I’ve been watching this guy when I was a freshman in high school not knowing shit. Not in almost thirty, playing festivals and I love coming back to his videos to keep me updated on stuff.
I co-run a house collective out in Arizona and was looking at purchasing some new gear for our crew to play at bars, raves, and clubs many of which dont have squat for equipment (which in return is why we put a Rane MP2015 and a pair of XDJ-1000mk1s through hell and back). So i did some math and a DJM-750mk2 with 1 mic input, 4 color FX, 11 beat FX, and a pair of XDJ-1000mk2s all with individual cases costing about $4000 in total! Crazy expensive and thats still only a 2 channel set up! With this right here you get all 6 color fx, all 14 beat fx and additional features that the XDJ/DJM combo dont have such as improved microphone capabilities (x2), jog tension control, rubbery pads for loops, slip loops and hot ques, the ability for someone to plug in a laptop and use it as a DDJ-1000 with upgraded FX and an isolator which isnt even available on the 900nxs2. This is exactly what I’ve been waiting for. A god send.
At least you're part of the people who actually get it! Two XDJ1000MK2s.. no mixer is roughly $100 more than this all in one unit. I seriously feel like people who are complaining about not having four TRUE USB deck capabilities will not even end up using it. You can buy two XDJ-700s to pair alongside the XZ and is still HALF the price of 2 CDJNXS2 x DJM900NXS2 combo. Pioneer is no way threaten by Denon lol. Ergonomically, the Prime 4 is awkward with the FX banks up on top of each deck like a traditional controller, and the "sweep" FXs is tucked right in the middle of the mixer. So going back and forth trying to be technical while using FXs is cumbersome AF. It's like this. Apple vs Android. There's always some extra bells and whistles on the latest android devices i.e. Samsung etc. 9/10 it's all amazing on paper and no-one really ends up using it in the real world. I'll be buying an XZ to pair with my 700s in the future for sure.
This confuses me so much, I love the XZ but even after hearing this 4 channel thing multiple times I still don't understand. It has the 2 channels on the unit and you can add 2 cdjs to it and hook it all up to use the same USB Drive right? So what's the problem? Someone please explain.
The XDJ -XZ Has four channel when using the thumb drive you can only use the two channel if you used a computer you can access the four channel by pressing the SHIFT KEY TWICE TO ACCESS CHANNEL 3 and 4
One thing i don't like about the prime 4 is the size of the jog weel. If they were bigger i would buy one. And I don't know if I am going to save up for a par of sc5000 or sc5000m.
Well my RX is officially for sale. At 1/3 price and seemingly the majority of the functionality of a NSX2 set the XZ seems like is a steal. Also being a club Dj it always takes me a song or two to get the feel back on the bigger jog wheels compared to practicing on the RX, the XZ set fixes this for me.
Yes, laptop days might come to the end one day but it worked pretty well for almost 20 years so why to change it? I am saying because for me Traktor is the top software for djs and its DVS is the best but you still need laptop to run it. I would not see the USB plug as any issue for professional or amateur djing.
My only problem with these controllers is the single display - the reason being on a club-standard gear you won't have the stacked view and your ears are your source of information. Also an irritation with Serato as I started with it and all my cues (and current controller for that matter) are Serato-specific - I have to use the side-by-side view which completely cuts out the current waveform view only displaying the virtual needles on the tracks' full waveform, but I'd rather train this way in case I play on CDJ or the likes at some point.
LOL...the notion that 2 players should have 4 decks is hilariously overemphasized. I'm sure Pioneer has it's reasons for opting out of it. For 1, more stuff = higher risk for glitches, crashes and blackouts. The small screen is great because it doesn't emphasize so heavily on the display. The XZ has moxie.. and the players have more to customize compared to the XDJ-1000MK2. I mean it's basically 2xCDJ-2000NXS and 1xDJM900NXS2 all in one unit. That's massive! The DJM alone is more expensive than this whole XZ unit.
Love the comments. I still giggle at the boys and toys. I'm still happy with 2 x turntables and a mixer after 35 years. Still clean them all up, no matter how many channels. Yes I use Pioneer. As I don't play weddings or mobile. Clubs and events don't use anything else unless its a Allen and Heath mixer and then its either and or Pioneer CDJs or technics turntables, never seen Denon or Pioneer turntables at gigs yet. But as long as you keep the place full and people coming back. Winning!
You wouldn't talk this way if you actually owned one. The XZ has a lot of advantages on the Prime 4 that has horrible platters, bad screen division, unintuitive mixer layout, no external FX ... Most people just repeat what they see in online reviews but the user experience is completely different. I sold my Prime 4 because the workflow on that device is simply horrible. XDJ-XZ pro's: 1. Almost exactly the same as a CDJ/DJM setup (INDUSTRY STANDARD) with more functions for about one third of the price.... 2. Awesome mechanical jogwheels. 3. Much better FX section that also can be used on external inputs. 4. Better MIC-section with feedback remover. 5. Separate master equalising. 6. Completely compatible as midicontroller with Serato AND Rekordbox. (which is HUGE!) 7. Improved 64 bit DSP soundcard. 8. More intuitive layout that will make you feel at home in ANY DJ booth around the world and that works straight out of the box. I can go on ...
yep, XZ is awsome and i am about to got it for any kind of gigs. And you are right, this XZ is very much almost the same as todays pro clubs setups, so its easy to get on it.
