      Hello Fabricio 😄 Thanks for watching and for your example sentences👍🏻
      Your first two sentences perfectly show the difference between using 'taste' as a dynamic verb vs a linking verb!
      The rest of your sentences don't have any linking verbs.
      In your second set of sentences you've used teach correctly in the present continuous. 'Teach' is always a dynamic verb. In the sentence 'Jen teaches adorable' you need to change the adjective adorable to adorably. = JeN teaches adorably.
      'Run' is another example of a verb that is always a dynamic verb. (My dog is running around the home. = correct sentence in the present continuous)

    Jen, this lesson is very curious for me. I have never come across this rule. You explain it perfectly. Here are some examples that come to mind right now:
    I sleep well, the teacher is friendly, that guy looks nice, the fiddle sounds perfect, the singer has a strong voice ??? , the flower smell good. (has, ok?)
    This lesson is lovely.
    I’ll take a look to the video you recommend.
    I wish you a nice day!💖

      Hi Santiago 🤗 Thanks for your nice comment and for your example sentences. I'm glad you were able to find this lesson helpful. I had never taught about linking verbs before, but this lesson was requested by a few of my tutoring students. ☺️
      As for your sentences, a point to remember is that although linking verbs are a type of stative verb, not all stative verbs are linking verbs. That being said, your awesome sentences with linking verbs include: The teacher is friendly. That guy looks nice. The fiddle sounds perfect. The flower smells good. This lesson is lovely. 👍🏻✨
      "I sleep well" is a perfect sentence in English, but 'well' is an adverb describing how you sleep, and sleep is a dynamic / action verb. "The singer has a strong voice" is also a perfect sentence in English, but 'has' is a stative verb only in this case and not a linking verb. Linking verbs describe a state of being while 'has' usually describes possession. I hope that helps. 😄

    Dear make a video on the usage of ‘fall victim to’ in detail

    • @JeNsJyugyou
      @JeNsJyugyou  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your interest in the idiom 'fall victim to'. It means to fail or suffer because of something. Subject + fall victim to + object. Here are two examples: The elderly lady fell victim to the fake tax scam. Many restaurants have fallen victim to quarantine / lockdown rules imposed by the government in an effort to stop the spread of COVID19.
      Hope that helps 🤗

    Wow!! What a great video!! Thank you for making it.
    I have a question about the sentence, the puppy plays with a ball.
    I hard many times in high school that "ball" is not an object and "plays" is an intransitive verb because it is followed by "with", which is a preposition and makes an adverbial phrase. Do you think this explanation is wrong?

    • @JeNsJyugyou
      @JeNsJyugyou  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello KM 🤗. Thanks for your nice comment. Sorry it has taken me a while to respond. Your English teachers in high school are correct that plays is an intransitive verb and in the sentence, "The puppy plays with the ball", 'with the ball' is an adverbial phrase 👍🏻. I am impressed at that level of deep understanding of grammar 🤩. Personally, I find that examining such complex grammar isn't actually helpful for communication for the most part. As an English teacher I feel that people basically just need to understand that a sentence has two main parts, a subject and a predicate which is made up of a verb and usually an object. 😁

    Hi teacher.. 👐 I have a question about the sentence which I read on yesterday. This is the sentence...
    "Your league status is what determines which prize you will qualify for"
    My question is:
    what the function of the words "is what" in that sentence? and how to call that? is it conjunction?
    Sorry my English so bad 🙏

    • @JeNsJyugyou
      @JeNsJyugyou  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your question, Ba Nana 🍌. Your English isn't bad, please have more confidence. 🤩 The sentence makes sense, but technically speaking, 'is what' could be omitted as it is unnecessary. The writer should have just said, ""Your league status determines which prize you will qualify for." However, the sentence is still okay as it is and was probably written that way to emphasize the importance of your league status.
      I believe that the end of the sentence, "what determines which prize you will qualify for" is technically called a noun clause. It contains the subject in the pronoun what and the verb determines .The clause acts as a predicate in the sentence and gives information about your league status. ✨

      Hi Rafiq 😎 Thanks for your comments and example sentences.
      Your first two sentences perfectly show the difference between using 'look' as a dynamic verb vs a linking verb!
      In your second set of sentences you've used 'move' as a verb in the present continuous and to create the noun movement. In "The Earth's movement is slow", is is a linking verb. In addition I think you mean to say that the Earth is moving around the sun once every 24 hours. (Rather than 'moving' you can also use the verb 'orbiting' to sound more advanced)
      In your third set of sentences you've used 'ride' correctly in the present continuous and as part of a gerund in the subject of the other sentence. In bicycle riding is enjoyable, 'is' is a linking verb! 👍🏻 Keep up the good work. 🤓

      That's great Ms. Jen,
      Happy to know that my answer was somehow and somewhat correct.
      Yes exactly I used the verb to be "is" as a linking verb in the last two sets of sentences.
      I got your observations with regards to the Earth's movement 🌎 around it self is somewhat slow.
      And in addition using orbiting would be strong more.
      Appreciate your interest Ms.
      Looking forward to prepare for IELTS with you ma'am please if possible.
