Coastal Foraging with Craig Evans mini series Part 1 The Estuary (edible plants and oysters )

  • In collaboration with my friends at "Expedition Jack " (Jack and Lily ), we decided to make a mini series from our full days coastal foraging in Pembrokeshire , Wales UK. We started in an estuary, well known for its oysters and edible coastal plants. In part 2, we move to a beach/rocky shore to forage for mussels, cockles, razor clams and anything else we could find. Then in part 3 we then cook a meal from the ingredients we found while foraging. Apart from some butter, everything in the meal was foraged on the day. Jack is a knowledgeable and proficient film maker, with some very good quality equipment, including a quality drone. It has been a goal of mine to have someone like Jack to film some videos for me on quality equipment and I thank both Jack and Lily for the opportunity. I hope you like the improvement in quality. Jack and Lily have their own TH-cam channel and they have uploaded their version of the days filming. / expeditionjack it is well worth your while visiting as travel content and film quality are amazing !
As you will have gathered, I have had trouble editing my videos, but I am sure you will agree that Jack has done a superlative job on this series and I would like to thank him publicly.
If you would like to join me on one of courses or like some further information then please visit my website www.coastalfora... .

It was such a pleasure to spend this exciting day with you. Both me and Lily learnt so much in the short space of time we spent with you. It's a totally different experience when you can try the foods in real life and you can taste the unexpected flavours. Many Thanks and best wishes to you and Llew, Jack & Lily

Out of any and all foraging videos and channels I've come across over time, yours has consistently always been my favorite and has always been so wonderfully educating. Thank you so much, Mr. Evans for sharing your passion with the world and passing along your knowledge for those of us who aren't as familiar with plant life or marine life as you.
The editing, camera angles and long distance (COLORFUL) shots are exquisite, I find myself quite jealous that I am in the States and not there nearly every time I see the breathtaking beauty of your videos.
Again, thank you so much for sharing your passion with us, the TH-cam world. Here's hoping you're doing fantastically well. Looking forward to your next episode.
Take care and best wishes from the States!

First of all, that intro was so awesome!! Beautiful video. Congrats on your foraging business, definitely living the dream! I'm gonna have to come visit you one day and take that class!! So are you going to be mainly focusing on that? Are you still gonna be uploading on youtube?

    • @coastalforagingwithcraigev8447

Hi Taku, many thanks for your kind words, you will be made very welcome if you come over ,perhaps we could collaborate - I could undertake the foraging / explanation and you could use your expertise in USA/Asian/Sushi cooking, would be great! I could come over to you and do the same. I will focus mainly on my foraging/team building courses . I really enjoy making the videos and sharing our environment with the rest of the world, however since March of this year my views have dropped from an average 300,000 per video to around 10,000 ,with no reduction in content or quality ! I have over 34,000 subscribers, but because TH-cam changed the notification process ,the do not get informed of my uploads. Financially, due to the time/travel/equipment/editing etc, the return for the effort is literally peanuts. Have you seen my website Taku coastalforaging.co.uk , kind regards Craig

@@coastalforagingwithcraigev8447 Yes that would be amazing! People have asked for a collab video of us in my channel several times. You're welcome to visit me anytime, it'll be a good time for sure. I know what you mean about the drop in views. Even myself this month compared to last two months was a lot less. I was thinking since you're not getting as many views it affects mine because I think a lot of the times my videos are in the 'suggested videos' section of your videos. I'll keep at it and hopefully it gets better again! Anyways, I just took a look at your website and its REALLY NICE! I wanted sign up for you extreme low tide class already. Hahaha cheers, Taku

Ah, that was a long wait :) But this new mini-series shapes up to be very interesting. I recognised some of edible plants you showed to us. They grow in our forests, and are gathered and processed. For example: we turn ripe elderberries into a syrup - tasty and very healthy in the winter :)

If you eat enough of the wild lettuce, it will make you tired. The white sap in it is like a natural painkiller. One time I accidentally drugged my entire family because our farm share lady was giving this to us, but she didn't tell us what it was. I put a whole bunch of it in my wild chanterelle mushroom soup, and the soup made everyone super tired.