Absolutely fantastic review, thanks for clarifying this for mobile DJS.. I don’t think the laptops Rekord box or vDJ are ever going away, they just keep up dating the software.. it’s preferred choice to have stand a lone.. has it ever gone wrong the software on stand alone..does it ever get bugs
so can you use all 4 cannels from a single pc source in rekordbox mode? do you have a video showing how 4 channels are used in rekordbox mode? want to see exactly how it works. thanks
Nah Laptop and controllers are here to stay. Most people have a laptop, you are probably using one right now, and prepare your tracks on one. Add in one or two controllers and you're now djing
@@martinob2007 Hey Mixes, and hows the RX2 doing ? Im debating on buying RX2 or XZ. Don't know which to choose. Home use mostly for training and preparing sets.
Correct me if I'm wrong but if you use video and light setups all from Rekordbox you'll always need a laptop right? I assume that for big venues they go different ways about that but for smaller gigs its cool that you can control your own video output along with the music while controlling the lights through an RMX controller
PunchineloPow it’s getting a lot of hate and I can’t see why. It’s got 80% of the features from the nexus range making it really cheap controller in my view
Rubertoe not really a fan on denon. Pioneer are like Apple, there layouts and designs work best for me just like iPhones. I wouldn’t get another type of phone
@@jamiec4478 Unfortunately "Pioneer are like Apple" also means they play safe with proven tech invented by others and you only get top features on top models. My mixer is Pioneer because I got it very discounted, but for me Pioneer needs to innovate or lower their prices. Cheers.
I enjoy your tutorials mate. They are in depth and makes sense especially when you talked about buying and selling and also investing in decent equipment
My big question is buy an xz right now or wait a year/years for a standalone unit with the new cdj3000 screen.. this old screen is realy outdated but i feel like the first piece that will come out like that will be the xdj-RR2. Meaning it will have the new screen but alot of other features will be missing like they always do. Making you dissapointed because you waited and will have to wait even longer till the RX3 commes out.
what would be a better option: buying the XDJ XZ and then buy 2 CDJ 3000 or buying the RX3 first, then sell it and later buy 2 CDJ 900 NXS2 and a DJM 900 NX2? thanks
You are all right, I think equal. Pioneer mentally is sale products make money with Djs or not Djs, they don't think the side of Djs that really need they only think money, money.... ( the same things happen with a (Sampler Toraiz) don't have fader volume, knob effects and Pan knobs for audio left and right sides in the front of panel control, mute button and can't play and stop samples or continue play audio without a sequence program per channel .Man is a real shit.... and other negative thing is expensive prices. Djs need to stop buy and use this products in the way to protest.. Peace...
What if I want to mix in my TR-09 into one of the channels? Will that work? if so I might get his product. If not. I'm better off with a 2 channel mixer.
also question what do u do if as a mobile jock if they want video mixing or karaoke ? can the unit do this in fact can any of the standalone units ? as thats whats put me off going stand alone
I think that the era of laptops is just beginning, festivals implement visuals that now look essential for the show, so it is the future in clubs, serato, record box and virtual dj include video formats, I think that only playing music will no longer be enough.
Bought the Poineer 1000SRT - I downloaded the drivers as told , firmware , and updates my Mac, and the Serato won’t sink . When turned the controller reads the song i chose for about 1.5 seconds , shows the BPMs then cuts off and won’t play , any suggestions its been a struggle , 2 weeks and cant play my new decks. I pretty much done what Poineer suggested in their emails . Any help would be appreciated .
Hey, what about send & return, it hasn`t. i thin think it`s an important feauture to have in mind. i like de xz but i think 750 mk2 and a pair of 1000 mk2 are better.
Great video as always. Could you do a video of how to safely clean the Pioneer XDJ-RX2 please? I have the XDJ-RX, have it stored in a magma case with decksaver on it, however it still gets dust, hairs etc on it. I find it extremely difficult to clean with a duster to get in between all the gains, buttons, etc. Cheers mate.
The Denon Prime4 rivals this old technology that is just a reboxed XDJ with a couple new features. 4Channels that cant be used unless you add external players. lammme. Save your money.
@@PhantasmX7 you don't understand what this kit is for then...this is an affordable nx2 style setup for home/club/bar/whatever...that's the whole point...and it's 5 grand cheaper. The prime 4 is built like a toy, as soon as I laid my hands on it (after owning a ddj-sz) I was sorely disappointed in the build and size. I'll take my xz with pro-linked pioneer mixer, fx, and full sized mechanical jog wheels and pads ALL DAY. 400 bucks more than the prime 4 is still a bargain. People pay 7 grand for an nx2 setup that actually has less bells than this does.
My issue is in regards to standalone.. My clubs are requiring videos which I do and no stand alone controler is accommodating this so I'm still stuck with the laptop with the video output
