In this 1962 recording, Ayn Rand argues that America’s intellectuals have defaulted on their responsibility to understand and defend capitalism. Rand contends that intellectuals failed to grasp the source of businessmen’s productivity and the destructive effects of collectivist schemes implemented by government coercion. By failing to uphold the value of individual liberty, intellectuals paved the way for authoritarian states and the decline of freedom in the twentieth century.
In a separate program, Rand answers questions prompted by her talk, addressing such topics as charity in a free society, the nature and evils of altruism, what she had in common with liberals, Nietzsche’s subjectivism, economic regulation, pollution remedies and the need for television airwaves to be recognized as private property.

Ayn Rand was my first intellectual teacher. I might add that if Ayn was still alive today, she would’ve refrained from accepting the Paycheck Protection Program stimulus.
There is one valid reason to accept the check: Your cash buying power was reduced by aproximatly 8-10% due to the fact they destributed the money in the first place. Accepting the check effectivly leaves your financial situation roughly break even. (Assuming you did not have more than 10K cash in hand, and also work as a wage earner, everyone else who saves significant cash or takes in rents for income, got decimated by these policies). US dollars are not a value. Gold, or other intrinsically valuable items are. The additional dollars cannot buy additional goods and services in the future, because all of your future earning have been permanently and irrevocably reduced due to inflation.
So, by not accepting any US dollars that were forced into everyone, you might consider that it would be willfully sacrificing your own financial situation in the face of mounting inflation, in order to provide additional funds to the government, and therefore extending their insane reign.
I see the stimulus for what it is: as a wash. Every dollar added to the economy from thin air simply devalued the value of pre existing dollars the same amount. To refuse to take it effectively causes measurable and definite harm to ones own self. And refusing the money doesn't prove anything to anyone. It only helps the government do more dumb stuff before the inevitable day of reckoning the dollar will face in the future.
How do you know that?
Rand didn't operate on simple rules of thumb. She thought deeply about her decisions and made them based on principles which take work to correctly apply. See her "On the Question of Scholarships" for an example.
@@DeathEater93 Because it was redistribution and redistribution is theft. There are many forms of redistribution today, domestic and international, (International, like our elected giving our free enterprise to communism in china starting some 40 years ago, for one huge example), and unfortunately, the public accepts them.
If you look at the premises, I think you would find she was the only intellectual for human freedom, (sans some of our founding fathers). The rest who are put in front of us as intellectuals have a mix of premise to differing degrees which is confusion, not intellect.

The political paradigm has become overtly violent, anti-reason, anti-rights, therefore, it is past time for reform. Only secession, refusal to participate and replacement with local non-violent governance will work.
This is what I witness anywhere in the world, (to differing degrees), anywhere outside of my property line. It can only be a matter of time when that line is crossed.
