Two projects I would like to see: Rebuild the headlights with links to parts. Second project would be adding a second battery with a switch over so you can have an aux battery.
I’ll definitely do the headlight one, the v10 already has a second battery in the trunk. If I was to do it I’d install the battery in the same spot and hook up a heavy relay, I’ve done something similar in a service van.
Good info, I'm due for some headlights soon. (getting the occasional flicker) The daytime running light hack easily doubles the life of the bulbs. On a funny note, I spent an hour trying to figure out why my trailer lights wouldn't turn off yesterday... only find out I left the turn signal on. 😂😂
That’s the main reason I disabled them, I didn’t know then they were bad for burning projectors. And I’ve done that once no idea why they decided to program it to do that.
Such a good mod. I will have to do research and see if adaptive headlights will work with the LED bulbs and I gotta disable my DRLs. Driver's bulb is going out. Also for the headlamp release mechanism, I removed the whole headlight tray and welded a socket to the end so I don't hammer and beat the remaining plastic off the headlight tray mechanism haha. Excellent video!
@@JoshsJettas I read through most of that article! My headlights are the cornering/adaptive versions that just have one projector that articulates. Debating on whether to buy all-new headlights, or if retrofitting them might work... Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
Yes, it appears most of the chrome comes out with the lense so it should be easy. There’s a ClubTouareg post of a guy disassembling his to paint and replace the projector. Main thing is getting it warm enough so the butyl seal is soft but not too hot to melt plastic.

I use Auxito lights in all my vehicles now.
The quality and light production make them te best bang for your buck by a long, long way.
I’d like to get my projectors fixed then throw some in the fogs yet
Any thoughts on how to refinish the projectors, or how and what to replace them with?
I plan on removing and comparing to some on eBay, there is a write up on club Touareg on changing them

Hey Josh you have any recommendations for a mkv Jetta led bulb twist type?
My H7's you linked, sit loose in the housing.
Did you do something different to seat them?
no they fit in snug, the steel ring holder isnt bent or anything like that?
@@JoshsJettas dang. You're right. My retaining clip was missing on both sides. Thanks for the reply.
2005 touareg r5
Low beam ds1 or ds3 ?
High beam h7 ?
Day light ?
Also after light upgrade fault code ?
so if you take the light apart can it be painted black like what looks like don on the Jetta you showed?

Any issues with these lights over the last few months ?
Nope they still work as good as the day I put them in. I do a fair amount of night driving so they’ve got some hours on them