Pioneer DDJ SRT falls short on the following: No ability to continue to play your track if your hdd accidentally disconnects buffer space not good, better in Rekord Box. The looping feature requires extra steps to activate (i.e. using shift key), the Serato effects buttons are no longer on the controller, No post-fader effects for Serato effects, No Flip control, You have to hit Shift button to change Key, the Power supply is no longer an IEC cable, but rather a DC voltage power brick which cost approximately $150.00 Cdn to replace, Fader settings no longer are configurable on the controller you must go into Serato software, No track search bar, Rekord Box version Pioneer DDJ1000 has far more functions (Rekord box is not club standard software and only works on Pioneer controllers). Pros: You have a pressure-sensitive jog wheel, It's a smaller size controller, cost less than the Pioneer DDJ SZ. See this honest review before you buy: th-cam.com/video/fzg4xCt_H34/w-d-xo.html Pioneer XDJ RZ also falls short. Has nobody noticed that there is only one USB B port to plug in one DJs computer? This means if you are relying on a second DJ to plug into the player the screen will not see two computers. You can only plug-in a USB A interface. This means if you have an external thunderbolt drive that uses Thunderbolt 2 or 3 interface, your screwed. I won't get into the four-channel mixing issues. Jonathan covers that. You will need additional hardware to make it a four-deck player, whether that it is CDJs or Turntables. If you have a Pioneer DDJ SZ, stay with that controller even though the size and weight is more, or buy an Pioneer DDJ SX3. Not worth upgrading, this is a downgrade because you are losing features.
It is funny how long i have been following you on youtube yet i still haven't subscribed yet. It's been for about 12 years now or so. hahahah. But hey. When are you going to upgrade on your audio recording of these type of videos?😋 a better external mic or something? Love your work. I grew half my life up with you.
i bought the pioneer xdj rx for 1495 euro sold it for 700 euro and it was in good condition nobody wanted to pay more than this 700 some of them tryed to bid me down to 550 euro
i bought mine a year an a half ago for 1k euros used like new, literally almost out of the box. The guy got it as a present and never used it. Still have it, but its arguably the best R series one (better than RX2). RX2 i noticed in some bars has software issue and waveform starts getting framerate dips, and i personally dispise rubberised touchpad buttons, prefer the original clicky ones. I am sure if i am to sell it i'd be able to get almost the same amount for it.
Ur very bad at bargaining your end bro. Ive bought an ddj 1000 for 1000$ and sold it for 1300 Bought a djm 900 with cdj 900 on decent need fixing condition but still playable 7/10 for 1000$ yes 1000$ and resold it for 1800 Bought an ddj sx2 for 950$ new and after using it for 2 years i resold it for 750$ big steal considering the sx2 kept dying every now and then for no reason. Probably need to change the motherboard which in my country is almost impossible Bought another djm 900 with a box and made around 400$ off that Bought an xdj-rx 1 and made 250$ off that Bought an xdj-rx2 for 1800 and after using it a while i didnt realize it had some internal problems so i had to get it fixed for 300$. Guess what, resold it for 1800 as is! Currently i have an ddj 1000 and a cdj 2000 nexus setup but since i bought it for too cheap of a price i doubt i will re-sell them anytime soon might be my actual current set
There will always be something better coming out in the future. But you can wait your entire life waiting for it. You can play from 4 music sources with this it’s just that only 2 are direct from your flash drives and the other 2 have to come from an external source like my technics 1200’s or cdj’s or even a laptop(ableton ect). Your gonna spend half the cost of this controller just on a mixer if ya go the pioneer pro cdj’s setup route.
Yes BRO love iTT. I rock the RX2 myself and love it 2 channels is enought but the XZ is definitely a forward thinking break through 4 pioneer. It allows people to upgrade to 4 channel setup if they own 2 external devices without having to sell off old external devices like CDJs they wouldn't need otherwise in a standalone 4 channel setup. Pretty brilliant outside the box thinking. ✌😁
I know all it's limitations and features, not worried about resale, I typically use two decks but live that I can plugin my laptop and use all 4 tracks. So it was a great but for my needs, plus there is a one month or more wait right now on all the DDJ 1000s and this was the only unit that I could find still in stock. As always love the video super informative and gets right to the point on why you might not want to buy it which is super valuable.
I was about to buy one myself but V2 is due to drop sometime in early 23. Worth the wait if the new one is a true dedicated 4 channel stand alone unit like the Denon.
I'm asking: who this device is for? Bars or Cafè? I don't think so..(usually) no Bars or Cafè invest on equipment, they call for a DJ (with equipment 'inside') and pay (few) for him, if they need music othertimes they turn on the radio..someone says: DJs want use 4 jogs could just bring 2 CDJs and connect to XZ, but how many Bar/Cafè have so much space to deploy all of them and how many DJs that play in Bar/Cafè play on 4 devices..Clubs will bring ever a flagship set and large Events they will bring (ever) a CDJs army, no need XZ to maximize connections.. Mobile DJs? I don't think so..they have XDJ-RX2 or DDJ-1000 (Serato or not) and they are enough and full working (all channels are available)..yesterday, Mobile DJs have been aware if they need a 4 channel Prime 4 is best option.. I think this Pioneer policy about drop something that 'works a bit but not fully' is not so fair.. I ever been not so lured by Denon, but last nite I checked (again) their Prime line and I think they are the right price/quality balance..only a better Engine and (actual) Pioneer has to have fear of..
not sure what city or country you live in, but 90% of bars in our town have RX2, and sometimes even they rent a proper mixer/deck set. XZ-wise yeah, its not much incentive to upgrade.

