't show a lot of character, and his personality doesn't really stand out to me. I like his relation with Envy, but it doesn't get explored a lot in this episode other than to show they hate each other. I do want him to stay to see how his interactions with Envy change throughout the show, but wanting a character in for the sake of another isn't enough to rank highly. 8. Crax. I don't have a lot to say about cracks. Their decision to betray Coral didn't raise or lower my opinion on them. Like fuse, they're determined to win, and I like their personality, but the characters above just have so much more going for them 9. Slice. This kind of hurts. When I saw his first scene, I thought slice would be my favorite character. I love smart contestants like GB and test tube which use their brains to help win challenges, and the dynamic he had with Jotty looked pretty cool. But really, Slice feels like deadweight. He didn't rlly do anything beneficial this challenge and because his head isn't really in the game, I can't say this is likely to change 10. Captain. Unfortunately, I can't say I enjoyed captain's personality a lot. And story wise, not a lot going for her compared to some of the others. I will say, her last few words before leaving were heart breaking, but it's not enough to take her out of last place! I don't hate her by any means, I just like the other 9 more. Keep in mind this is based off of the first episode only and my opinion is VERY MUCH subject to change