Over looking the fact Prime 4 and the SC line do not need a PC to analyze files create crates or playlist. It's fully standalone. Both Pioneer and Denon are needed to create competition and innovation, it took Denon's assault in the market place to get Pioneer off it's behind and start innovating it's gear.
if i had to pick one i would go with the denon prime ,but even prime doest have what i want on it ,but thats just me because i know better controllers and mixers will come out in the next year or so .cant wait til we dont have to use laptops anymore but its still not gonna happen for a while . but hey if this new controller works for djs more power for them .
4 channels, the two built in decks, plus two decks plugged in on lines 1 and 4. Use a USB in one of the decks and link it to the RZ and you're good to go. No need for a laptop
I WOULDN'T TALK ABOUT A PRODUCT IF YOU HAVEN'T USED IT YET JUST SAYING BASHING SOMETHING YOU NEVER EVEN TRIED ----- GET THE PRODUCT AND TRY IT THEN YOU CAN GIVE YOUR NEGATIVE FEEDBACK. YOU CAN ALWAYS RETURN IT
I like your content but this video got my back up. You state that Pioneer are not paying you and it’s a matter of opinions. Why could you not say that Pioneer are not ready to try and compete with Denon DJ on a proper 4 channel standalone unit like the Prime 4. Yes indeed Pioneer make class leading products and are club standard but Denon forged ahead with the standalone systems on the market. By the way I have a Nexus set up and I’ve also got a Prime 4 and also have SC5000M set up. I’ve been a DJ for many years playing on Pioneer but I am big enough to admit that for once a rival company have given Pioneer a good run for their money . The XZ is a good machine and will appeal to many but for a mobile DJ the Prime 4 wins hands down on features etc and Pioneer could not at this point in time compete so they released an updated RX2 ... anyway opinions are what they are. Keep up the good work
I agree mate , he goes on about let’s be honest we only use 2 decks occasionally 3 for vocals etc , but then starts getting hyped up about having a xdj linked up to it or 2 turntables , talk about contradicting , pioneer are the Apple of the dj world.

@@TheFunkloft I actually own a Nexus Set up so I know some of the plus points. What I am saying as a Stand Alone unit it doesn't compare to the Denon Prime 4 and if you done your homework or owned both like I do you would know. Without a doubt Pioneer is at present the industry standard in Clubs but It is not a full 4 channel standalone unit and at present they cannot compete with Denon dj on this front
@@sergiosergides6645 Have you ever worked with Engine Prime? Please go ahead and come back. You'll understand immediatly what I mean. There is NO true 4 ch all-in-one unit out there as it would need to have 4 player sections, each with Jogwheels. If dual layer were a true option that equals a true 4 deck solution, at least we would see MR Denon, Laidback Luke, use it on stage, but we don't and we won't for obvious reasons. I've got the rx2 and always got frustrated having to swap over lines to use turntables, it sometimes affected the midi connection when swapping back, I'm very much wanting this new unit, for other reasons too.. Never been interested in the prime either..
I'm not a fan of Pioneer gear but they don't need to compete with Denon or any other manufacturer gear. The people who use it and are happy will continue to do so and nothing will change that.
Video djs still have to use a laptop for a long while yet. I suspect denon to be the first to come up with video out on their prime systems.. After all, they can already play many video files as audio where pioneer can not
Good, really good said. I'm usually pretty long in my comments... but 1. I did buy the Prime 4 and it's utterly sh**t, $1800 brick, list why is loooong. @@TheFunkloft I also got the pioneer XDJ-XZ,yesterday had the first gig with it and I was so satisfied playing with it. I would never go to denon Prime 4 though it has many features.
@@imusiccollection With 4 control interfaces yes, but not the lack of CDJ mode which I need. I'm not going to satisfy with only a shitty vinyl mode which more or less forces the user to use pre set hot cues to be the least creative. Not for me. Don't have the time to set possible hot cue's on my entire archive, which very possible will be the wrong ones anyway. I prefer to be spontaneous and creative in the moment. The fact that Denon nor have memory cues makes it even worse, because those are pure starting cue points and those I do use sometimes. 2 features I really need, but Denon chose to quit having them on their decks. They could easily include those features but they have chosen not to, and as long as they don't, me and many other DJ's won't chose to use their gear. The fact that I also hear in the community's and forums that the quality, again, don't seem to be on par with Pioneer gear, makes it even less probable that I will buy or recommend any of the Denon Dj gear. Reliability is THE most important feature of all, and then broken buttons and faders, freezes and sudden deaths, often beyond repair, are not an option for any pro DJ. There's only 3/1000 DJ's I know using the Denon gear, and 2/3 have had more than one of the above mentioned problems. Not good statistics. To be fair, the problems have all been on the SC5000's, X1800 and the Prime 4. I'm not yet aware of any problems or mishaps with the 6000's.
I don't get it. Is it really that big of a deal to plug in a couple of CDJs to the deck? If anything I prefer that to having to switch back and forth between channels.
Today i've lost a big deal with a guy that wanted to sell me a pair of cdj2000 + a djm900 nexus for almost the same price of one brand new xdj xz (about 2300 euro). He changed idea at the end of the deal and i was so upset that i decided to go to a shop for buy a brand new xdj xz. After i looked the design for 5 minutes i decided to don't buy it. Sorry to say that but it seems just a huge plastic box that mimic a professional consolle (like "i wish a pro consolle but i can't"). Too flat design, too unconfortable for me with turntables. From the top It seems similar to a consolle with pioneer cdj2000+djm900 but it's not and you feel that "not solid" and plastic touch sensation of midi controllers.
Got my XDJ-XZ and i can say it is just like NEXUS2 setup but it costs way less! It is by far the best stand-alone unit on the market! I am a mobile DJ and now i have 1 case to transport, not 3. :D :D
The last point about the super club is not really relevant. This is a product aimed at mobiles like me and you, or bedroom DJ’s with too much money. I gig a DDJ RZ, but also have a nexus 2 setup for club nights, community projects and hire. Running the nexus setup on the same system is in a completely different level of sound quality to my DDJ RZ. The nexus setup is aimed at clubs, the sound output reflects that. The biggest thing they missed on the XDJ-RZ was not making the decks 2 layered like on the DDJ range. They have the knowledge from previous controllers. It would not have impacted the controller at all as you could have chosen line or usb on channels 1-4. It’s a couple of features away from being amazing. I think you’re right about a better version on the way though!
I belive you on that there will come a new and better version in the future. Every year a new and better phone comes out but that dosent mean that the one you have is now bad
Xz aside, just have to say I love your videos and the way you present. Not only the videos are always informative but you're also doing it with style, always throwing in some intelligent humor. Educative and entertaining at the same time 🙂
I agree and disagree....I have pioneer s9 and wanted to get sample players, looked at toriaz and dj s1000. But in end bought mpc live which I never considered. Since Akai and Denon are now owned by Inmusic I think some of their recent releases are new classics..we wont mention Rane lol
@@Jayel1978 I think the days of pioneer ruling maybe over...remember when technics ruled. The new products from Denon and Akai are super intelligent and well supported. Free updates that add incredible features. I know pioneer toriaz owners did not have that experience and only one bug fix update for my s9.
Honestly I know its not standalone but the DDJ1000 Is an absolute beast of a controller, full sized jogs and pitch, loads of samplers, 6 channels (each deck is capable of playing two tracks). all for £1000, its a steal. The mixer on this controller is also top notch to.
Im not a fan of huge controllers like this and prime 4...if i was a mobile Dj...2 channels seems enough. however...the 4 channel hardware provides more stuff to be use combined....But its way $...I also agree laptop Djing is limited by the risk of the USBs.....and the hardware itself....
that feel when you have Tour de France after shooting the video

BryantFC best of luck with that! I wish they would make an XDJ-700MK2
This confuses me so much, I love the XZ but even after hearing this 4 channel thing multiple times I still don't understand. It has the 2 channels on the unit and you can add 2 cdjs to it and hook it all up to use the same USB Drive right? So what's the problem? Someone please explain.
two channels are integrated into the XZ and two can be used for external sources
The XDJ -XZ Has four channel when using the thumb drive you can only use the two channel if you used a computer you can access the four channel by pressing the SHIFT KEY TWICE TO ACCESS CHANNEL 3 and 4
or just buy a prime4 and get the 4 channels a built in ssd option and a far superior hd screen ..oh and its around 400 quid cheaper.
One thing i don't like about the prime 4 is the size of the jog weel. If they were bigger i would buy one. And I don't know if I am going to save up for a par of sc5000 or sc5000m.
Quid? Squids?
Sucks it’s not a standard layout and looks like a toy

The XZ is an absolute wedding machine. I will definitely give it a go.
Wedding machine ... probably the most appropriate term for identify this tool
Maybe use a XDJ-XZ before you offer an opinion.
He is speaking in general terms, throwing a couple of some interesting facts about the benefits of XZ. This is not a full review.

I wish DENON would make one with bigger jogs also they always have more way way more features..
Sure we all want it that way ... Prime4 with big jog wheels
Big jogs here as well

Also, in terms of reliability and longevity, Pioneer will still be standing compared to the Denon Prime 4.
Winning!
LINE UP, BE HONES who has the Prime 4 and uses ALL 4 DECKS? I BET MOST PEOPLE DON'T!
Prime 4 is a beast. You can't deny
XDJ-XZ pro's:
In that case I'd stick to my ddj 1000 as a controller speaking
SAME HERE!

I ordered the pioneer XDJ-XZ anyway 😃

We call them thumb drives too. I've never heard anyone say "stick drive".

Stick drive in america is a proper car. Lol
so can you use all 4 cannels from a single pc source in rekordbox mode? do you have a video showing how 4 channels are used in rekordbox mode? want to see exactly how it works. thanks
Yes, I think the end of the laptop is coming to an end too. Stand alone is the best way to go.

Isn't the ddj 1000 4 channel also and similar effects and feel to a nexus setup that's what I purchased it for a few months ago and love it
Correct me if I'm wrong but if you use video and light setups all from Rekordbox you'll always need a laptop right? I assume that for big venues they go different ways about that but for smaller gigs its cool that you can control your own video output along with the music while controlling the lights through an RMX controller
I really like this controller. It’s more or less a nexus2 set up for a third of the money
Yeah I agree, its basicaly 2 cdj 2000 and a djm 900 for 2k
PunchineloPow it’s getting a lot of hate and I can’t see why. It’s got 80% of the features from the nexus range making it really cheap controller in my view

Hi have you used or have any thoughts on the new Denon 4 controller ???
Sorry I’ve never been able to use it
OK thank you your video has made my mind up for now on the pioneer gonna give the Denon a try nothing to loose.
Making you dissapointed because you waited and will have to wait even longer till the RX3 commes out.
what would be a better option: buying the XDJ XZ and then buy 2 CDJ 3000 or buying the RX3 first, then sell it and later buy 2 CDJ 900 NXS2 and a DJM 900 NX2? thanks
What is the preamp like on the xz?? Not seen anyone using vinyl on any of these yet.
Love your fantastic personality and information!!

What if I want to mix in my TR-09 into one of the channels? Will that work? if so I might get his product. If not. I'm better off with a 2 channel mixer.
Are you able to use tidal?
also question what do u do if as a mobile jock if they want video mixing or karaoke ? can the unit do this in fact can any of the standalone units ? as thats whats put me off going stand alone
I think that the era of laptops is just beginning, festivals implement visuals that now look essential for the show, so it is the future in clubs, serato, record box and virtual dj include video formats, I think that only playing music will no longer be enough.
I'm not buying a 2 deck standalone for 3000, then i'll rather have a ddj 400 or something
I’m very happy with it and my cdj’s on the side , on 3/4 channel. Even swap one cdj for a 1210 technics ! BOOM all good from the hood

The Denon Prime4 rivals this old technology that is just a reboxed XDJ with a couple new features. 4Channels that cant be used unless you add external players. lammme. Save your money.
PhantasmX7 yeah but it’s denon
which is great, but if you're playing in clubs nearly everywhere has Pioneer gear so Rekordbox is a must.

@@doskoreanitos2588 Denon has stepped its game up. Have you tried the Sc5000s yet? Dope af
See this honest review before you buy: th-cam.com/video/fzg4xCt_H34/w-d-xo.html
Pioneer XDJ RZ also falls short.

Bought a djm 900 with cdj 900 on decent need fixing condition but still playable 7/10 for 1000$ yes 1000$ and resold it for 1800
Bought an ddj sx2 for 950$ new and after using it for 2 years i resold it for 750$ big steal considering the sx2 kept dying every now and then for no reason. Probably need to change the motherboard which in my country is almost impossible

But what if I don’t plan on selling the Denon Prime 4 I’m planning on buying?

Both Pioneer and Denon are needed to create competition and innovation, it took Denon's assault in the market place to get Pioneer off it's behind and start innovating it's gear.

I like your content but this video got my back up. You state that Pioneer are not paying you and it’s a matter of opinions. Why could you not say that Pioneer are not ready to try and compete with Denon DJ on a proper 4 channel standalone unit like the Prime 4. Keep up the good work
Sad fact is that even XDJ RR can do 2ch standalone/4ch in control mode

My colleague got the XDJ-XZ today and is on a gig with it tonight, just how it always should be when a new pro tool is advertised. ....hrrm, not too long... :)
Same here:
XDJ-XZ pro's:
1. 8. More intuitive layout that will make you feel at home in ANY DJ booth around the world.
@@TheFunkloft I also got the pioneer XDJ-XZ,yesterday had the first gig with it and I was so satisfied playing with it.
I would never go to denon Prime 4 though it has many features.
2x Lc6000 sorts out the 4 channel solution with a prime 4 or 2x sc6000
With the DDJ-RZX you can mix all 4 channels with one unit.
I don't get it. Is it really that big of a deal to plug in a couple of CDJs to the deck? If anything I prefer that to having to switch back and forth between channels.
Max B. Chorney I agree with you!
Well with the laptop my songs loads tons faster than the thumb drive. And the tracks are easier to search on a my laptop.
Get a 1000 then
Dirt Lab yep. Best bang for the buck
Turned off after 1 min... yes i want to play with more than 2 sources .. thanks for the intro
Bro, you're a saint! 🙏 Thanks for your info! Love your videos! 😁👍🏻
Spokesman for pioneer. I could run the same exact thing with talking points about Denon.
Can you use all 4 channels with a computer?
I heard about a 'shift' feature for that in recordbox performance mode
Yes with a computer you can. When using RB or Serato you double click shift to change the deck.
Not yet apparently that feature is coming in a firmware update in 2020
Today i've lost a big deal with a guy that wanted to sell me a pair of cdj2000 + a djm900 nexus for almost the same price of one brand new xdj xz (about 2300 euro).
From the top It seems similar to a consolle with pioneer cdj2000+djm900 but it's not and you feel that "not solid" and plastic touch sensation of midi controllers.
does it work with Virtual Dj ?
You want to spend $2200 on a standalone controller and use VDJ on it? But also I believe the answer is no but I could be wrong
@@benmoliterno6113 why what's wrong With VIRTUAL DJ pro is fantastic I'm not a serato guy but anyway it does work with VDJ but thanks anyway mate
Board's of Canada Happy Cycling!!!
Xz aside, just have to say I love your videos and the way you present. Not only the videos are always informative but you're also doing it with style, always throwing in some intelligent humor. Educative and entertaining at the same time 🙂
Love the jersey although, especially with the cap, Chris Lowe springs to mind, you just need some sunglasses
Second hand price is irrelevant because trying to sell DJ equipment is close to impossible these days...
I agree and disagree....I have pioneer s9 and wanted to get sample players, looked at toriaz and dj s1000. But in end bought mpc live which I never considered. Since Akai and Denon are now owned by Inmusic I think some of their recent releases are new classics..we wont mention Rane lol
I'd still have the denon prime 4 over the pioneer any day. Much better all round in my opinion
